Chapter 18 #2

He shut up and waited for Vi’s pushback on that. Since her father had held the sergeant at arms position before Rage took over, she knew better than most what his position entailed. She also knew how seriously a good enforcer took their responsibilities.

“Just curious, would you keep Piper in the dark when it came to somethin’ that might affect the Angels of Fury?” Chill asked like the level-headed man he was. Using her own MC against her was genius.

Hopefully.

He always figured that the older Zeke got, the more he would end up like Chill or their father Zak. Except it took Zeke’s ol’ lady showing back up with his son in tow for that to start happening.

Better late than never.

Zeke was now more present than ever when it came to the club. A club he wanted his son involved in when he was old enough.

“Remember,” Chill began, “lettin’ the Souls get away with whatever the fuck they want’s only gonna weaken our hold on our territory. Bein’ seen as weak will bite us all in the ass. Includin’ you and this club-owned business.”

If Zeke hadn’t already been slated to become president all those years ago, Chill would’ve made a great one. Unfortunately, he was perfectly content with being the vice president so he’d never challenge his older brother when it came time to vote in the officers.

Zak had originally pushed the membership to vote in his oldest son as president, even when Zeke didn’t deserve it. The former president had hoped it would force Zeke to straighten his ass out.

Unfortunately, it took too many fucking years for that to become a reality.

Zeke was proof that having a kid could change a man. Luckily for the DAMC president, and the rest of the membership, the change was for the better.

Even so, bringing Chill along to this meeting was the perfect move.

“Thinking that might be a good idea,” Reaper said from his spot next to Rage.

Thank fuck someone else was on their side.

Grim finally spoke up. “Chill’s got a damn good point.”

Once he did, so did Ghost. “Yeah. There’s gonna be some shit we might not be able to share, but for the most part, we can keep them updated.”

T-Bone said his piece next. “We don’t need any of our club brothers accidentally getting in the way of one of these planned set-ups and keeping them informed of the basics might prevent that.”

Zeke addressed Grim, Ghost, and T-Bone. “Know you belong to both camps. What we talk ‘bout in here don’t get spread over there. Got me?”

“They won’t be saying shit,” Vi assured him.

“Need to hear it from them,” Zeke insisted.

Except Rage didn’t think that was necessary. Apparently, Vi thought so too when she responded, “You just heard it from me.”

“We don’t need loose fucking lips,” Reaper said. “We don’t need someone fucking up this manufactured war before it even starts, even accidentally. The less people who know about it, the better.”

Indie then forewarned, “We can’t guarantee this is going to work, either. If not, we’ll have to come up with another solution.”

“Long as there’s a fuckin’ solution,” Rage muttered.

“It might not be as quick as you’d like because we need to be careful,” Vi warned. “If the Russos or Chens find out we’re manipulating them, we’re fucked. We don’t have the firepower, or manpower, to go against two large crime families like that.”

If that happened, the DAMC would become a target for both. It would make a bad situation a fuck of a lot worse.

As much as he’d like to go in and totally decimate both the Russos and the Souls in one big swoop, it wasn’t realistic. Patience would be required.

Something he didn’t have a lot of. Luckily, Chill and the Shadows did.

“All right. Now that we’re on the same page and have decided this is how we’re going to handle it, we’ll hammer out the smaller details.

Keep telling us when and where you see the Souls so we can keep track and we’ll also start documenting all the places the Russos and their organization own or hang out so we can target them and leave clues. ”

Indie picked up where her older sister left off. “Those clues won’t be blatant. We want the Russos to work hard to find out who’s fucking with them. This way it seems more realistic. Anything obvious will be too suspicious.”

“What kind of shit are you gonna do to fuck with ‘em?” Zeke asked.

“Now that we know this is the direction we’ll take, we’ll figure out the Chens’ normal methods of screwing with their enemies and do that. I mean, unless it involves nuclear weapons or some such shit. We do have some limits,” Vi answered.

“At least we now have a solid plan,” Chill said.

“As long as that shit remains solid and doesn’t turn into explosive diarrhea,” Reaper muttered.

Grim, Ghost, and T-Bone all grunted in unison, making Rage swallow his own.

He was damn sure this “mission” wouldn’t go as smoothly as it sounded. Nothing ever fucking did.

“Now…get the fuck out of my warehouse. We have important shit to do,” Vi announced.

As Chill and Zeke stood, Rage pushed away from the wall and turned toward Vi. “Keep us updated.”

“Who do you want as the point of contact?” She lifted a finger. “And don’t say all three of you. It’s not going to happen.”

After he and Zeke exchanged glances, the prez said, “Make it Rage since sometimes I ain’t available when I got Ledger with me.”

Damn. More proof that Zeke was starting to use his brain to make decisions instead of his dick or emotions. Or his temper.

“You got it.”

As the three of them went to leave, Vi called out, “Hey!”, making them pause near the doorway. “Did you ask your biker board whether Reaper will get to wear DAMC colors?”

Biker board? Vi, having both DAMC blood and being a member of the Angels of Fury, was simply busting their balls. Like normal.

Zeke answered with, “Will let you know soon’s we do. But you know it ain’t only up to the officers, the majority of the membership gotta agree.”

“Like I said, we’ll get this done. You get that done.”

Rage glanced at Reaper, who hadn’t moved an inch from where he leaned against the wall. His face was a blank mask.

If the Shadow really wanted to wear a DAMC cut, he sure was letting Vi push for it instead of doing it himself.

The fuck if Rage would ever let a woman speak for him.
