Chapter 10
Chapter Ten
A fucking fluke.
What bullshit.
Rage had wanted to avoid kissing her again, right up until she called his reaction to her a fucking fluke.
He stepped right into that bullshit. The truth was, how he felt about her was real. If he was ready to settle the fuck down, that was one thing. He wasn’t.
Not then.
Maybe not ever.
He liked his freedom: being able to do what he wanted whenever he fucking wanted. It would be difficult to do that being tied down with an ol’ lady.
He’d consider doing Lyric if she wasn’t a club sister, but she was. And he really didn’t need to deal with Crow and Jazz’s disapproval or disappointment. If what they did got out, her parents wouldn’t be the only ones giving him shit, so would his own.
The other issue would be if shit went sideways between them. It might create some fucking static among him and the OGs, as well as the rest of the sisterhood.
They were already enough of a pain in his ass.
She assured him that she wouldn’t tell anyone. Not even Avery, her closest club sister.
Except it wasn’t worth the risk. His connection with Lyric was too damn valuable to destroy it by being a horny fuck. She might never forgive him if he hurt her, even if he didn’t mean to.
Like he told her, she wasn’t simply a hole to fill. Plenty of other women existed to get his rocks off, like sweet butts, hang-arounds, and randoms. He didn’t want to disrespect her by fucking her, then moving on if she expected more. She deserved a hell of a lot better than that.
Even so, it was no fucking lie that she tempted him. She always had. The connection between them was a lot more than the grounding effect she had on him.
But, for fuck’s sake, he wasn’t feeling very grounded standing in his kitchen with her only inches away from him, encouraging him to kiss her.
Don’t fuckin’ take the bait, asshole. You’ll kick your own fuckin’ ass if you screw up what you got with her.
Of course you wanna do more than kiss her. You wanna eat her pussy ’til she squirms. Pinch her nipples until they’re puckered tight. Slide into her slick, tight cunt. But to actually do any of that—
“Ash…” Her shaky whisper made him realize he had closed his eyes and gotten stuck in his own head.
He was his own worst enemy.
Fuckin’ motherfucker! He had wanted to avoid hurting her, but seeing it in her face made him realize it was too late.
“It wasn’t a fluke, was it?”
“Told you it wasn’t. But we always want what we can’t have,” he answered.
“No one said you can’t have what you want. But you’re the one stopping me from getting what I want.”
“Lyric,” he warned. “Playin’ with fuckin’ fire here.”
The hurt filling her face suddenly disappeared and was replaced with determination.
And that scared the fuck out of him.
Especially after she locked eyes with him as she said slowly, “Let it burn.”
Holy fuck! This woman!
“Ain’t gonna hold shit against me, right?” Because women tended to do that. And they never fucking forgot, either. They could dig up shit from five years ago. Something long forgotten.
Yeah, they tended to cling to grudges as tightly as they did their purse while walking through a bad neighborhood at night.
“I’ll take responsibility for my decision,” she assured him, like it was really that simple.
“You say that now…”
“You’d never hurt me on purpose.”
While that was true… “That don’t mean you won’t get hurt.”
“I’m okay with that risk. I wouldn’t have come here this morning if I wasn’t.”
Fuck! He closed his eyes again because the pleading in hers was too much to resist.
This would come back to bite him in the ass. He just fucking knew it.
His dick had gotten hard from just a goddamn kiss. He might not be able to control himself if she let him go unchecked.
And she had no idea how dangerous that could be.
She went up on her toes, bringing their mouths closer together. “Kiss me.”
“This time it ain’t gonna be just a kiss,” he warned.
“No risk. No reward,” she whispered, lightly drawing her short nails across his bare chest.
For fuck’s sake. She was trying to make him lose his goddamn mind, wasn’t she?
Her words echoed through his mind again. No risk. No reward.
Fuck me. He wasn’t lying when he said she was playing with fire because he was burning hot right now.
His dick flexed in his jeans when she flicked his nipple.
Lyric would be his downfall.
If they did this, they’d never be the same again. Things between them would change whether they wanted them to or not.
But, of course, none of those worries stopped him from once again dropping his head and capturing her mouth.
She tasted so damn good. He probably tasted like shit and stunk like a cheap whore. She had woken him up before he had a chance to shower or brush his teeth.
Except she hadn’t pushed him away yet. In fact, she wrapped her arms around his neck and used one hand against the back of his head to keep their lips connected.
