Chapter 20
Graham
The early morning sun cast a warm glow through the kitchen windows as I arrived at the house. Sensei and Drake were already up, sipping coffee at the kitchen island. Their hushed conversation ceased as I entered, both offering me nods of greeting.
"Coffee?" Sensei asked, already reaching for a mug.
I accepted gratefully, the rich aroma helping to clear the fog of a restless night. As I took my first sip, Brody emerged from Scarlett's room, looking slightly disheveled but alert.
"Morning," he mumbled, making a beeline for the coffee pot.
We exchanged glances, a silent acknowledgment of the night's events passing between us. There was no jealousy, only a shared concern for Scarlett's well-being.
"Flight's at 10," I said, breaking the silence. "We should leave in about an hour to allow for security checks."
Sensei nodded. "I'll drive you to the airport. It's safer than leaving a car there."
We fell into a discussion about the logistics of the trip, the air wrought with strain. This wasn't just a funeral; it was a potential risk, exposing Scarlett to unknown dangers. But we all knew how important it was for her to say goodbye to Maddy.
As we talked, I couldn't help but marvel at how seamlessly we worked together now. Each of us had our role, our strengths, all focused on supporting and protecting Scarlett. It was a far cry from the competitive tension that had initially existed between us.
The sound of a door opening drew our attention. Scarlett emerged, her eyes red-rimmed but determined. She offered us a small smile as she entered the kitchen, and I felt my heart clench at the mix of vulnerability and strength she exuded.
"Morning," she said softly, accepting the mug of coffee Drake handed her.
We all murmured our good mornings, watching her carefully. She seemed steady, resolved, but I could see the underlying fear in the set of her shoulders.
"Are you ready for this?" I asked gently.
She took a deep breath, nodding. "As ready as I'll ever be. I need to do this... for Maddy."
The next hour was a flurry of activity as we prepared to leave. Bags were checked and double-checked, last-minute items packed. Through it all, we moved around each other with practiced ease, like this was something we did often, always aware of Scarlett's needs.
As we prepared to head out, Sensei pulled Scarlett into a tight hug. "Everything will be alright," he whispered, his voice carrying a conviction that seemed to steady her.
"Thank you," she murmured, clinging to him for a moment before stepping back.
The ride to the airport was silent, each of us lost in our own thoughts as we watched the city pass by. Scarlett sat between Brody and Drake in the back seat, their presence a physical barrier between her and the world. I sat up front with Sensei, my eyes constantly scanning our surroundings for any sign of threat.
At the airport, we moved through security with minimal fuss, our prearranged clearances smoothing the way. As we settled into the first class waiting area, I couldn't shake the feeling of exposure. Every passerby, every announcement over the PA system, set my nerves on edge.
After we boarded the plane and settled in our seats, the flight attendants asked if we needed anything then moved on to the other passengers.
"I need to use the restroom," Scarlett said suddenly, her voice low.
I nodded, immediately standing. "I'll escort you. We can't be too careful."
She didn't protest, which spoke volumes about her own unease. As we walked to the restrooms, I kept a protective hand on the small of her back, my eyes constantly scanning our surroundings.
At the restroom door, Scarlett hesitated, her hand on the handle. "Graham, I..."
She struggled with the door, and without thinking, I stepped inside with her to help. As soon as the door closed behind us, she turned, wrapping her arms around me tightly. I could feel her trembling, the emotions she'd been holding back finally breaking through.
Acting on instinct, I scooped her up, setting her on the small counter. Our eyes met, and in that moment, all the tension, fear, and pent-up emotion crystallized into a desperate need for connection.
Our lips crashed together, hands grasping at clothes, seeking skin. It was frantic, passionate, a physical manifestation of all we couldn't say. I knew we shouldn't, not here, not now, but I couldn't stop. Judging by the way Scarlett clung to me, neither could she.
One thing led to another, and before I knew it, we were making love right there in the airplane bathroom. It was far from ideal – cramped, hurried, with the constant fear of discovery – but it was also incredibly intense. Every touch, every kiss, felt heightened by the circumstances.
As we came down from our shared high, reality began to seep back in. We quickly straightened our clothes, sharing sheepish but satisfied smiles.
"We should get back," I murmured, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.
She nodded, taking a deep breath. "Thank you," she whispered. "I needed that... needed you."
We made our way back to the others, and if they noticed anything amiss, they didn't comment. The rest of the flight passed uneventfully, though I couldn't help but replay our encounter in my mind.
At the hotel, as we settled into our rooms, I felt a need to address what had happened. I knocked softly on Scarlett's door, entering when she called out.
"Scarlett, about what happened on the plane..." I began, suddenly feeling uncertain. "I'm sorry if I took advantage. You're going through so much, and I should have given you more time, more space."
She crossed the room to me, placing her hand on my cheek. "Graham, stop. You have nothing to apologize for. It was what I wanted... what I needed. You didn't take advantage of anything."
I leaned into her touch, relief washing over me. "I just want you to know that I'm here for you, whatever you need. We all are."
A small smile played on her lips. "I know. And I'm so grateful for all of you." She paused, seeming to come to a decision. "Can you ask Drake and Brody to come in? I think we need to talk."
Curious but willing, I nodded, stepping out to fetch the others. When we were all gathered in her room, Scarlett took a deep breath, her gaze moving between us.
"I love you," she said simply. "All of you. In different ways, but equally. And I know this situation isn't conventional, but I think... I think it works for us. If you're all still willing, I want to make this official. Our relationship, all of us together."

There was a moment of silence as her words sank in. Then, almost in unison, we moved to her, enveloping her in a group embrace.
"We're in," Brody said gruffly, speaking for all of us. "All the way."
As we broke apart, Scarlett's eyes were shining with unshed tears, but she was smiling. "Thank you," she whispered. "For understanding, for accepting this... for loving me."
She moved towards the large Jacuzzi tub in the corner of the room, glancing back at us with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Now, how about we celebrate this new arrangement?"
As she winked at us, inviting us to join her, I felt a surge of love and desire. This wasn't how I had ever imagined my life turning out, but looking at Scarlett and my two companions, I knew I wouldn't have it any other way.
