Epilogue

Acouple months and some change…

Reece.

“I’m buying a thousand at a time. Your entire lot. You can do better than that,” Ro said with his arms locked over his chest, causing the gray tee that covered his upper body to stretch beautifully over his shoulders.

God, he’s so damn sexy.

My eyes traveled lower, taking in his dominant stance, legs shoulder width apart, on display in dark washed jeans and a new pair of boots that mirrored the ones I wore. It was cheesy but we matched. I had on a gray tank top and jeans.

“You’re killing me. How much lower you expect me to go without taking a loss?”

Ro smiled arrogantly before he yanked at his beard, the same beard that had tickled my thighs an hour ago because his head was between them.

Shit, that was sexy too. “I’m giving you a chance to sell your entire lot right now instead of going out there to haggle with the rest of those ranchers who would only want to pick and choose.

Your choice. But I can head on over there to see what he’s willing to offer me if you’re not here to do business. ”

The guy frowned then narrowed his eyes at Ro. It took him a minute to process what was being offered before he sighed. “Two eighty-nine. That’s the best I can do.”

Ro smirked and extended a hand. “You have a deal.”

They shook and Ro made arrangements to get the cattle shipped to his family’s ranch.

This was my second time traveling with him to purchase stock and today it was feeder calves and bulls.

The deal he worked out with his brother made it easy for him to stay connected and be part of his family’s business while I was able to stay connected to him.

The past couple months had been perfect. On Christmas Eve, after we watched the lighting of the tree, we headed back to the house, cleared out what was left of his things in the foreman’s cabin, and officially christened the house as ours.

For New Year’s we flew to Texas to visit his brother.

I was welcomed into his family. Keron was a character, and Lord knows he had no plans of settling down anytime soon or ever.

The week we were there he’d spent with two women who shared his bed temporarily.

They were cool but I knew I wouldn’t see them the next time we visited.

When Ro made it to me and stepped between my legs, I tipped his hat back, giving me access to his handsome face. “You know you cheated him, right?”

He smiled slowly, pushing his arms forward enough to circle my back. I was sitting on the wooden fence that caged in the lot of feeder calves he was purchasing. “I didn’t cheat him. I negotiated a deal that let him unload the entire lot.”

“Those feeders are high quality and worth more than you’re paying. A lot more.”

Ro shrugged. “His father should have trained him better and the kid shouldn’t have been so damn arrogant. That ego cost him.”

Bennett Rogers was filling in for his father.

He had a lot of snide things to say about Ro no longer competing.

The asshole tried to make it seem like Ro working with his brother was a downgrade ,when in fact, their family ranch was ten times more profitable than the Rogers’.

The little fucker just cost his father a lot of money by trying to act like he knew more than Ro.

“Yeah it did.” I grinned when he yanked me forward and I had to loop my legs around his waist as he held me against his body. After a kiss, he let me down and I noticed him tense from the motion.

“How’s your back?” I frowned, dipping behind him, massaging my fingers up and down his spine. The six-hour drive here yesterday plus the three rounds of sex last night and this morning and the drive back were going to do a number on him.

“I’m good, Reece.” He grabbed my arm and pulled me in front of him, dropping a kiss to my forehead.

“You’re not, but I’ll leave it alone because you’re stubborn as shit.”

“Says the most stubborn ass woman I know.” He smirked, yanking at my coils.

“You love it though.”

“Yeah I do, ’cause I love you and that means everything that you are.”

“Good because I love you too, cowboy, and I’m too damn stubborn to be out here by myself in love.”

He chuckled. “Yeah, I know.”

“I wish that you could have met my dad. He always said my standards were too high and I would never have this.” I had been thinking about him a lot lately. Mostly because I was happy and he wasn’t here to see it.

“Have what?” Ro asked with his brows pinched.

I smiled and kissed him. “A man that loves me and my stubborn ass.”

His expression got serious and I started to panic until he spoke. “I know him, or at least a part of him. According to him anyway.”

I frowned hard. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Melvina gave me a letter, from your pops…”

“A letter…when?” I barely got the words out.

Ro, lifted his hands, cuffed my face and kissed me. He pressed his forehead to mine for a brief moment and then dropped his eyes to mine. “At Jubilee.”

“At Jubilee…”

He nodded and my mind was racing. He had a letter from my dad.

How?

“Why, what did it say? He didn’t leave me one.” my chest was tight. “Wait, was he sick, did he know and not…”

“Reece, no, baby no. He wasn’t keeping anything from you. He was just preparing.”

“Well what did it say?”

Ro cuffed my face again before he brushed his lips over mine and he smiled. “He said that he loved you, and wanted me to promise to be good to you.”

“But how? How would he know.”

“He didn’t, but Melvina did. He asked her to give that letter to the man that was going to marry you.”

“She gave it to you.” I smiled still processing that my father wrote a letter to my future husband.

“Yeah she did. You okay with that?”

“I am.” I smiled. “But you don’t have to merry me because of a letter.”

He smirked. “I’m not. When I ask you and trust and believe that day is coming, it’s going to be because you’re home Reece. Everything comes back to you, now let me go finish this paperwork so that we can get out of here.’

“Okay.”

His forehead dropped to mine again. “You good.”

“I’m perfect.”

“Aight, give me a minute.”

He kissed my cheek and walked off. I enjoyed the view because it was mine. Everything about that man was mine, from the Jaxson on his head to the Jaxson boots on his feet. Eero McCall was all mine…
