Chapter Eight. #2
“They’re rescuing the women,” I replied as Warden exited the warehouse carrying a woman.
Her head lolled back, and blood streamed from her face.
She’d been badly beaten, and her clothes were torn.
Warden laid her down, and Slasher appeared—his hands already glowing.
Slasher reached down and laid them on her as Undertaker shoved a guy out who was trying to yank his pants up.
Dynamo faced him with such an expression of hate that I flinched.
She slammed him to the ground and tore his clothes off.
A plank of wood ripped off the warehouse wall, and Dynamo whacked him repeatedly with it, beating him to a pulp.
Then, without a blink, she mentally grabbed a random piece of piping and shoved it up his ass.
Terrified shouts and cries came from those watching as Dynamo did to him what he’d done to his poor victim.
“Christ!” Gage whispered.
“Yeah, stay back, she’s frightening,” I agreed.
“That’s Dale Winson,” Spawn murmured, identifying the guy being assaulted in front of us.
“That’s fucked up. He’s on a board that champions women and fights trafficking, and here he is at an auction. Shit, what a motherfuckin’ asshole,” I whispered.
Vans pulled up, and Warden turned to one as Anubis opened the doors. They shoved several men inside who’d been knocked unconscious and one woman.
“They need to call the cops,” Jude muttered, “or those assholes will get away with it.”
“No, they won’t,” a voice spoke into our heads. We froze. Romeo. “Come down.”
“Shit,” Jude complained, but stood up. Gage, Spawn, and I followed him down as The Royal Bastards turned to watch.
“Seems we’ve got a problem,” Warden declared as we approached. I tried to ignore the squirming man screaming on the floor, but it was hard. Dynamo gazed at me dispassionately but didn’t ease up on her torture. Her arms folded, and in fact, she upped the aggression.
“You don’t seem surprised to see us,” Jude stated.
“Your little Jedi mind trick… it failed, but you sure got our attention.” The words hadn’t left my mouth before we were flung against a wall. Dynamo stalked forward, a hand outstretched.
“Warden?” she hissed, cocking her head towards them.
“Romeo knew your minds were working against him. The training you had, right?” Warden replied. “We can turn you into mush, but we’re showing restraint.”
That was the total opposite of what Dynamo and Vogue were doing.
“Walk away,” Warden said, glancing at Romeo.
“What?”
“If you don’t, you’ve signed your death warrants. If Romeo can’t wipe your minds, you’re a threat. This ain’t personal, but…” he began, but Jude started laughing.
“Look down,” Jude murmured. Dynamo and the others out here did and froze. On their cuts was a red dot. “This ain’t personal,” Jude mocked.
“Huh, look at that,” Warden sneered. “Problem is we’ve got Noble; your bullets won’t pierce his shield.”
Jude pulled a grenade from his pocket. As did the rest of us. “Then we’re at a standstill.”
“Yup.”
“Guess he’s getting his comeuppance,” I said casually, nodding at Winson, tired of the pissing match.
“Oh, they’re all going to get that. Karma is the name,” Dynamo replied.
“How you handling this? These rich fuckers need to be outed. If you kill them, those harmed don’t get justice. Where are the women?” Jude stated. He put his grenade away, and we followed suit. Seemed I’d broken the standoff.
“Asleep, we didn’t want them to see Dynamo and Vogue playing with these assholes. Gonna make them feel everything their victims did. Slasher will heal them so that they scream about the torture, but there’s no physical evidence,” Warden declared. He was looking for a fight.
“Kinda makes the point moot,” Jude said.
“Not when Romeo locks this into their minds. Then he’ll ensure they confess all their fuckin’ crimes. These assholes are going down. Money won’t protect them,” Warden promised.
“Get me a list of their victims. I bet at least half aren’t in the country. You’ll need us to rescue them,” Jude announced.
“Only need my club,” Warden drawled.
“Nope. What we are is allies in this. I was hired to find a girl and bust a trafficking ring. You guys, as far as I’m concerned, are extra.
My client doesn’t have to know about you, nor does anyone else.
Now, this is going to go as you planned.
We’ll let you guys walk away, and we’ll call this in.
