Chapter 15 #2
“Morning breath!” I suddenly blurted out, making his eyes go wide, before they softened into something tender. Then, a heartbeat after, they narrowed in on my lips before he growled,
“I don’t fucking care.”
The words brushed against my lips before he closed the distance completely. And whatever thought I might have had left disappeared the second his mouth found mine.
And this time…
There was nothing hesitant about it.
The world didn’t so much disappear as it narrowed, pulling tight around the point where his mouth met mine. Every other thought slipped quietly out of reach as the kiss deepened without hesitation.
There was nothing rushed or impulsive about it, only a slow, intent focus that made the kiss feel all the more consuming.
Like he had no intention of letting me escape it again now that he had me exactly where he wanted me.
His hand remained firm at my waist, anchoring me against him as though the idea of distance had never existed to begin with.
On the other hand, my head shifted just enough to tilt my head, angling me exactly how he wanted.
And the best part…
I didn’t resist.
Didn’t even try as morning breath became a thing of the past and never something to worry about ever again.
Which was why I leaned into it, my fingers curling lightly against him as that same warmth unfurled through me again. Like my body had already decided this was exactly where it belonged.
The kiss softened just slightly, not breaking, just easing enough for something quieter to slip into it. Something that made my breath catch against his mouth as the moment stretched. As if suspended in that delicate space between lingering and something more.
And then he pulled back. Not far, but just enough. My breath faltered slightly as his lips brushed once more against mine before trailing lower. The movement unhurried, like he was in no rush to get anywhere except exactly where he intended to be.
His head dipped toward my neck, and the second his breath touched my skin, I felt it. That immediate, instinctive reaction that sent a shiver down through me before I could stop it. My body responding before my mind had even caught up.
A quiet sound left him, low and almost thoughtful. As though he had just discovered something that pleased him far more than it should have.
“Mm…”
The vibration of it ghosted against my skin, followed by the slow brush of his lips just beneath my ear. And I felt my pulse jump in response, betraying me instantly.
“You smell like mine.” This time, the growl of his words sounded more like they had come from the demon in him.
But I wasn’t scared. If anything, they settled into me, possessive and entirely too certain.
The feeling sent an unexpected flutter through my chest that I couldn’t quite explain.
It should have unsettled me. It should have made me question it, question him, question everything about that statement.
And yet, it didn’t.
My breath caught as his lips lingered against my skin.
The warmth of them trailed lower in a way that made my thoughts scatter completely, leaving nothing but sensation in their wake.
It was slower now, unhurried in a way that felt intentional.
Like he was taking his time exploring every reaction he pulled from me.
Every subtle shift in my breathing, every small sound I failed to keep to myself.
And this time… I didn’t stay still.
My hands moved before I could think better of it, lifting from where they had rested hesitantly between us to settle against him instead.
My fingers brushing over the solid line of his shoulders before sliding down, tracing the curve of muscle beneath my touch.
As though I needed to feel it, to confirm that he was real, that this was happening.
His reaction was immediate.
A low-sounding growl left him, rougher this time, less controlled. It sent an unexpected shiver through me in response, my grip tightening just slightly where my hands had come to rest against him. Like I had suddenly realized just how much I liked that sound.
Which was… new.
But then, I guess now I knew it wasn’t anything threatening, it only spurred me on.
A thought that quickly left me when his mouth returned to mine and when the kiss deepened again with a quiet intensity.
One that made it impossible to focus on anything else.
Especially when his hand shifted at my waist, pulling me closer still until there was no space left between us at all.
The world narrowed again, tighter this time, more consuming. My fingers curled more firmly into him, my breath catching against him as the kiss shifted, deepened further, and threatened to unravel what little composure I had left.
And that’s when it came…
A sharp knock at the door.
The sound was abrupt, slicing cleanly through the moment in a way that made me freeze instantly. My hands stilled where they were against him as reality came crashing back in far too quickly.
For a fraction of a second, he didn’t move.
And then I felt it.
The shift.
It was subtle, but unmistakable. The warmth was still there, the closeness unchanged, and yet something else layered beneath it now. Something darker, more sinister.
Dangerous.
A low growl left him, one I could distinctly tell the difference in, as this one was far from happy. The echo of it vibrated faintly against me before he lifted his head just enough to speak, his voice no longer soft, no longer teasing.
