Chapter 14

FOURTEEN

SAVANNA

What. The. Hell. Was. I. Thinking?

Stay and have a glass of wine with me after I put Drew to bed?

I haven’t dated in a while, but I’m pretty sure this is a Dating 101 no-no, especially with Dalton, given our history. Yet knowing this doesn’t stop me from putting Drew to bed faster, so I can go and find out what this “glass of wine with me” entails.

I rush downstairs and find Dalton sitting on a stool at the kitchen island, a bottle of red already uncorked and a glass in his hand.

“Wow, you’re not wasting any time, are you?” I tease.

Grabbing a wine glass from the white shaker cabinet, I walk over to where Dalton is sitting on his bar stool, reaching for the bottle of wine and filling my glass. Over the rim of my wineglass, our eyes stay locked in a quiet standoff as I take my first sip.

Who will break first?

Dalton’s eyes land on my lips, breaking our gaze before he stands. “Is Drew asleep?” he asks, rounding the island and stalking toward me.

I nod, breath hitching when I feel his cool palms land on my heated cheeks. I say nothing as he walks me backward until my back presses into the tile counter.

“Thank God,” he rushes out, his voice edging on relief.

I can feel the rapid rise and fall of his chest against me as his eyes turn molten.

“I’m going to kiss you now, Savanna. I’m going to kiss you so fucking hard. Like I’ve dreamed of doing every single night since that bonfire.”

My breath hitches as his thumb strokes my lips. “I’ve waited six damn years to have you again,” he rasps, his eyes locking with mine.

Me too.

I hold my breath as his eyes search me, waiting as we soon cross the line. A line I’ve drawn in the sand to protect my heart.

To protect Drew.

My chest heaves, labored breaths escaping me as my pulse quickens. I lick my lips, my eyes darting to his mouth. “So have me…” I pant.

A pained grunt falls from Dalton’s mouth. “You want me to have you, Savanna?”

Biting my bottom lip, I nod.

Because in this moment? Caged between Dalton’s body and the counter, where I can feel his arousal pressing against me, I want to be his.

Even if it’s just for tonight.

Dalton’s eyes glaze over before turning feverish. Pushing me back into the counter, his lips crash into me—causing a moan to escape my mouth. Arching into him, I grip his shirt, fingers curling into his chest as I root him in place.

He breaks away from my lips, ragged breaths escaping him as he stares at me with intensity. “Fuck, Savanna. You have no idea how long I’ve waited to kiss you again…to taste these lips,” he mumbles, before crashing his mouth back to mine—claiming it as his own.

A whimper escapes me as my tongue swirls with his. Lacing my arms around his neck, I grind myself into him, searching for friction. His hips buck into me, rough fingertips digging into the flesh of my hip bone.

“Jesus, Savanna,” he says, breathless.

I squeal between our lips when he grabs me, lifting me as if I weigh nothing and dropping me onto the countertop, never once breaking our kiss. My legs wrap around his waist as I draw him closer, hands gliding around the back of his neck, fingertips grazing his crew cut.

My lips travel to his neck, causing Dalton to tip his head to the side to grant me access.

I slide my tongue up his neck, nibbling, before I sink my teeth into his neck and leave my mark.

“Oh fuck,” Dalton whimpers. “You're driving me crazy, baby.”

I smile against his skin, heart fluttering in my chest at the sudden nickname.

Baby.

Dalton grunts before his rough hand lands on my chest, pressing me back against the counter. My elbows hold me up as my chest rapidly rises and falls as I take him in, standing between my legs.

“I’ve tasted your mouth, but what I’m really craving is this…” He slides a finger between my thighs.

My eyes widen, a whimper falling from my mouth. “Dalton,” I pant, mind racing.

His eyes don’t leave mine as his fingertip delicately traces the outline of my shorts.

I moan, head falling back at his touch.

“Look at you, baby,” he gushes. “Such a fucking tease in this shirt, leaving me to wonder what the hell you have underneath.” Sliding my shorts down, he tosses them on the kitchen floor. “I haven’t stopped thinking about you once, Savanna.”

My lips part, heart racing as I let Dalton’s confession sink into me.

Hooking his finger through my white silk thong, he slides it off slowly, knuckles brushing against my bare thighs.

The erotic feeling of delicate silk dragging against my skin causes wetness to pool between my legs.

Dalton’s eyes stay locked on me as he watches me pant, listening to the whimpers falling from my mouth.

Breaking my gaze, he kneels before me, pushing my shirt up to run his tongue along me. “Fuck. So wet for me, baby,” he hisses.

“Yes,” I breathe, begging for more.

