Chapter Seventeen

Hamish

“Hi, Doc.” Tyson’s shy smile warmed my heart. He stood in the doorway of my condo and followed me as I ushered him in. He barely had time to take in his surroundings before I had him pushed up against the locked front door. I grasped his cheeks in my hands and drew his mouth to mine.

Shock hit me, or at least part of me. As our tongues twined, the idea of consent flitted through my mind.

Right up until the moment he grasped my hips, drew me against him, and thrust his erect cock against my own hard one. Despite the denim and corduroy, his ardency was damn clear. He wanted me. I wanted him.

He cupped the back of my neck and grasped a handful of my hair in his fingers. He tugged.

My shaft hardened further. I pulled away from the kiss, even as I pressed against him. “Jesus, Tyson, that feels good.”

“You like that, eh?”

I swallowed as he tugged again. “Goddamn it, yes.”

“Wait until I do it when we’re in bed. You’ll come so hard that it’ll blow your mind.”

“Oh, Jesus.”

“Yeah, that.”

I didn’t curse often—but this moment certainly called for it. The carnality of what we were doing was unfathomable. The intimacy went straight to my head. Talk about going from zero to one hundred. Am I ready for this? He’d come here to have a conversation.

In my back pocket, my phone vibrated with an incoming call.

For a nanosecond, I considered ignoring it.

Tyson, obviously feeling the vibration, pulled back. “Donovan?”

“Possibly.” I yanked the phone out and checked the screen. Pressing accept, I met Tyson’s brown eyes with pupils blown wide. “You’re on speaker.” As I said the words, I hit speaker.

“And you’re with…”

“Hi, Donovan.” Tyson’s voice was a little hesitant. A little breathless.

Donovan chuckled. “Oh, please tell me I’m interrupting something.”

Interestingly, Tyson’s cheeks flamed red.

“You are.” I said the words tentatively.

“Fucking hell. I’m stuck on the sound stage, and you guys are up there generating all kinds of heat?”

“We…uh…” Words failed me.

“Look…I know we need to talk. That maybe you’re even using sex—”

“Not sex.” Tyson said the words while holding my gaze. “Not yet, anyway. For that, we need you.”

“I was going to say we need to talk.” Because that was always my go-to on any highly charged emotional issue.

“Action now. Talk later.” Tyson’s light-brown eyes glittered.

Interesting. Clearly, he’s been to see his boss.

As I had. I could only imagine what he’d faced.

In some ways, my punishment didn’t feel hard enough.

And even though Allie and Smith had ended the meeting in a lighthearted discussion about BDSM—and wasn’t that a mindfuck—I had left despondent.

Unwilling, or unable, to share much with my men. “Yes. Talk.”

“Later.” Tyson stroked my cheek. “When you’re here.” He held my gaze but said the words to Donovan.

“Well, I’ll let you get back to—” Donovan started.

“Why’d you call, Donovan? How did you know?” I cut him off. Because I was damn curious how he’d intuited that this exact moment was the right one to call.

He chuckled. “This is my third call to Hamish this morning.”

Slowly, I nodded.

“And I planned to start calling you this afternoon.” Tyson to me.

“Don’t you have, you know, work to do?” Me to Donovan.

“Julie’s on a break. She’s shooting a scene with another good guy. Who turns out to be bad, but that’s for another day.”

I swallowed. Hard.

“We’ve got time. Filming with Cole won’t resume for weeks—or even months. He’ll have restrictions as well. I’ll be working with his doctor and his physiotherapist. But he’s going to make it back.” He said the words with an absolute certainty.

I didn’t know Cole as well as Donovan did, but the man’s determination had struck me from the first. As much as I believed he might need more counseling, in some ways he was dealing with the trauma better than Donovan.

Both carried guilt—but Donovan was the one who refused to admit he’d saved a life.

At least Cole could acknowledge Julie could’ve been grievously wounded if he hadn’t knocked her to the ground and protected her with his body.

“Before we get together again, there’s something you need to know.

” I cleared my throat. “I filed a report about my behavior to the College for Psychologists. They’re likely going to do an investigation, and there’s a chance I’m going to lose my license.

I’m on suspension from work until this is all resolved.

” I clenched my jaw. “My bosses aren’t thrilled, to be sure, but they’re not horrifically upset either.

” I waited, but no response came. “In fact, they’ve met you a couple of times and had some interesting things to say about you. ”

“This college thing is bullshit. I’ll tell them what happened. I’ll tell them I never saw you as my counselor. I’ll tell them…” Donovan let out a frustrated sigh. “Fuck this shit.” His voice trailed off. Then he gasped. “Who did you say your bosses are?”

“Alessandra and Smith MacLean.”

More resounding silence.

“Well, shit.” Donovan chuckled. “Yeah, I know them. What did they, uh, say?”

“They mentioned you have interesting extracurricular activities.”

“Well, I warned you.”

