Chapter Twenty-Two Liza

It’s been a couple of weeks since the incident at the hospital.

I was shocked when Dragon just turned around and left without giving into what he clearly wanted.

I felt how hard he was and I know he likes angry sex, we’ve had it so much lately.

But what he said and then walked away shocked me.

Later that day I got a text from him telling me he was headed out for a while on club business and he wasn’t sure when he’d be back.

It’s been the boys and myself at his house and it has been weird.

I miss him, the boys miss him, but I’d never tell him all that.

The boys have told me that he FaceTimes them when they are at daycare and I feel good about the fact that he is at least seeing the boys, but he hasn’t said anything to me since he texted that he was leaving.

I have noticed his brothers have been coming by a lot more since he has been gone and even some of the women have been coming by when I’m home as well.

It’s been an adjustment and I decided that maybe dating Declan wasn’t the best idea with how messed up and confused I was feeling about Dragon.

Declan understood and honestly was very sweet about it.

He did tell me that if anything changes to let him know he’d be very happy to start something up with me again.

Today after work I have Peyton and Rose coming over.

Rose is now seven months pregnant and we are working on a baby shower for her.

She’s asked us to not tell Rage, we’ve been trying very hard to convince her that his family should be there, but she wants no part in it.

I know he hurt her, but at some point she is going to have to coparent with him.

Walking into the clubhouse to pick the boys up from Rachel’s daycare room I bump into Rage.

“Oh sorry, excuse me.”

I try to walk past him, but he grabs my arm.

“I need to speak with you, please.”

“Whatever do we have to speak about, Rage? We aren’t exactly friends. Plus you hurt my best friend and I really don’t take too kindly to that.”

He looks around the room before practically dragging me to the hallway out of the view of any of the brothers in the room.

“I need to talk to you about Rose. I don’t know anything that is going on with the baby or her. She really doesn’t tell me shit. My family wants to throw her a baby shower, but she has shut down that idea as well saying you are throwing one. I want to talk to her.”

Looking at Rage I notice a whole bunch of things in the way he is presenting himself to me right now.

He looks lost, honestly like he hasn’t slept in months and he looks almost desperate.

You know I grew up with bikers and honestly a lot of them are manwhores, like Rage here.

I don’t know a lot about his life, but I know that whatever happened to him growing up he certainly does everything he can to avoid any sort of commitment.

“Listen, I can’t really help you here. I’ve tried to talk to Rose about you and the baby, but she isn’t having it. I can’t really force her to do anything. She asked me to throw her a baby shower, I asked about telling you and your family and she isn’t having it.

Rose is hurt and she shuts herself down. I don’t know how much you all talked about her past and honestly if it is anything like my relationship with Dragon, probably not a lot. Her past is hard, mine is dark. We all have our shit and we all handle it differently. Yours,

I don’t know all the details, but I can assume yours is hard too. Rose protects herself the only way she has ever known how and that is to put up walls the size of the wall of China. I think she’ll let you co-parent and all that,

but I really think you need to figure out your other shit you have going on. Don’t you have another kid or something? Maybe you should figure out that drama before your next baby gets here.”

I don’t even let him speak again before I move away from him and back towards the daycare to pick up my babies.

Opening the door to the daycare/playroom I am greeted with the joyful screams of tiny children playing.

I look and see Waylon and Walker running around chasing Delaney, making me laugh.

Sophie’s kids have really become like cousins to them and that just warms my heart that they have that.

With my family being on the other side of the country and them never having anything to do with their possible father, I am glad that something good other than Jaxon came out of my relationship with Dragon.

“Hey, Liza, how was work?” Rachel asks as she walks up to me.

“Busy, not as many major traumas today. So that was a blessing. How were the boys?”

“They were wonderful, as always. They were really excited when Twister came in and they got to facetime with Dragon. They have definitely been missing him. Even little Jaxon lights up. Waylon and Walker did some preschool stuff with me today. They did amazing. You are a fantastic mother.

They are so ready for wherever you put them in school.”

I thank her and then go and grab all of the bags, before grabbing Jaxon and putting him in his carseat.

I feel my phone start to ring as we hear chaos ensuing in the main room of the clubhouse.

I pick up the carseat and begin to usher the boys out of the daycare room and Rachel looks at me and tries to get me to stay in the room not knowing what is going on.