This feels too good.

“Now that we’ve established, I’ve been thinking about you…” His tongue swirls around me. “I’m now wondering if you’ve been thinking about me,” he asks between long pulls with his tongue.

My eyes glaze over, unable to speak as I watch him kneeling on the ground for me.

“Tell me, baby,” he demands, sliding a finger inside me, pulsing it back and forth.

I gasp as a moan falls from my lips when he takes my clit into his mouth and sucks. With my breath labored, I look down at him. “Yes...I’ve been thinking about you,” I stammer.

Dalton hums in approval, his tongue still working me. “When was the last time you pleasured yourself to me, Savanna?” he asks, his eyes flickering up to mine. His licks become faster, causing me to pant and squirm above him.

“Today…in the shower,” I whimper, my hands spread flat on the counter for support.

Dalton pulls back his mouth from me, wiping his face with the back of his hand, like he just ate a delicious meal. Sitting on the heels of his Converse, his eyes turn wild. “Are you fucking kidding me, Savanna?”

I shake my head no, biting my cheek as heat fans my face, embarrassed that I admitted that out loud.

Dalton grunts. “You're going to fucking kill me, aren’t you?” he says, dragging a hand down his face. “This pussy is mine.”

Gripping my hips, he pulls me back into his warm mouth, licking and sucking me frantically. My breaths become ragged as my body shakes on the counter, feeling my climax build.

My fingers find his hair—gripping the longer length on top as I push into him, unable to take it any longer. "Oh god, Dalton, don’t stop…I’m going to come,” I plead.

Dalton hums a sound of encouragement, his voice vibrating through me.

My legs shake, thighs squeezing his face, as I dig my nails into his scalp—falling apart for him. “Dalton…” I cry out, my chest heaving as my entire body tenses.

Slowing his pace, Dalton laps me up, trailing gentle kisses between my thighs. My body softens, melting into the tile counter beneath me. Sitting back on his heels, Dalton takes one more look at the mess he just made of me before coming up to my mouth.

“Good girl,” he praises, pressing his lips to mine, making me taste myself on him. “You’re so fucking pretty when you come, Savanna. Exactly how I remembered it.”

I blush because this dirty version of Dalton is so much different from the teenage version.

Sitting up, my hands land on his chest, pushing his back. “It’s my turn to taste you now.”

Sliding off the counter, I drop to my knees. Dalton growls, his eyes hungry when he watches my hand stroke him through his shorts. A pained noise escapes between his lips as my fingertips dip below his waistband, grazing the trail of hair just below his navel.

“Jesus, Savanna,” he mutters, eyes glazing over.

As my fingers begin unbuckling his belt, Dalton’s phone rings from inside the pocket of his cargo shorts. He whimpers, pained, contemplating whether he should answer it. He huffs, pulling it out of his pocket, revealing Hudson’s name flashing across the screen.

Mood Killer.

“Fuck,” Dalton hisses, running a hand through his hair.

“It’s okay. Answer it.”

Dalton curses under his breath, accepts the call, and puts it on speaker. “What?” he growls, eyes still locked on mine.

“Well, hello to you, too, fucker.”

Dalton sighs, dragging a hand down his face. “What’s up?”

“We won the game!” Hudson sings. “It's about damn time this team won something. Come celebrate with me. Meet me at Salty’s for a drink. Wait, you're not busy, are you?”

Dalton glances down at my face, where I still kneel before him on the floor. My fingers are frozen on his belt buckle. With wide eyes, he shakes his head at me, clearly not wanting to get a drink with Hudson.

“It’s okay,” I mouth, giving him a nod of approval. “Go.”

Dalton’s eyes bulge, his hand covering his phone. “No, fucking way,” he whispers.

“Dalton, it’s my brother. You have to go.”

Dalton pinches the bridge of his nose, shaking his head. “Hello? Dalton? Are you there? What the fuck are you doing?” Hudson shouts out of the speaker.

His eyes find mine again, and I give him a nod.

Dalton shakes his head, uncovering the phone with his hand. He takes a breath, his shoulders tense. “Yeah, sure. Okay,” he stammers. “I’ll…uh…meet you there in ten.”

“Yeah, buddy,” Hudson says before hanging up.

Dalton stuffs the phone back into his pocket, lifts me off the floor into his arms, and brushes a strand of hair behind my ear as he kisses me. “I shouldn’t have answered that.”

I chuckle, my eyes landing on his. “Why? Thinking you were going to get lucky or something?”

A playful smile spreads across his lips as he tugs me closer and buries his face into my neck. “Oh, Savanna,” he rasps. “I already did.”
