Epilogue
Declan
Skylar’s dark red hair falls in waves over her creamy skin, her eyes rolling back, her hand pressed hard against the headboard, as she rides me.
She looks like a fucking goddess, flushed and panting as she uses my body for her pleasure.
I love when we're like this. Hell, I just love fucking her. Period.
“Open your eyes, baby.”
They snap open, her pupils so dilated the black has swallowed almost all the green. She knows I like her eyes on me when she comes, and her pussy clenches against my cock, telling me she's close. I’m barely holding on by a thread myself.
Digging my fingers into her hips, I hold on tight and flip us so I’m on top, just to hear her squeal. I’m addicted to every sound she makes when I’m inside her. “You gonna come for me, Firefly?”
She looks up at me, a hint of defiance crossing her face. “You gonna make me?”
I chuckle, sliding my hand around her throat, pressing lightly against her pulse while I continue to pound into her.
“Fuck, fuck. Declan.”
“Shhh. We have to be quiet, remember?”
“I’m gonna…fuck,” she says, lowering her voice a little.
“Say it,” I demand, thrusting faster. The bed starts scratching against the wall, but I’m too far gone to give a fuck.
“I’m going to come, Declan.”
“Where?” I whisper. “Tell me.”
“On your cock. I’m gonna come on your cock.”
“That’s right, Firefly. Do it.”
I reach down to flick her clit, and she detonates, her body convulsing, as I draw out every single pulse and flutter, still massaging her sensitive bundle of nerves with my thumb. I follow suit, pressing my lips to her mouth to muffle my moans as I spill inside her.
I collapse, pulling her to me so we’re both on our sides, and lightly run my fingers down her arm. “I can’t wait to put a baby in you.”
The moment I say it, I freeze, my fingers stilled on her skin. What the fuck was I thinking? It’s too soon to talk about that. We’ve been married for less than a year, and part of that time was spent learning how to be together again.
“What?” Her tone isn’t one of surprise, it’s more curious.
“I—I mean. I was thinking it, and then it just came out.”
I shift my body to give her some space, but she pulls me closer. “Declan.” My eyes snap to hers. They’re so bright and green, and now I see it—the hope in them. “I want that too.”
I instantly feel myself thicken at the thought, forgetting for a second that I’m still inside her until her eyebrows crinkle.
“Did you…are you getting hard again at the thought of impregnating me?” she asks, pushing up to lean on her elbow.
“Maybe.” I sit up too, mirroring her position, but I still don’t make a move to pull out. I know I’m going to eventually have to, but another few seconds can’t hurt. “Does that weird you out?”
“No,” she giggles. “I am surprised by your body’s lack of concern for science, though.”
I laugh, deep and hearty and real. “Baby, science has nothing on you.”
She smiles. “Apparently.”
“Plus I didn’t have sex for the first five years of my twenties. That basically makes me a teenager again.”
“So I’ve noticed,” she teases.
“You fucking love it.” I bend down, about to show her how much when there’s a soft knock at the door followed by hushed words I can barely make out.
“I’m just checking on them. It’s almost ten. Maybe one of them is sick,” a woman’s voice says.
“Kat, no one is sick.” That one is masculine, a little raspy.
“How do you know that, Dave? Skylar, dear, is everything okay?”
Skylar sits up higher, causing me to slip out of her, and I can feel my cum sliding out of her and onto the sheets. “Oh my god,” she whispers, pulling the covers over her head. “Um, yeah Mom, everything is…um…fine.”
“Told you,” the gruff voice says again. “Let’s give them a minute.”
Skylar’s stepfather may still be recovering from transplant surgery, but it hasn’t clouded his judgment. Unlike Skylar’s mom, he knows exactly what just transpired in here.
“What’s going on?” a third voice calls. It’s younger, probably Skylar’s stepbrother, who I haven’t met yet. He was out with his friends when we arrived last night.
“Skylar and Declan have been in there all morning,” her mom explains, a slight edge of exasperation in her tone.
“Oh,” the younger voice says. “Maybe we should give them a minute, Kat.” I smile to myself. Like father, like son.
“Well, breakfast is ready whenever you are. I mean, it’s cold now, but I can warm the pancakes back up, in the oven and the fruit salad…
well, that’s already cold.” Her voice continues to grow further and further away as if she’s being pulled in another direction.