Stagger the confessions from these fucks; if they all confess at once, then it’s suspicious.
Make it come from a place of shame. Have Winson break first and make him a blathering mess.
Then these can say his guilt led them into acknowledging their own,” Jude stated.
“Yeah, but ensure they’re aware they’re doing this against their will.
Just like their victims were. And before they confess, have them sign everything they own over to their victims. Ensure it’s split equally between them; that way they can’t afford their fancy lawyers to wriggle them out of this,” I added.
Warden swapped glances with Dynamo, Undertaker, Blister, and Romeo. “We can do that. But first, we want every drop of information we can get. Gotta liberate their victims from whatever slave labour they’re under.”
“Totally agree. Can’t your guy get into their thoughts and memories? Once he’s done that, give them to your girl. I say she’s owed this,” Jude agreed.
“Truth,” someone intoned, and I turned and saw a former prospect, Soul. His eyes were locked onto Jude.
“Tell me you aren’t going to blackmail us to use our abilities,” Warden growled out.
“Nope. I’m curious, but I’ve no interest in using you,” Jude answered.
“Truth,” Soul stated.
“What’s with him?” I asked.
“Soul can sense lies.”
I frowned. Was that even a thing? “I’ve killed ten men.”
“Lie.” Soul grinned. “You’ve killed more.”
“I’ve never killed in hand-to-hand combat.”
“Lie.”
“I’m not attracted to a woman.”
Soul’s grin grew bigger. “Huge fuckin’ lie.”
“You’re an asshole,” I said.
“Truth.”
Warden nodded and offered a hand. “We’ll work together on this. See how shit pans out. But I don’t trust you.”
“Rightfully so. And make no mistake, I feel the same,” Jude shot back, shaking it.
“You wanna hang about and watch? Dynamo’s gonna get nasty if she only has a few hours to play.”
Jude glanced at me. “These women suffered this shit. We should bear witness.”
“Call the team in,” I agreed.
Jude nodded, although he watched the Royal Bastards warily.
Dynamo continued torturing Winson, and his screams made me wince. But I wouldn’t back down. Something told me that Dynamo was enacting what had been done to her. These fucks deserved everything they got.
It was turning dawn when the Royal Bastards rode out.
I put a call into the local cops and waited.
The night had been one of nightmares. Dynamo and Vogue took revenge on every single rich bastard there.
What was worse was that some of these were meant to be women’s advocates.
For hours these fuckers had screamed, and then Slasher healed them.
Romeo knelt and messed with their minds to do what Jude had suggested.
The cops would arrest them, but they’d wriggle out.
Romeo’s implanted suggestions would kick in at different times over the next few weeks.
Caleb had been sent a list of dates to monitor.
If one of them missed his time, Romeo and ACI would go for them.
Romeo declared it wouldn’t happen as their minds were easily managed.
He didn’t understand how we’d not fallen to his commands.
I suspected it was because of our training but wouldn’t admit that. Not even under duress. Things were left a little tense, with both sides aware of the repercussions of betraying each other.
I watched as Dynamo rode out, her hair streaming behind her in a ponytail and her confidence in handling her Harley.
I was attracted to her, but I was unsure how to handle her.
Dynamo had been to hell and back, and she’d no intention of trusting a man again.
She barely trusted her brothers. To my chagrin, she didn’t even glance at me.
A regal queen riding her steed, and I was beneath her notice.
I snorted at my fanciful thoughts and headed towards the warehouse. Shit around here was about to get busy.
Dynamo
It had been a shock when Romeo announced we had eyes on us. Even more so when he stated his mind swipe hadn’t worked.
Shame had flooded me; Mike knew what had happened to me, and he had witnessed the ugly consequences firsthand. What my club had only known about was becoming common knowledge, and it galled me. The Montreal Chapter, Jameson, Screaming Barons, Bloody Scorpions, and now ACI.
But Pipes was right. I couldn’t let them win. I was a Royal Bastard, and that meant something. So many applied to the club, and only a select few were accepted. I was special, and not because of what happened to me.
Warden had hunted me down and recruited me directly. That was special. He’d not only honoured me by bucking the trend and making me a sister but also by giving me a position in his inner circle. It was time to heal.
