Chapter 6
CHAPTER SIX
STONE
I take a deep breath, then slowly blow it out. I can feel the heat of their gazes watching me. Normally, having a beautiful woman staring at me so intently would make me hot as hell. But not now, knowing what could be in this shoebox.
“Do you want me to open it? You can show me a picture of her and I can tell you if she’s in there.” Her soft, sweet voice hits my ears at the same time she places her hand on my arm. Making another crackle of electricity shoot through me.
All I want to do is pull her into my arms and release all the emotions I’ve been holding inside. I’ve needed to be strong in order to discover what happened to Brenda, and now I may finally know.
“As much as I appreciate the offer, I need to do this myself.” She nods in understanding and Levi steps closer to her side, slipping his arm around her waist.
“Do we want to do this here or take it inside with us, just in case the bastard wakes up?” he asks.
“Let’s go back inside so we can see his face when we open it and use him as a punching bag to get rid of our anger productively.” Damn, the little goddess’ love of violence has me hard. Nodding, I take a moment to reach down and adjust my cock when she turns away and heads toward the barn door.
I pick up the box, cradling it to my chest like it carries precious cargo. It does, it holds the fate of those lost to these sick bastards. I swear to make everyone who was involved with their demise pay with their lives.
As I near the door, I take one last look over at the freezer and make a vow to the lifeless bodies inside that they’ll be home soon. Their families will know what happened to them.
Stepping out into the dark night, I head straight for the house. Levi and Sasha are already on the porch, opening the back door.
“We’re back,” she calls out in a sing-song voice that has me cracking a smile. This woman is a spitfire, and I want her. Except she’s taken already. She’s the million-dollar painting that’s for viewing only in the museum. A definite look, but don’t touch. But fuck me, I want to touch and so much more. My mind is full of all the dirty deeds I want to do to her.
Once I join them inside the house, I see she’s back at her spot, knife to Jimmy’s neck, whispering something into his ear. Whatever it is has him bucking the best he can against the arm and leg restraints.
“Fuck you, beta cunt. You’ll get yours, don’t you worry. There’s more than Joey and me who want to rid the world of pathetic omega bitches. Some in high places that you can’t even touch,” he barks at her.
“Shut the hell up, asshat,” Levi barks as he squats to the floor, picking up a dirty sock and cramming it into Jimmy’s mouth. “There. That’s better. I’m tired of hearin’ the dick’s voice.”
Little does he know I’m fully aware of how deep the corruption runs. I’ve witnessed it firsthand and with the tip from my little text spy, the head of the Foundation is next on my list.
“Here we go.” I don’t know if I’m saying it for them, me, or all of us. I just felt like I needed to say something.
With a deep breath, I open the box and dump the pictures on the table, overwhelmed by the amount of Polaroid pictures inside.
“Fuck me,” slips from Sasha’s mouth as Levi places his arm around her shoulder.
One at a time, I pick up the Polaroid pictures, noticing there’s something written at the bottom of each of them. First name only and a date. There are pictures of males and females. It’s a never-ending cycle, it seems. Picture after picture, but none of them are Brenda.
That is until I pick up the next one. I’m about halfway through the box when I pull out hers. She’s dead; you can tell by her vacant eyes. She’s naked and I hate seeing her in this state. He has her legs spread wide, as if he’s putting every inch of her on display. Scars, open wounds, and blood cover her body.
The picture drops from my hand and I step back. I can’t breathe. Bending over, I place my hands on my knees as I try to regain my composure. She’s gone. It’s actually true. My sweet, beautiful, kind-hearted sister is no more. Her life was brutally taken at the hands of these monsters.
I want to kill him.
In an instant, I take the knife from the table and slash it along the length of his neck. Blood gushes from the wound, but I’m still not happy. He needs to suffer, just like she did. Like every person in that box did.
Neither Levi nor Sasha try to stop me. I guess they know I need this. To be the one to end him. I stab him over and over until I’m exhausted.
Looking up, I see they’re staring at me, but there’s no judgment in their eyes, only understanding.
