15. Grace

Standing next to Matt, I’m flushing at the way he talks to me. I never in my life would have thought when I met this man those months ago that I would be falling for him, yet here I am. I could tell this afternoon when we got back that he was stressed out, so I thought spending some time on the lake would be good for him. And after the orgasm that he just gave me, it’s been even better for me.

“All righty, Cowboy, time for you to have a little fun.”

“If you think that what we just did wasn’t fun then there is something wrong with you. And I’ll need to have my way with you again,” he replies, coming to stand and wrapping his arms around my waist.

Playfully swatting his chest at his comment, I move around him to the captain”s chair.

“Whoa, whoa. What is happening right now, Red?” he says, looking at me like I just grew three heads when I start the boat up.

“Sit that ass of yours down. Let me drive this bad boy.”

“You sure you can manage it, baby?”

“Oh, I can manage it. Why don’t you get your wakeboard out and have some fun?”

Once he’s settled on his board in the water, I yell out, “Hang on, Cowboy.”

Gunning the boat to pull him out of the water, I watch in the mirror as he gets up and starts to move over the lake. He makes so much effort that it makes my heart soar even more. Shaking my head to clear my mind, I feel like my emotions are all over the place. The man has me falling for him. Trying to keep him at arm’s length for so long is futile. He may have been the fuckboy of the racing world, but in the brief time I’ve been with him, I’ve seen him changing.

We race down the lake, and Matt jumps waves with the biggest smile. I can see he’s finally relaxing. It’s reassuring that today was just what he needed. Slowing down, I watch as he sinks into the water before releasing his board and climbing back into the boat.

Watching the water fall down his amazing body, I just stop and stare at him. I can hear him clear his throat, so I look up and see he’s smiling that genuine smile only I see, and dammit, I blush.

“Wanna try, Red?”

Unable to control myself, I burst out into a fit of laughter.

“Did I say something funny?”

“Matt, there are a few things you need to learn about me. One, I”m not into any type of sports activities. And two, I will never know what to learn. I’m more the ‘sit on the sidelines and cheer those who are doing it’ girl.” I walk over to the co-captain’s chair and take a seat as Matt moves toward the captain’s chair, and we head back toward the house.

With the wind hitting my face as we race toward the house, I look over to the man whom I once loathed and realize that my ice heart may just be changing, and it scares the living hell out of me.
