Chapter Fifteen

Ghost

“I have information,” Knox says through the phone. “Are you on your way back?”

“Be there in two,” I say, hanging up the phone.

“What did he say?” Blaze asks as we pull through the gate to the clubhouse.

“Knox has info,” I say, getting out of the car before it’s completely stopped. “What is it?” I ask when I reach the office.

“Damn. When you said two, you really meant thirty seconds,” Knox says. “Anyway, I got the feed back from the rental company. The documents for the rental were bogus. They used a false name. But there is this.”

A video plays on the screen of a young male getting into the driver’s seat of a black van.

“That’s the kid,” I growl. “Have we heard anything from King?”

“Nathan’s uncle said that he never showed up,” Venom answers. “Now that Knox has the boy's cell number, he has King tracking him down.”

“It shouldn’t take him too long,” Knox says. “According to this, he’s at a restaurant.”

“I want him brought here to the clubhouse,” I order.

I pace the length of the clubhouse office, the walls closing in on me with every step. Snow’s been missing for hours now, and every second that ticks by feels like a lifetime. My mind races with possibilities, each one more horrifying than the last. I can’t lose her. Not now, not ever.

The door slams open, and King strides in, dragging Nathan behind him. Nathan’s face is smeared with blood, and it looks like my brother has had a little fun. King shoves him into a chair, and he slumps forward, groaning.

I turn to face them, my fists clenching at my sides. “What did you find out?”

King wipes his hands on a rag and glares at Nathan. “Tell him.”

Nathan winces, looking around the room at the rest of the men gathered there. He swallows hard and finally meets my gaze. “I was hired to rent the van and take the woman.”

Rage boils up inside me, and I take a step forward. “Why? Who hired you?”

Nathan’s eyes dart around the room, his fear palpable. “He’ll kill me if I tell you.”

“I’ll torture you if you don’t,” King shrugs.

I grab Nathan by the collar and yank him closer. “Who took my woman? Who was the fucker driving the van when you threw her in the back?”

He trembles, his voice barely above a whisper. “It was the man who let me fight in your club. Hunter Nisbet.”

The name hits me like a freight train. I stagger back, releasing Nathan as the world spins around me. Hunter, my best friend. The man who I’ve trusted for our entire lives.

“No,” I whisper, shaking my head. “You’re lying.”

Nathan shakes his head frantically. “I swear, I’m not. It was him. I didn’t know it was your woman that we took. I swear, I didn’t. I really needed the money, man. He paid me a grand to toss her in the van, then another hundred to send you that fax. I haven’t seen him since he dropped me off at the post office.”

The room falls silent, the weight of the revelation hanging heavy in the air. My chest tightens, and I struggle to breathe. Hunter, of all people. How could he do this?

King steps forward, placing a hand on my shoulder. “What do you want to do, brother?”

I take a deep breath, forcing myself to think clearly. “We find Hunter. We bring Snow home. And when we do, that fucker is going to pay for what he’s done.”

The men nod in agreement, their faces grim. I turn back to Nathan, my voice cold and steady. “You’re going to help us. And if you lie to us or try to lead us away from Hunter, my buddy here will make you wish you were dead.”

“But I’ll make sure you live through the games so that we can play again,” King smiles coldly.

Nathan nods quickly, his fear evident. “I don’t know anything else. I swear,” he cries. “Wait, last week he mentioned something about having to stop skimming money from the club. I don’t think it will help find your girl, but I promise that’s all I know. Just... please, don’t hurt me.”

The betrayal digs deep, latching onto old memories and turning them sour. He’s the one who's been stealing from me.

“I don’t know anything else,” he says.

I nod, my mind already racing with plans. We need to find Snow, and we need to find her fast. And when we do, Hunter will wish he’d never crossed me.

“Scare him a bit and let him go,” I tell King low enough that the kid can’t hear.

He smiles coldly and nods

As the men start talking and gathering information, I head outside for a moment, needing a breath of fresh air. The night is cool, but it does little to calm the storm inside me. Hunter betrayed me, and he has Snow. But I’ll get her back. No matter what it takes.