“He was my kill, Stone. But after what happened to your sister, you deserved to do it more.” Sasha’s lips turn up in a smile.
I drop the knife to the floor and step over to the table. My blood-soaked hands pick up the Polaroid of Brenda, and my heart breaks all over again.
A cloth hits me in the face, startling me out of my pity party. “Where did you get that?” I ask Levi.
“Can’t give away my secrets. Let’s get out of here and set fire to the place. Once we’re gone, we can call the authorities and give an anonymous tip about the bodies in the freezer.”
“Just let me finish looking through these.”
“Okay,” he tells me.
One by one, I place the remaining pictures from the shoebox on the table. All in all, there are over forty pictures within it. My stomach is churning. The sick fuck posed all of them and I begin to wonder if he had sex with all their corpses or just with Brenda’s.
“What’s that?” Sasha points to the manilla envelope at the very bottom.
Picking it up, I open it, only to find another envelope inside, along with a letter.
Jimmy,
I’m leaving this with you. It’s my leverage in the unlikely chance that any of my dealings go south. Tom with the Omega Foundation has been a naughty boy, and I have photographic proof. If anything should happen to me make sure to publish it. If I go down, he goes down with me.
Joey
“The guys mentioned thinking he was shady. Let’s see what else is in there, and why didn’t he do what Joey said?” Sasha questions and my mind plays her words over and over.
“What guys?” I ask. I know Levi rides with a MC, but I didn’t think the rest of them were here.
“My brother and his packmates. Their omega, Nadia, was sold to another pack by her stepmother and Joey. We had to go through hell to get her back. She’s safe now, but she’ll bear the scars forever. They plan to bring down the Foundation. While they are going about it the legal way, I think my girl here wants to go about it in a different manner.”
Can I trust them? We seem to want the same thing. The end of the Foundation and all the bastards that are part of their illegal activities.
“Before we open the envelope, I need to tell the two of you something. I have a feeling I can trust you. I used to be part of the police force and when I saw the corruption within, especially after my sister disappeared, I couldn’t handle it anymore. I’ve been on a mission to eradicate it all.” I take a breath.
“We’re well aware of it. A police officer was also involved with the sale of my best friend, Nadia,” she tells me, leaning closer into Levi’s embrace. I can’t help but feel jealous. My body longs to have her lean on me for support. My chest aches with a purr that’s desperate to break free and soothe her.
“Yeah. It was an eye-opener. I left the force but still have some people there who I can trust and give me information. About six months ago, I started getting texts from an unknown number with leads. I don’t know who it is or how they find out what they do, but they’re spot on. Tonight, they sent me a message about the president of the Foundation. While we were in the shed, I found his card with a number on it. Now, we have this envelope. It’s just too coincidental for me.”
They both turn their heads and lock eyes before looking over at me. “What did the text say?”
“Just that Tom had an omega he abused who was then sold to the Carlisle Pack.”
“Shit!” Levi exclaims and I already know this isn’t good news.
“Who are they?” Sasha and I ask in unison.
“Pack Messenger was bad. But Pack Carlisle is the devil incarnate. They love pain and get off on delivering it. We need to save that omega,” Levi tells us, his face pale as he clenches his jaw.
I pick up the envelope and open it. Inside are pictures. Pulling them out, I see a brown-haired male with a bad comb-over and a too-white smile sitting in a chair with a male kneeling down before him, head in his crotch. All I can tell from the back is that he’s blond. A deep-seated need grows inside of me, and a mixture of fear, lust, and anger overtakes me.
I shuffle the pictures so I can see the next one. My heart beats so fast and my cock throbs, I can feel the wetness as pre-cum leaks from the tip. A hand comes down on my shoulder and I don’t even realize that Levi has stepped over to me, no doubt seeing the change in my demeanor.
His breath hitches as he catches sight of the picture. I never thought I’d have this happen, and fuck, not in this way.
“Fuck me,” escapes Levi’s lips. “My omega.”
My eyes dart to him, hearing his words. No, he’s my omega. My Kismet Bond.
“He’s your bond too?” I ask.