“This better be important!” he snarled at the door.
The words hadn’t fully settled before a voice answered from the other side of the door.
“My lord,” Torrin’s voice came, controlled, though there was a faint urgency about it that hadn’t been there before.
“Unfortunately, it cannot wait.”
The tension in the room shifted again, but not away from me. But outwardly, like something in him had redirected that quiet, consuming focus, replacing it with something colder.
A slow breath left him, not quite a sigh, more controlled than that, but like he was reigning something in before it could surface further.
“Very well,” he replied, his tone clipped now, all warmth stripped from it.
“I will be there shortly.”
“Yes, my lord,” Torin replied respectfully before we heard his footsteps retreat back down the hallway.
“I would say no rest for the wicked, but it seems a bit tame for a demon overlord.” At this, he chuckled before he lowered himself over me and kissed my forehead.
“Oh, I am wicked, starting with all the deliciously wicked things I wish to do to you now, but…”
“…but duty calls, yeah, yeah, I get it,” I interrupted with a teasing roll of my eyes, making me playfully growl into my neck before nipping at the skin.
The sound of it sent a small shiver through me. My fingers tightened instinctively against him for a moment before he pulled back just enough to look down at me. That same quiet intensity still lingered in his gaze, though now tempered with something softer.
“I’ll have coffee sent up,” he said, and I blinked up at him, my brow lifting slightly.
“What, no breakfast? What kind of hotel is this?” I asked, the hint of a smile tugging at my lips as I tilted my head against the pillow.
I swear his grin was near blinding, he was so handsome.
Of course, this was also matched by the incredible body and display of muscles as he shifted off the bed.
And thanks to the glorious morning light, it showcased everyone for my uninterrupted viewing… mmm, thank you, Mr. Sunshine.
“Mm…” he mused, pausing long enough to snag my ankle and yank me down the bed, making me shriek out in shock. Although the air escaping my lungs was thanks to the way he lowered over me, caging me under him before he told me,
“The kind that punish unruly little mortals with smart mouths.”
“Oh yeah, and just how do you do that?” I pushed with a smirk, one he matched with his own when he lowered further and replied,
“By giving you something else to do with that mouth of yours.” My eyes widened slightly at that, and I had to give myself some credit for not immediately choking on my own swallow. But instead of letting him get the last word, I rose up to meet his lips and whispered,
“That doesn’t sound like punishment… but more like a reward, Lord Oblivion.
” This time, the growl that rumbled from him was one I felt vibrating against my breasts as he pressed me down to the bed and kissed me.
His hands instantly found my wrists before shackling them and raising them up to pin them above my head.
Then he sucked in my bottom lip and bit it, the slight sting, one he soothed as he lapped at the small drop of blood.
“Fuck me, you taste so fucking good… and make it near impossible to leave.” And with that admission, I swear if it were possible for my girly parts to high-five me, they would have.
But other than me slapping myself down there, which would look insanely weird, then we would have to be content with knowing I turned him on.
Something I could most definitely feel, thanks to the heavy erection that made me feel like shouting, ‘batter up!’
Thank the goddess I didn’t and thank her twice for restraint.
After this, he kissed my forehead before shifting off me, as we both knew what would happen if we started making out again.
He pushed himself off the bed, and I was left wondering if my eyes were bulging comically.
Because there he was, in all his naked glory, and like every line had been chiseled by some divine hand.
Especially with the delicate swirls and artistic script woven between the harsher lines of his mixed tattoos.
A sight that only offered more when he turned to walk towards the dressing room, as my eyes wandered freely down the expanse of his back. My gaze quickly landed on the nicest, firmest male ass I had ever seen, and this time a slight moan escaped my bitten lip.
“See something you like, Miss Shadowmere?” he asked, and this time I wasn’t even embarrassed to reply,
“That depends.”
“On?” he asked with a grin,
“On who gets to bite who, the next time we are naked.” His eyes flashed silver, but not only that, his tattoos did as well. Each of them shimmering darker under his skin like untamed power trying to escape.
“You play a very dangerous game, my Inanna, and lucky for you, it’s a game I always intend to win,” he rumbled in that deeper tone.
“And what makes you so sure you will win, huh?” I asked with fake confidence that he could definitely detect.
“Because my Siren…”
“…You are the prize.”
