LAILAH #2

Isabelle gaped at him in shock. Try as I might, I couldn’t hold back my smile at her reaction, so I grabbed my coffee, trying to hide it.

“How could you possibly know that?” she asked, floundering with her response.

Hudson stood and put both his hands on the table as he looked the only mother he’d ever known in the face.

“For this exact reason. There is absolutely no reason that Ben and Grace shouldn’t come with us to spend time with their father.

Do you not even see how hard both of your children try to please you?

Of course not, because you would need to be around for that to happen.

Ben could get into any school he wanted, even with the two Bs you seem to be lording over him.

Grace is graduating a whole year early! Most parents would be thrilled to have two such accomplished children.

” Hudson paused to take a breath, closing his eyes a moment before he continued.

“I made sure to read over the divorce agreement so you couldn’t use them as a tool to get back at Father.

We will be leaving now, with both of my siblings, and they will be back tomorrow. The rest of us will not.”

Unable to provide an argument for anything Hudson said, Isabelle turned on her heel and stormed out of the room.

“That’s it, I’m calling it. Bonding with Lailah definitely causes us to level up—because that shit was amazing, Hudson!” Parker announced, breaking the tension.

Grace was the next one to kick back her chair and run over to Hudson, throwing her arms around him. “I can’t believe you stood up to her, thank you!”

“It seems like we should get packing before the wicked witch of the west kicks us out,” Micah muttered as he got up from the table next to me.

Reaching down, he grabbed my hand, pulled me up, and tugged me after him as he headed upstairs. We walked into the room he was sharing with Brayden, and he directed me to sit on the bed he’d been using.

“Um, everything okay?” I asked, my brows raised.

Micah started to move about the room, gathering things. “Why does something need to be wrong? Maybe I just want to spend a little time alone with you.” He paused and looked at me. “You okay with that?”

Just when I think I’m starting to figure these guys out, they pull shit like this.

“Totally okay with that. I’m sorry I didn’t realize sooner that you were feeling this way,” I answered, feeling guilty I hadn’t realized it myself.

“None of that,” Micah ordered as he walked over and cupped my chin, forcing me to look up at him. “It’s just as much my responsibility to tell you I need some time with you. There is only one of you in this relationship of six. Hudson has needed you more the past few days, and we all know that.”

“When did you get so insightful?” I asked, grinning.

Micah shook his head at me and dipped down to give me a forceful, all-consuming kiss. Pulling back slightly, he winked at me. “Looks like you might need to hang around me more to notice.”

“Micah, are you flirting with me right now?” I teased.

His answer was to push me down onto the bed, using his body to pin me down but not smother me.

Sliding his hands in my hair, he held me where he wanted me as he proceeded to show me just how much he missed me.

Reaching up, I pulled out his hair tie, letting his thick, wavy locks free for me to return the favor.

“Pardon the interruption, I’m just going to start packing my things while you two are busy,” Brayden said from somewhere in the room.

Micah pulled back and shifted to the side so he could pull me into being the little spoon. “What, you don’t want to join in?”

Brayden looked over at the two of us, cocking an eyebrow and setting his hands on his hips. “Oh, I didn’t think we were at that level yet. Have you finally decided to take the Oath and Bond with her?”

I snorted as I tried to hold in my laughter but utterly failed once Micah started poking me in the side.

“Think that’s funny there, Cookie Monster? I’ll give you something to laugh about,” Micah grumbled as he proceeded to tickle me until I was gasping for breath.

“Bryaden, help me,” I cried.

“Sorry, Angel, you got yourself into that one,” Brayden sighed as he packed his things like nothing was going on.

“Do you surrender?” Micah demanded as he kept on with his attacks.

“I give up, you win,” I gasped.

Micah stopped but loomed over me, his nose touching mine. “Bet your ass I win. Now, go pack your shit. Can’t have you holding up the rest of us.”

I huffed indignantly at him. “Oh right, because that would be my fault how?”

“Don’t sass me, woman. Get going,” Micah ordered, giving my ass a slap, sending me towards the direction of the door.

“Oh, you did not just do that!” I gasped.

Micah smirked at me. “Sure did. Now move along or I’ll do it again.”

Frowning, I walked out into the hall, crashing into Jay. Quickly, his hands settled on my hips as I bounced off him, a soft smile on his lips. “Spanking is on the table now? That is going to make things much more fun.”

“I never agreed to that.”

Jay leaned down and nipped at my ear. “Oh, I have a feeling you will, Beautiful.”
