Chapter Five.
Mike
I had confused the fuck out of Dynamo. She’d turned a few times to try and catch me ogling her, and when she didn’t, it threw her. No doubt Dynamo was used to male attention, wanted or otherwise. If she realised I knew the truth, she’d freak.
Tiredly, I drove home and paid the babysitter.
Unlike most parents, I didn’t have a teenage girl.
Nope, I hired a fully grown woman who looked after Raven and Robin.
She’d been vetted thoroughly before being allowed near them.
Checking on my angels, I smiled as I watched them snuggled down.
Then, turning off the lights, I headed to my office and booted up the laptop.
I clicked a secure data link and began searching for something related to Dynamo.
There was very little. Actually, there were hardly any facts in anything I discovered on the surface search.
Frowning, I expanded the range and again learned zilch.
The Camden chapter never faced criminal charges, received no jail time, and, honestly, none of them had even had a parking ticket.
It was impossible for the club to be clean.
The RBMC had to be buying their way out of trouble.
Lead after lead proved fruitless, and I sat back.
Typing in Royal Bastards nationwide, I discovered that several of the chapters played a role in ending local trafficking.
Again, nothing was black and white; more rumours and disappearances.
There was zilch about Dynamo disappearing and being trafficked.
Unwilling to accept that, I went deeper.
I dug into the club’s private phone records and found the time Dynamo disappeared.
Hundreds of calls happened over a two-week period, each number tracking to a different Royal Bastard MC chapter or ally.
The calls continued, but the initial flurry had happened then.
Unconcerned, I hacked Warden’s text messages and discovered images of Dynamo and favours called in.
Her club did not stop searching for her.
Idly, I wondered if Dynamo realised how hard they’d looked.
How had they found her? If a method to track traffickers existed, ACI needed to be aware of it. I had to find a way to broach the subject with Dynamo or one of the members without triggering anyone.
Just before I shut the laptop down, I sent Cipher a smiley face with the byline, ‘Two can play your game!’
Cipher
In confusion, I stared at the screen. How the hell did someone get past my security and firewall?
There were fewer than four with the required skills, and why would they bother?
Intrigued, I tried tracking the hack but hit a brick wall.
Grinding my teeth, I doubled down. I’d find out who this fucker was.
Dynamo
A week had passed since I’d seen Mike, but he’d not left my thoughts.
Those damn eyes that night haunted me, and I didn’t understand why.
The entire situation was puzzling. Once I’d returned to the clubhouse, Slasher healed me fully without a word.
By the time I woke the next day, nobody would know I’d been in a match.
“Dynamo!” a voice called, and I looked up and saw Iona walking towards me. Lindy accompanied her, and I nodded at the old ladies.
“Hey, we’re heading to Regal Ink. Soar is going to finish up my half sleeve,” Iona said.
“Looks great,” I replied.
“Want to join us?” Iona asked, and I gave her an incredulous look. What, because I had a pussy, I was part of the old lady gang?
Warden’s woman offered an uncertain smile. Fuck. Iona was still trying to find her feet after learning some harsh truths.
“Nah, I’m heading to Illuminate to help Rook with some paperwork, but thanks,” I said stiffly. Lindy broke into a wide grin as I moved past. Just as I was crossing the road, there was a stifled scream. Reacting instantly, I turned and witnessed Lindy being shoved down an alley.
My heart lurched.
I raced over and heard something that turned my blood cold.
“Warden needs reminding who’s in charge.”
Iona whimpered, and I entered the alley.
“Well, now. Guess we didn’t get all of you cunts,” I snarled.
McKay, the president of Screaming Barons, shoved a gun into Iona’s head. “Back the fuck up,” he ordered.
Iona’s eyes were wide and filled with fear.
“Nah. Picked the wrong time and place, McKay. This town belongs to the Royal Bastards.” Casually, I stalked forward, eyes narrowed as I recognised those standing behind him.
Knife, Crazed, and Duster. Rattle held a knife to Lindy’s throat.
How the fuck had these assholes escaped the destruction of the Screaming Barons clubhouse?
“How’s shit, Dynamo?” McKay sneered.
“You wanna shoot the wind?” I demanded and shook my head.
“Nah. I’m sending that spineless prick of a president a message.” McKay’s finger tightened on the trigger. Lindy gasped as the blade dug into her throat.
“Don’t. I’m pregnant,” Iona cried, and McKay grinned.
“Now, what a bonus! I’ll take Warden’s old lady and legacy,” McKay sneered.