“If you could give me an estimate as to when you’ll be up? " she calls out.
That’s the last we hear of her before silence fills the room and we’re alone again.
Skylar peeks out from the blanket, burying her head in her hands, as her cheeks flush hot pink.
“Oh my God,” she repeats, making me laugh again.
She lightly slaps my chest with the back of her hand.
“This isn’t funny. My mom, stepdad, and stepbrother were on the other side of the door while your cum was running down my leg. ”
“Come on. It’s a little funny.” She rolls her eyes, and I take her hand in mine. “Besides, it was your idea to fuck this morning.”
“I didn’t hear you complaining when I woke you up and climbed on top of you,” she counters.
My smile turns lazy as I rub the back of her hand. “I would never complain about that. Any time of day or night. You know that’s my motto.”
“Yeah, well, as much as I’d love to stay in this love nest with you for the rest of the day, we better go make an appearance downstairs before my mom calls the authorities.”
We flew into California last night, rented a car, and drove to the little beach town where Skylar’s parents live.
It’s the second time we’ve been here in the last five months.
The first time was when Dave had his surgery.
True to her word, Skylar used her inheritance to pay for it in full, and it was as successful as any transplant surgery could be.
He was laid up for a while, but so far there have been no signs of rejection, and he’s been able to go back to work.
Skylar’s mom was shocked to find out she was married, especially to me, of all people, but like with Ash, I don’t think Skylar ever told her mother the full extent of what happened between us.
I don’t like knowing that she had to cover for me, but I’m thankful I get to have a clean slate with her mom.
All she really remembers is that I’m Skylar’s friend from high school.
Her parents invited us here this weekend so we could go to the town’s annual fall festival where Skylar’s mom has a booth for her flower business.
Palm trees and eighty degree weather don’t exactly scream autumn to me, but I guess it’s California’s version of it.
We can go apple picking and play in the leaves when we get back home.
I want to do all of it with Skylar—matching couples costumes’ for Halloween, picking out a tree for Christmas.
We have years to make up for, and I don’t want to miss out on a second of it.
“Come on, lover boy,” Skylar teases. “Let’s scrub some of the sex off before we go down for breakfast.”
Skylar’s parents live in a little bungalow by the beach.
It’s small, but they do have a guest room which they insist we stay in when we visit.
Thankfully, there’s a bathroom attached to it so we don’t have to go far to shower.
I promise to be a good boy in said shower, but the smell of her green apple shampoo makes me hard.
I end up fucking her slowly from behind as she presses her hands against the tile before we get dressed and head downstairs.
Skylar’s mom greets us with a smile, her earlier irritation long forgotten.
She has the same auburn hair, although hers is a tiny bit darker and her eyes are more turquoise than green.
I think Skylar gets her eye color from her dad, but I haven’t asked.
Her mom piles plates high with pancakes, bacon and fruit salad, and we sit down to eat.
Her stepdad clears his throat, doing his best impression of a concerned father, and asks me about my plans for the future.
Skylar rolls her eyes, but I tell him about the new business I started.
If someone had told me a year ago that I would be making and selling wine-related art and furniture, I would have laughed in their face.
I’ve always loved working with my hands, and after I made that impromptu champagne ring for Skylar, it all sort of clicked.
I realized there were other things I could make, like wine racks out of old barrels, coffee tables from corks.
The irony is, I don’t even like wine. Well, that’s not totally true.
I like the idea of it—the life it holds and the struggle that goes into making it.
It takes actual blood, sweat, and tears to make a single bottle of wine, but then at the end there are all these casualties.
Leftover materials. Why not make something beautiful out of them?
Skylar’s mom listens excitedly as I detail the projects I’m currently working on.
She even told me I should have brought some items to sell at the fall festival.
I promise her that I will do so next year.
Because there will be a next year. Skylar and I are endgame.
I’ve never been more sure about anything in my life.
“When do your mom and sister arrive?” Kat asks me, taking a sip of her chamomile tea. Aside from the fall festival, this weekend is also about our families finally coming together. Our moms have met before, but it’s been years and my mom has never met Skylar’s stepdad.