I look down at the boys and then up at Rachel and I put Jaxon’s carseat down and tell Rachel I will be right back and ask her to sit with the boys.

When she nods her head yes, I tell both Walker and Waylon I will be right back before heading downstairs.

“SHOTS FIRED AT THE PRES HOUSE!”

I hear yelled before I even make it downstairs.

“WHERE IS TERROR?”

“He’s at the office, get him on the phone now! The kids are in school, it’s Ruby!”

As I get to the common room I see all the brothers scrambling.

Lash is on the phone and I hear him talking to someone, another brother is on the phone with what sounds like 911.

Other brothers have run out of the room and out the back, probably to Terror’s home.

He lives in one of the closest houses to the clubhouse.

“Close the gates and put the place on lockdown until Terror gets here. He’s on his way. Prospect!” Lash is yelling out orders and I am just standing here stunned.

Someone was shot and it might be Terror’s woman, is she his ol’ lady? I don’t know, I really haven’t heard much. Peyton told me she was pregnant, but we haven’t been talking since I yelled at her for not minding her own business.

I walk up to Lash, “What is going on? Is it safe for me to take the boys to the house?”

He looks at me, “No, not yet. We need to figure out who fired that gun and if there is anyone else on the compound helping them. We need to assess if anyone is hurt.”

I look at him, “Ruby was there alone?”

“She had the day off yes and as far as I know hasn’t left the compound. So she is home. We don't know if maybe someone was practicing firing or not.”

The next thing I know, Wizard comes rushing in.

“Is someone headed to Pres’s house right now? Ruby was home and is the one that was shot. Stacy, the bitch that the pres had fucked a few times got on to the compound and went back to his house and shot Ruby. I called for an ambulance on dispatch,

alerted the hospital that we have a pregnant female being picked up and enroute.”

“Can you take me to the house?”

Lash looks at me and then back at Wizard, “Did the brothers get Stacy? Was she alone?”

“All the footage I looked through, she was by herself when she got in and up to the house. The brothers have confiscated her and brought her to the basement for when Terror feels like dealing with her. I sent a message out to all the brothers, even the ones helping with the runs.”

Lash nods his head and looks back at me, “Do you think you can help her until the ambulance arrives?”

“I can do my best.”

“Alright, follow me.”

I can feel my heart beating out of my chest as we make our way to Terror's home.

We are all running as fast as we can. I notice several brothers searching around the home and along the property as we make our way up the stairs.

When we get in I am met with a horror I didn’t think I would ever see in my life.

Laying on the floor in the living room is a beautiful red head, blood is coming out of her shoulder despite the brother that is putting pressure on it and another brother is placing pressure on another wound on her abdomen.

“Holy Fuck.” I hear Lash say next to me as I run over and relieve one of the brothers checking the wound or wounds on her abdomen.

I apply pressure and ask one of them to hold the fabric back over the wound and then quickly check her pulse. It is faint, but it is there.

“How far out is the ambulance?”

“They should be here any minute. Can you do anything to help her or the baby?”

“How far along is she?” I ask because obviously she is far enough along to show, but I don’t think she is full term.

Lash inhales and looks at Ruby with tears in his eyes, “She’s twenty-five weeks.”

I sigh, “Fuck.”

I go back to examine her and I notice that none of the wounds are through and through so that means bullets are lodged in her shoulder and her abdomen.

Who knows what amount of damage has been done and if anything hit the baby.

As I am assessing her and triaging the best I can in this situation we hear sirens and doors slamming.

The next thing I know she is being loaded onto a stretcher and carried out to the ambulance.

Most of the brothers run out of the house and head towards the clubhouse, I assume to get on their bikes.

I know I should head back inside and grab my kids so that Rachel can head to the hospital if she needs to be with them as well.

Running back into the clubhouse, I enter the security code for the daycare room and Rachel is running around trying to get all the children/s things put together.

“Hey, Rach, let me stay here and get everyone’s stuff together. I will wait for the parents to come get their kids, go get to Stoney so you guys can head up to the hospital.”

She pulls me in for a hug, “Thank you so much. I just really want to be there for Terror, I don’t know Ruby all that well, but I know how much she means to him. He has been through so much already and for this to happen. Did you see her?”

I nod my head, “I will take care of everything and then I’ll meet you guys at the hospital.”

She nods and heads out of the room. Now I just have to wait for all the brothers and their ol’ ladies to come and get their kiddos.
