Elves and Espresso (The Haunted Brew #1)
The Enchanted Maiden
There was once a man with three daughters.
When he was ready to tell the world that one was ready for marriage, he hung up a golden ball.
Of course, this gave everyone the impression that they were super rich, which ended up working out pretty well for them because a prince came by and asked for her hand in marriage.
The same thing happened to the second daughter. Pretty good luck.
When it was time for the youngest daughter to marry, the father couldn’t afford a golden ball.
Instead, he hung up a silver ball. Another prince passed (seriously, how many princes are in this area?), but he deemed the family too poor for his liking and rode on by.
Another man came to marry her, and the sisters refused to associate with her as a result. Because they were snobs, that’s why.
There’s a lot more to the story with the youngest giving birth, fairies arriving, riches given, and so on. Eventually the sisters became friends and that’s nice, although I still think they’re snobs because they’re only friends because of the riches.
Elves and Espresso is a story that covers the first two paragraphs, and then goes in a completely different direction. Why did I choose to go on for another three paragraphs? Because I thought the rest of the story so entirely ridiculous, that I really wanted you to read it as well.