“Let Iona go, McKay, and walk away,” I warned, gearing up. The air crackled as I began accessing my telekinesis.
Iona was the priority; it would be difficult saving both women. Losing Lindy would gut the club, but Iona carried a baby. Decision made, I raised my hands.
McKay cackled. “Sure look different with clothes on, Dynamo. I did like spanking that birthmark on your ass,” he sneered.
My power faltered as McKay’s words hit me. Beyond stunned, I absorbed their meaning and flinched.
“Damn, girl, you forgot I was there. Ain’t sure that’s a good thing. We had such a good time; your cunt was nice and tight,” McKay stated. “Wasn’t it, boys?”
Duster grinned and held up a dart gun. Chills ran down my spine as I was catapulted back into that nightmare.
“Kill the bitches and take Dynamo!” McKay ordered.
Rattle’s hand twitched and reached out.
I hauled Iona backwards and away from the bullet that was fired several seconds later.
Simultaneously, I yanked the knife from Lindy’s throat, ignoring the cry that came from her, and shoved it deep into Rattle’s shoulder.
The dart hit me in the mid-chest, and the coldness of a strong sedative washed over me.
“Romeo!” I screamed instantly. Our connection snapped into place and opened.
Romeo was moving before he even registered what was happening.
This was what we’d practised for. Romeo slammed into my mind, corralling the drug as it seeped through my veins.
The encroaching fog cleared, and I straightened and grinned at Duster.
Fear crossed McKay’s face, and he stepped back.
“Should have kept quiet,” I snarled as the air came alive. My hair began floating around me as static electricity sparked. With a scream, I tossed a heavy blast at the Screaming Barons.
They fell like skittles as I noticed movement from the side. Spinning, I turned and launched two members of the Bloody Scorpion MC against the others. Shit! Had McKay teamed up with them?
I grabbed all of them with my ability and smashed their heads against a wall.
“Dynamo! Lindy’s bleeding!” Iona yelled, panic in her voice.
As much as I wanted to stay and fight, to tear Duster and McKay apart, I was a Royal Bastard sister.
“Move,” I ordered. Reluctantly leaving McKay behind, I protected Iona and Lindy.
“Dynamo, I’ll be seeing you,” McKay threatened weakly, standing up.
“Yeah, make no mistake, McKay, you fuckin’ will, and you’ll regret everything,” I promised. “Iona, the Royal Ink, now.”
Iona didn’t argue, but scurried away with Lindy. I didn’t turn my back on those snakes. Releasing another blast, I knocked them flying, then raced towards the tattoo shop. Soar was coming out as I exited the alley.
Iona and Lindy had arrived safely.
Soar’s gun was out as he watched me close on him. He was alert and ready to shoot in an instant.
I reached him and nodded. “McKay, Duster, Knife, Rattle and Crazed are alive. They’re working with the Bloody Scorpions. Need to phone Warden.”
“Lindy’s inside with Iona. They’re both a bit shaken up. Lindy’s hurt, but not that bad, luckily enough. Spice would have gone Rambo on us,” Soar said.
I glanced over his shoulder and saw the shop had clients. “Can’t discuss this here. Warden will call church tonight. I’ll phone him now,” I stated and turned away.
“Where are you going?” Soar asked.
“Got a meeting with Rook at Illuminate.” “Iona mentioned what McKay claimed. You okay?”
Damn it, I hoped Iona hadn’t been listening. “Peachy. Just another fucker to kill, right?”
I shrugged Soar’s concern off and headed towards Illuminate, dialling Warden.
Pipes roared; McKay was running. Sadly, I couldn’t start a fight in public, or I’d have ripped McKay from his Harley.
Rook stood at the entrance of the nightclub, and honestly, was the last thing I needed right now. I wanted to absorb what McKay had claimed. But I didn’t have that luxury. There was work to be done.
The news had reached the club. It was obvious when I walked in.
Eyes bored into me, checking for cracks and tears.
There’d be no more crying. Shit, I was finished with that.
It solved nothing. Coolly, I nodded at my brothers and caught Dare’s gaze.
Dare searched my face for a few seconds before nodding.
“Church,” Warden said from the hallway. Vogue handed me a glass of Coke as she passed.
Grateful, I smiled slightly. She didn’t have to say anything; Vogue was showing her support by not speaking.
Warden banged the gavel once we were all seated and turned to me. “Church is in session. Dynamo, I owe you. Whatever you want is yours. I’d have lost Iona and my baby today if you’d not stepped in.”
“I want McKay alive,” I stated.
“We’ll make that happen,” Warden promised.
