Chapter 20 The Next Door Confession
I always felt people shouldn't, at least not.
Recalling the half year since moving over, Ji Mingxu's occasional food deliveries.
And things he tossed over saying he couldn't use.
And times he didn't dress properly.
He couldn't be seducing me, right?
But I felt I was overthinking.
So I packed and planned to film a small web drama.
Web dramas were pretty good.
Three a year was no problem.
I had become the real web drama queen.
My TV dramas made no big waves.
But they loved my web dramas.
It was strange.
This drama was even shorter.
Less than two months and it wrapped.
When I wrapped and returned, it was evening.
Just as I reached to open the door, the opposite door opened.
Ji Mingxu appeared.
"Late at night, you scared me."
I patted my chest.
Ji Mingxu sneered.
"I just wanted to see if your acting hands broke.
Can't even reply to messages."
That mouth was truly poisoned.
"Too busy.
Didn't check my phone."
"Treating me like a three-year-old?"
Ji Mingxu stepped forward two paces.
"No matter how busy, I didn't see you delay posting on Weibo."
Misstep.
I pondered.
The door had already fingerprint unlocked.
"I was thinking for you.
Our rumors have spread almost two years.
You're twenty-eight too.
Keeping distance is good."
Ji Mingxu said, "Why keep distance?"
"Online they say you have a crush on me.
If it continues, how will you find someone?"
Ji Mingxu took my suitcase.
He pushed the door and shoved inside.
As he passed, he hummed.
By the time I reacted, he was already in.
What did that hum mean?
I followed.
I stared at his back.
He casually tidied my messy sofa.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
Ji Mingxu turned.
He let out a light sigh.
"Jiang Dai, before I wondered if saying it too clearly would ruin even friendship."
"But your brain really lacks a screw.
Before you never realized others liked you.
I thought that was good.
Later I felt it wasn't so good."
"I like you.
The kind where I want to hug and kiss you."
He paused.
"Given our families' relationship, I'd even be willing to talk marriage right away."
I froze.
That one sentence hit me like a bomb.
"Ji Mingxu, we're so close.
What's the difference from incest?"
I spoke without thinking.
Ji Mingxu's face darkened.
"Stop the random analogy."
He stepped closer.
His gaze landed on my eyes.
"How about considering it?
Dating me."
"You're twenty-eight.
These years I haven't seen you like anyone else.
Why not try me?"
The distance was too close.
I swallowed nervously.
Ji Mingxu's face was impactful.
I didn't even know what I said.
"Try what?"
He kissed my cheek.
"Anything."