Could his dick get any harder? Luckily, it was trapped at a crooked angle in his unfastened jeans, otherwise his one-eyed monster would be peeking its head out.
She wanted this. He should give Lyric what she wanted.
She came to him.
She insisted he kiss her.
She said she’d keep it secret.
No risk, no reward was exactly what she’d said.
She was an adult. She managed a successful business. She was capable of making her own decisions.
And she knew him. Better than most.
Yeah, this might be fucking stupid, but he’d never claimed to be smart, especially when his dick was hard.
Hooking his arms under her ass, he hauled her off her feet and crushed her against him while deepening the kiss and conquering her mouth like a Viking invading a village.
From there on out, it would be up to her to stop him. To tell him no. To tell him he was too much.
That was one reason he rarely fucked randoms. He didn’t want to deal with any kind of accusations. True or not.
But this was Lyric. Someone he never thought he’d have because of them being opposites. She’s always had a calm aura around her like her father.
Unlike him.
He’d never seen her get so angry that she got into a fight or a shouting match, or even made a scene. Unlike some of their other mouthy club sisters who were always spoiling for a fight or ready to butt heads at the drop of a fucking hat.
Lyric handled things quietly. Unlike him.
She extracted herself from bad situations while he aggressively dealt with that shit head on.
The woman was in no way weak, but she had a quiet strength about her. She thought things through first instead of popping off.
Yeah, she really was her father’s daughter.
While Rage was more like his uncle’s son.
But he didn’t want to think about blood family right now. Not when he was sporting a raging hard-on as he carried Lyric down the hallway to his bedroom with nothing but bad intentions.
He stopped at the doorway to his bedroom and freed her mouth. “Sure you wanna do this?” Because if she wasn’t, he wasn’t taking one more step toward his bed.
She ran the tip of her nose along his bearded jawline and whispered, “Yes.” Her warm breath tickled his neck.
His dick flexed and he swore his balls tightened in his jeans.
His bedroom was dark since the blinds were still closed, and he wanted to be able to see her. Every damn inch.
As he set her down on her feet, she slid down his body and over his dick, making him bite back a groan. He flipped the switch just inside the door and scanned the bedroom, trying to see it through her eyes.
Yeah, it was a disaster like the rest of his apartment. Between managing Heaven’s Angels and being the enforcer of the Dirty Angels, it wasn’t like he had time to keep his place neat.
Anyway, that was what sweet butts were for. He’d need to text a few of them later and they could tackle the mess.
But for now, she’d have to live with it.
“Probably ain’t what you’re expectin’.”
“It’s…” She made a pained face.
The funny thing was, she wasn’t much neater. Her office at the shop proved it.
“Yeah. Got a spare bedroom but it’s probably just as bad.” Since he never had guests using the room, he usually tossed shit in there to get it out of the way.
“I…uh…Are your sheets clean?”
“Really gotta ask? But what we’re about to do’s gonna make ‘em dirty, anyway.”
“Yes, but—”
“Changin’ your mind?” If she did, in one way, he’d be disappointed, in another, he’d be relieved. But he’d let her decide.
The look of determination was back in her eyes. “No.” She stepped farther into his room.
He took those moments to check her out, focusing on the way her perfect ass looked so damn good in the black pants hugging her legs and tucked into black, ankle-high boots.
But besides her ass, his eyes were drawn to her almost black hair in the neat braid that hung halfway down her back.
He swore he’d waited a lifetime to comb his fingers through the those strands. To feel her silky hair against his body.
For fuck’s sake, he had to still be asleep, right? Was this some sort of dream? Lyric couldn’t really be standing in his bedroom about to fuck him.
“Baby.”
She glanced over her shoulder at him in question.
“I’m awake, right?”
Her forehead puckered. “What?”
He shook his head at himself for being such a stupid ass.
He closed in on her as she bent over in the center of his messy bedroom and pulled off her boots. Once she straightened, it really hammered home the fact that at six-foot-three he was a foot taller than her.
When she reached for her pants, he stopped her with, “Wait.” What he was about to do next was something he’d only ever dreamed about. A dream that was about to become a reality.
He stepped behind her and squeezed her shoulders before sliding his hands to the crooks of her neck and pressing both thumbs into her spine. When her shoulders dropped and her head fell slightly forward, he realized how tense she’d been.
Clearly, she was nervous. He needed to take shit slow with her and not be an aggressive bastard like he normally was. Because he usually wanted to just pound it out and move the fuck on.
She groaned and relaxed even more when he circled and pressed his thumbs into her warm flesh.
