Epilogue

ANNA

The stars burned in the night sky in the same way as the ones I’d spent my life gazing into.

There were shapes and patterns of constellations I barely recognized from texts.

Except for one.

The brightest star in the heavens. It was the point of the unicorn constellation, a mythical creature said to have the ability to guide lost souls through the darkness. I wondered if Blake was here in the Realm or if he was still beyond the rift.

Could he see it?

Would it be enough light to guide us back to each other?

My heart ached as I closed my eyes to the wind. I gripped the hilt of my sword, channeling my pain, desire, and hope into my blade. The soft hush of the rain took my senses before the gentle touch of the droplets struck my skin.

I held my blade out to my side, my arm tightly flexed and perpendicular to my body. The cliff at the peak of the rocky terrain provided me with the solitude I needed. Dark storm clouds bloomed in the sky and I took a deep breath.

Focusing my everi into my blade, I let it burn through my veins, the rage and passion pouring into the steel like ink to the page. The night around me lit as flames of fury burst into life from the sharp edge of the blade.

Fire could be used for light or it could be used to burn everything to ash.

Right now, I wanted everything to burn.

Especially Ezreal Kalmont.
