The First Letter

Dear Anson,

I’m not entirely sure how this works, so I’m just going to jump in.

My name is Maggie. I saw your name on the pen pal program list and thought I’d write. I’ve never done this before, so forgive me if I’m doing it wrong.

I’m not great at talking about myself, but I’m good with my hands - fixing things, building things, that sort of work. I like old houses, good coffee, and terrible weather. I read a lot. Mostly non-fiction, though I’m trying to get through Thoreau and honestly finding it a bit much.

I don’t know what you’re supposed to say in a first letter like this. I guess I’m just reaching out to say hello. If you feel like writing back, I’d like that. If not, that’s okay too.