Tyson cocked his head. “Okay, you guys have to loop me in.”

Donovan sighed—a truly long-suffering one at that. “Smith MacLean owns Club Kink.”

Tyson slowly nodded. Yeah, he clearly knew about kink. “Vancouver’s premier kink club?” Unnecessary clarification but, again, this was news to him.

I cocked an eyebrow.

“Hell yes.” Donovan chuckled.

“And I take it you’ve been out to play?”

More silence. “Is there a right way to answer that?” Donovan gave a little chortle. To me, it sounded a little forced.

“You told me you wanted to break Hamish in a cathartic BDSM scene.” Tyson said the words deadpan.

What the hell? “You said the same thing to me.” Because now that this was in the open, I was truly curious.

Donovan’s gulp resounded. “I was high on painkillers—”

“So you didn’t mean it? Because I trust you as a man of your word. If you say something, even while doped up, I believe—” I was ready to keep going. Where, I wasn’t certain. But I’d try.

“Fucking hell, Hamish, of course I want that. You? At my mercy? With Tyson watching—maybe even participating? Oh my God, I want that so badly.” His voice shook.

“But I’d never do anything you didn’t agree to.

If I didn’t make it clear then, I’m making it clear now.

And I’d never do it without Tyson’s agreement. ”

“Well, we’re a very long way from that.” I said the words dryly. Even if the idea of being at your mercy gives me a thrill. Allie and Smith had been…explicit. On what might take place. I raised my hand slowly—asking permission to speak.

Tyson nodded.

“We, uh, really need to sit down. And talk. Because Tyson’s still risking his job—”

Tyson cleared his throat.

I blinked.

He cleared his throat again.

“Fuck another duck.”

“That’s a lot of duck fucking, Donovan.” I tried for a smile. “Someone might think you’ve got a fetish—”

“What’s up with your job? Tell me you didn’t lose it. How’d they even find out about us? Did you tell your partner? Cole’s no fan of hers.”

Tyson’s expression read pure shock as his mouth opened. “Mariah…” He swallowed. “Mariah suggested I not tell my sergeant. But secrets have a way of coming out at the worst potential moments. With you in the limelight—”

“I’m not famous.”

“Donovan, you were on the red carpet for the Golden Globes. I know you want to act like you’re an everyman, but you’re not—and pretending otherwise would be na?ve on all our parts. Better to just lay everything out.”

“And?” No missing the impatience.

“Two weeks’ suspension without pay and a visit to the psychologist—”

“I want to be there.”

Tyson chuckled. “Oh, I’m sure you would.” He eyed me. “But no. This is something I have to do on my own. But—” He frowned. “I’ll share everything with both of you. Together.”

“Everything?” Donovan sounded skeptical.

Part of me felt offended for Tyson. The bigger part chuckled.

“Yes, everything.” He strung the word out on an exaggerated tone.

“About your past as well? Because there’s something you’re not saying.”

Tyson’s gaze shot to me.

I cocked my head.

He winced.

“In his own time.” I attempted soothing. “We won’t push.”

“Oh, we won’t, will we?” Donovan’s tone hit just the right note of amused. “Well, whatever you say, Doc.”

I rolled my eyes.

“You know, he really hates that nickname.” Tyson sticking up for me.

“I don’t—”

He cut me off with a glare.

“Okay, maybe.” I mumbled the words.

Donovan snickered. “Took you long enough.”

I blinked yet again. “A test?”

“Of sorts.” Donovan sighed. “And maybe not a fair one—but I needed to know you’d stand up to me. I can’t break you if I don’t know you’ll bounce back to being defiant.”

“A brat,” Tyson supplied.

I swallowed convulsively. “What?”

“I’ll explain it some other time.” Tyson whispered the words.

Donovan snickered. “Okay, has everyone unburdened themselves? For now, at least?”

I wasn’t looking forward to sharing the rest of my shit—but I also knew, without an iota of doubt, that I needed to share. But I wouldn’t be unburdening myself only to burden the men I cared so deeply for.

So you tell yourself.

“Since Tyson and I aren’t working, I’m going to keep him here until you get back tonight.” My cock hardened at the idea.

“Okay, but no actual fucking.” Donovan huffed. “Oh, oh, unless Hamish fucks Tyson, but I want to be the one to claim Hamish’s ass—”

“Uh—”

Tyson must’ve sensed my panic, because he pressed his hand to my arm. “Uh, Donovan, we’re a long way from fucking.”

“Sure, but—”

“Donovan.” Tyson injected as much sternness in his voice as he could likely manage. “Hamish may never be ready—”

“Oh no.” I stammered a little. “I’ll definitely figure out a way to be ready, but…”

“Only with the three of us,” he finished for me.

I nodded fervently—glad he’d understood.

“Yeah, okay.” Donovan sighed. “Damn it, I want to hold you both so badly. Maybe you can do a video chat and—”
