27. Romancing #2

With him poised at my entrance, I shoved down and took every inch, stopping shy of the swollen knot. He snarled and rammed into me, so hard that I thought my pelvis would break again. So hard that it stole my thoughts.

My gasp turned into a moan, making my channel clench down on him. I moved my hips in a circular motion.

“Take your pleasure,” he murmured, keeping still. Such a large man. Since we had been together, he had yet to fully unleash. His restraint was obvious and maddening.

His eyes were thin as he watched me, mouth parted the barest bit. I pressed down and glided back up. The wet, carnal sounds caused me to flutter around him.

“I have missed your taste.” He nestled his face into my neck. His groan vibrated against my flesh.

Such soft words. I wished they did not affect me.

“These urges are all that are between us,” I insisted, lifting to look at him. Fear turned my stomach.

“Lie to yourself, bondmate,” he whispered. There was no sign of levity in his expression.

“This ‘filthy’ redblood has no need to lie. I have my memories.”

He flinched, his face tightening.

I hovered over his length, overwhelmed by the throb inside me. When I did not believe he would speak, he cupped the side of my face. His fingers were in my hair, and his palm cupped my face.

‘I . . .’

Immediately I shook my head. “I do not want to hear your excuses.” I rolled my hips. A tremble traveled down my spine. “Fuck me, Cassiel,” I ordered, sinking my fingers into his shoulders until I dug into flesh. My channel fluttered around him. “Please,” I whimpered.

He reacted as if he had touched flames. His hands rested on my sides, fingertips squeezing into my skin.

“I will fill you until you are bursting with my seed.”

The threat ran a shiver down between my legs.

His claim was insistent and passionate. He drove me to bliss over and over again, sating every single desire that spawned.

I lay across Cassiel’s chest, spent and panting. His knot remained stuffed inside me, swollen since he came, filling me with his release. My soul had detached from my body in the moments within his arms. Everything about Cassiel drove me to distraction. And I loathed it. Desperately.

Yet, I wanted it with the same weight.

I rubbed my cheek against the hard plane of his torso. He rubbed his nose against the top of my head, inhaling. His hands had yet to leave my bottom. They massaged and squeezed the flesh. How he touched me weakened any resolve to get off him as soon as his knot loosened.

‘What do you muse over?’

“How insatiable I am,” I muttered.

His chest shook with a chuckle. ‘And you believe you do not weaken me?’

“I do not know what to believe about you, Cassiel.”

His focus sharpened. He rolled me onto my back so quickly that my vision swam. Cassiel hoisted himself over me, hovering with his face right over mine.

“You only need to know that I will protect you.” He dragged the back of a finger down the bridge of my nose. “And I will cherish you.”

He said he would cherish me. The man who told an entire chamber I was nothing. His lips pressed against mine. ‘And I cannot have enough.’

Now that I did believe.

The force with which he stared at me caused my breath to stutter. Cassiel rubbed his palms down my shoulders to my wrists.

“Are you chilled?”

I kept my mouth shut as he tucked me closer, forcing my leg over his waist. He pressed kisses along my temple.

“How you madden me,” he murmured against my ear.

With the words, he slid inside me, shallowly since he had not stiffened to his full length.

Bliss rippled through my senses. My channel clamped around his length.

He exhaled again, shuddering so hard I shook on him.

“I did not know I could care so deeply,” he whispered feverishly.

“Live four centuries and you will grow tired of it all. Everything turns tiresome at one point or another.”

“You are rather ancient,” I drawled, attempting to pull out of the emotional intensity. His slow, gliding thrusts hesitated. “This would never work.”

He lifted over me, stunned. “You are wrong,” he insisted. “You are meant to be mine. I hunger for you how no other ever would.”

“I am not too sure . . .” I bit back my smirk.

His expression sharpened. “Are you mocking me?” he growled.

“I would not dare,” I insisted, dismayed. Running my hands up his arms, I placed them on his shoulder. I raked my fingertips over the goose flesh rising along with my touch.

He grunted and continued driving deeper with short, tight thrusts. Ripples of aftershock tremors wracked my frame. I met the force of his kiss, moving my tongue as he had shown me.

We greeted ecstasy again. Together, and all-encompassing. A pleasure so intense, I struggled to make sense of it.

I lay within the comfort of his arms until his hips slowed pumping, until he stopped.

By this point, he had flared my desire once again, and he brought us to completion. I was perilously close to letting the comfort have me join him in sleep. It took effort to stay awake. Much more effort than I could muster.

I had always been of the mind that one must enjoy such things as these with your husband. Not that I would ever marry. I peeked up at Cassiel nestled against my side.

Slowly, I withdrew from his arms. He groaned, and his arm flew out as if to drag me close. I pushed a pillow at him, and he clasped it against him, hugging it tight. His features softened, and he lay back.
