Chapter 12 #2

But she always hit the target, each shot growing closer to the bullseye.

I won’t lie, watching her hit the target again and again, ass on full display, made the red-blooded male in me damn near purr in satisfaction.

Fucking perfection, my wife. If I wasn’t careful, I’d get hard sitting here, watching her.

It was difficult keeping the naughty fantasies at bay with such a tempting visual right in front of me.

Maybe later I’d ask to take her in that exact position.

What snapped me from my wandering thoughts was Uncle Ty giving her one last direction before watching the following shot.

Seeming satisfied with her progress, Uncle Ty went back to Charlotte, likely worried she wouldn’t actually learn anything because of all the flirting going on in that corner.

Frankly? He was right to be worried. Lots of hands-on adjusting going on over there, if you know what I mean.

He cleared his throat, gaining their attention before kicking Jo Jo out. My bestie had a pouty face, but he shuffled my direction.

Of course, he did the most dangerous thing possible and came right to my wife’s side, dropping down onto his haunches before asking her, “Hey, uh, Kris? Is it okay if I, like, ask your sister on a date?”

She turned her head and looked at him. “Are you seriously asking me while I’m armed? Gun literally in hand?”

“I’m not a victim, I’m a perpetrator!” He beamed at her, sunny smile like a forcefield against common sense.

I had only one thing to say: Popcorn, get your popcorn!

Now, my wife might not say it aloud, but her face had turned closed captions on.

She eyed my best friend and, for a second, seemed to seriously debate whether to encourage him or not.

“Jo Jo, honestly, I’d feel relieved if you guys dated.

Who do you think gave her the idea, showed her your picture?

My sister has not had a good track record with dating.

Mostly due to our parents’ influence, granted.

I was surprised she was so immediately attracted to you, but I’m cool with it. Promise.”

Jo Jo experienced a rare moment of speechlessness. It took a few seconds for his brain to reboot and respond. “Woah, that’s, uh, high praise. Damn. I really appreciate your level of trust, seriously. Um, she’s okay with the biz, then?”

Kris maneuvered to sit up, likely so she could speak with him more comfortably. “She’s still wrapping her head around the idea, but she’s taken everything in stride so far. When I asked her the same question, she said the right person would be worth it.”

“So, to confirm, I’m not imagining the neon sign she’s giving?”

Kris chuckled. “No, you’re not.”

“Cool, cool. I’m gonna ask her on a date, then.” He bounced on his toes—which looked hysterical in his squatted position—expression gleeful.

Which was my cue to interrupt. “Now hang on a fucking second, is my opinion invalid or something? I am offended, sir!”

He waved me off. “Be fucking offended. In fact, get a cape and be Super Fucking Offended.”

I clapped back immediately. “Fuck fuck fuck fuck a duck, screw a kangaroo, sixty-nine a porcupine, naughty at the zoo~”

Kris started laughing so hard tears streamed down her face, elbow braced in the grass for support. “What…the hell…was that song?”

“Oh, this old thing? Been singing this for years.” I was delighted she’d found my rendition so funny, though.

Wiping tears away, she finally regained her composure enough to speak with Jo Jo. “You’re fine, dude. But keep this in mind—I do not want a shotgun wedding in this family.”

“That I can promise.” He visibly settled, smile turning shy.

Which, uh, I didn’t even know he could make a face like that.

Was a pod person in our midst? “Thanks, Kris. I know this takes trust, and it might seem crazy because we only met yesterday, but…I haven’t met a woman I’ve liked this much in years.

Charlotte is…exciting, different from anyone I’ve met, and seems like an all-around great person.

I want to give this a solid go and hope for the best. Try one date, see where we go from there. ”

“That’s all I ask.”

I noticed Charlotte sneaking peeks over our way, no doubt wondering what we were talking about.

Maybe these two would make a real go at it. If not, they were adults and could handle things on their own. I was on the sidelines for moral support and entertainment.

I did give him one warning. “She’s got white girl tastebuds, so nothing above a kimchi level, got it?”

His eyes crinkled in amusement. “Good intel, thanks. Maybe a seafood restaurant to start with, yeah?”

Kris chuckled. “You definitely won’t go wrong with seafood.”

“Perfect. Now, since I’ve been banned from handgun practice, mind if I scooch in?”

We spent another good three hours training, the repetitive bang of the guns only interrupted when Jo Jo finally approached Charlotte to formally ask her on a date, and lots of squealing and giggling commenced.

But now, the sun had started to dip and I really wanted food.

We wrapped up for the day, helping Uncle Ty clean up before saying goodbye.

Once we loaded back up into the car, I turned to ask, “So, Charlotte, how was the shooting lesson?”

“I loved it. It’s kinda like chasing a high? It’s more fun than I expected and I’m stoked to do it again!” Her glowing expression reminded me of the first time I’d taken Kris shooting, so I knew there to be no lie in her rave review.

“Great!” I was glad today had been a success, in more ways than one. I turned back around, started the car, and made a three-point turn before driving back down the gravel driveway. Foooooood time!

Kris twisted to look into the back seat. “Any cravings for an early dinner?”

“I do want food, but...” Jo Jo batted his eyelashes at Charlotte. “I’d like to take her on a dinner date. Maybe drop us off at her apartment? We can take her car for dinner.”

Man lost no time, that was for sure.

“I can drop you off, that’s fine.”

Charlotte was a little blushy and constantly grinning, according to my rearview mirror. Now that was just cute.

We weren’t too far from city limits, so swinging by Grandma’s building took only a minor detour. We had them dropped off in no time at all and were about the leave the parking lot when I looked at my wife, whose closed captions had once again made an appearance.

“Second guessing?”

“Hmm, no, it’s not that. I just hope Charlotte’s really up for dating Jo Jo. Being in a relationship with a man who’s on the road half the year isn’t easy. I think, if she can make peace with that, she’ll be good with Jo Jo. He’s so obviously into her.”

“Yeah, he’s super obvious. Well, you’ve got to let her make decisions on her own.”

“I know. My big sis instincts are warring with me, is all.” She shook her head, as if clearing the thoughts. “All right, what are we doing for food?”

It suddenly hit me the house was empty and would likely stay that way for hours.

I’d been dying to get hands on Kris earlier.

The mental image of her hitting targets, ass up, came back in full force, along with the burning surge of arousal.

I swallowed once. “Lao po…what if we get something delivered? And have fun times while waiting on the delivery?”

She looked at me askance before smirking. “Again, I ask you, what is it about me shooting a gun?”

“I’m a simple man with simple tastes. Boom boom noises are a thing with me.”

“Clearly.” She laughed, then pointed out the window. “Drive home, then. I’ll choose a restaurant with the slowest delivery times.”

“You’re killing me here.”

I hoped Kris was ready for what awaited her when we got home, because my wife was on the menu tonight.
