Chapter 35

WREN

TWO MONTHS LATER

The Christmas tree twinkled with colorful lights, casting a warm glow throughout the living room.

Wrapped presents sat beneath the tree, waiting to be opened.

The smell of pine and cinnamon wafted through the air while soft music played in the background.

I leaned into Seth’s chest, feeling his warmth against me.

I closed my eyes, savoring the moment; it was our first Christmas together.

I missed Parker and knew Seth missed his mother, but I never thought I could be this happy.

Seth kissed the top of my head, and I felt his lips move into a smile. “When do you want to open your presents?”

There were over a dozen under the tree, and I had no clue where to begin.

“I feel bad. I just got you one present,” I said, laughing.

What kind of gifts did you get a man who had the money to buy anything and everything?

After our trip to Canada, I knew we wanted to travel some more, so I bought us a trip to the Icehotel in Sweden.

I thought it’d be fun to pick a place I knew would be the last on his mind.

Plus, it would be an adventure to stay in a hotel made of ice.

I was about to grab his present and get him to open it, but he reached under the tree and pulled out one wrapped in red and silver paper.

“Here,” he said, “open it.”

I took the present from him and carefully tore the wrapping paper apart. Inside was a small black velvet box. I opened the box, revealing a beautiful diamond ring sparkling in the soft glow of the Christmas lights. I gasped in disbelief, feeling my heart race with excitement and joy.

“Oh my God, Seth. Is this what I think it is?” I asked, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside of me.

They were all good feelings, but it felt like I would burst with them. Seth chuckled and helped me up but then went down to his knee. He took my hand, looking into my eyes with a soft, loving gaze.

“I know we haven’t been together long, but I love you more each day.

I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy, and I can’t imagine doing that without you by my side.

” He took the ring from the box and slid it onto my finger.

“I want you to be my wife, Wren. I don’t care if it’s next week or years from now when we get married.

All I want is to hear you say yes, that you’ll let me love you for the rest of your life.

Because I’ll tell you this . . . there’s no greater honor than that. ”

Tears welled up in my eyes as Seth’s words sunk in. I knew he was the one for me, and I couldn’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him. I had never felt so much love for anyone as I did for him at that moment.

“Yes,” I whispered, “yes, I will be your wife.”

Seth’s face lit up, and he took me in his arms, kissing me deeply. The passion and love between us was intense and undeniable.

Being in Seth’s world was going to take some getting used to, but with us together, I knew there was nothing we couldn’t do.
