Chapter 1 Twenty Thousand Budget
Lately I had gotten hooked on buying gold.
Big pieces and small ones, I had spent hundreds of thousands.
So I got to know quite a few Sales Associates, and I got along decently with a few of them.
Chen Lu Lu was one of them.
Today my boyfriend Zhou Xu Cheng's four-hundred-thousand bonus hit his account. We were about to get engaged, so he said he would take me to pick out some gold.
I messaged Chen Lu Lu on WeChat and said we would come by the store that evening to look at styles.
Chen Lu Lu replied fast.
"Dear, buying gifts for overseas clients again?"
The reason Chen Lu Lu thought that was because I had been buying gold from her so often lately. She had been fishing for my family background on and off. I stuck to the rule of not flashing money, so I told her I was buying for the company to gift overseas clients.
This time I was bringing Zhou Xu Cheng to buy engagement gold, so I told her straight.
"No. I'm getting engaged soon. My boyfriend is taking me to buy gold jewelry."
Chen Lu Lu typed and deleted for a long time, like she was weighing her words.
"Okay, dear! But you buy gold for the company a lot, so you know our store runs high-end. Still, I'll do my best to help you and your boyfriend pick some cost-effective pieces~"
Her tone made me uncomfortable. I was about to reply when she sent another message.
"What's your budget?"
Me: "Around two hundred thousand."
Chen Lu Lu immediately sent a yellow smiling bean sticker, then shot back: "Lady, are you serious?"
By then I was already pissed. I started looking up other salespeople for this brand on Xiao Hong Shu.
Chen Lu Lu kept right on lecturing.
"Actually, you can just be honest with me. We've known each other this long. I already treat you like a friend."
"You're just company admin, salary around three thousand. Your boyfriend is at most a regular employee. You really don't need to put on a show."

Friend? I had given her way too much face.
I let out a cold laugh, couldn't be bothered to waste another word on her, and deleted and blocked her in one go.
I figured I would never cross paths with Chen Lu Lu again. I didn't expect the new Sales Associate I found was still at the same store.
After my boyfriend got off work and picked me up, we headed over as planned.
