Dynamo (Royal Bastards MC - Camden Maine Chapter #5)

By Elizabeth N Harris

Prologue.

Dynamo

Tired, I yawned as my Harley ate up the miles. Thank God I was nearly home. Tonight was a waste of time.

Kosmic, the club’s secretary, and I were returning from a clusterfuck of a fight. Luckily, we happened to be near the exit when the cops swarmed the warehouse. I’d covered Kosmic’s back as we ran.

The lookouts needed ass beatings. This wouldn’t have happened at one of my fights. Did the organisers even have them? People who kept watch and alerted guests that the cops were raiding us?

Fuckin’ amateurs.

When Kosmic and I had parked together, a skidding police car had forced both of us in different directions, and we’d been separated. I prayed he’d escaped, but I couldn’t call him as my phone screen cracked in the scramble to escape.

Kosmic would head home; that was the usual plan. Whoever arrived first would wake Warden and wait for the others to return. After an hour, Warden would sound the alarm.

That would be on me. I believed I was ahead of Kosmic, as the road he had taken was the long way around.

The moon peeked through the black clouds, and I searched for any sign of a Harley in front of me. Nada.

Shit.

I looked behind me.

The cop car had followed me, and while they had a shot of my bike kicking up dust, my patch was hidden. Standard practice when attending something that might be raided.

Still annoyed, I crested a hill and saw the Royal Bastard MC’s land in the distance.

We lived on what formerly was a farm. The clubhouse was huge, and tiny specks showed where a couple of houses were being built.

The land overlooked the coastline, and I could almost imagine the sound of the waves crashing against the cliffs. I loved Camden, Maine; it was home.

A hiss made me jump, and I flinched as a fly, or a bug, shot past my face.

Fuckin’ bugs.

I smothered a yawn again. Bed was waiting for me, well, once Kosmic was safe and sound. A sting hit my leg, and I slapped at it, feeling something. Confused, I glanced down and nearly came off my bike.

A dart had struck me. What the fuck?

I swept the area as I opened the throttle. I wasn’t far from home; I just hoped that whatever I’d been injected with wasn’t fast-acting.

That hope was dashed as, within moments, I felt muzzy.

I didn’t panic, not yet. I calmed my thoughts and reached for Romeo. We all shared a link to our telepath.

“Dynamo?” Romeo murmured into my mind.

“Romeo…”

A second dart pierced my shoulder, and I lost focus.

The Harley wobbled as a third dart landed.

“Romeo!” I shrieked, although I was unsure if he’d heard me. Everything around me was fuzzy, and I eased off the gas. I was going to lay my bike down; it was unavoidable. Hopefully, my motorcycle leathers would protect me.

“Dynamo!” Romeo roared, but I couldn’t reply. My mind was too foggy; a fourth dart helped close my connection.

My ride hit the ground.

The Royal Bastards would be riding, but I kinda thought they might be too late.
