13. Ezra #2
She gripped my shoulder with her free arm as I continued to drink, feeling the energy flow into my body as the fog dissipated from my mind.
“Holy shit,” Rina cried out as she ground down on me. I was hard as steel, my cock weeping as I continued to drink from her.
Every pull of her blood was punctuated with another rocking of her hips, and soon I was tightening my free hand around her waist, holding her onto me as my hips thrusted up.
“So close,” she moaned, body moving faster against me. “Right there. Don’t stop.” Her eyes flickered shut, breathy sounds slipping free from every brush of her core over my erection. Then, she let out a gasp of pleasure, body shuddering as she came.
I groaned as I followed behind her, unable to hold back. It felt too good, too right, having her on my lap, her blood in my veins.
“Fuck,” I grunted as I pulled away, looking down at my pants—damp with my seed, because I’d just cum in my pants like a fucking teenager. Never mind that I was one-hundred and ten years old.
Her eyes were glazed over. “Yeah.”
I ran my tongue over the bite mark on her arm, watching as it healed. “Apparently all I needed to do to get you soft and pliant was give you an orgasm, huh?” I chuckled, meaning it to ease some of the tension between us—in this fragile state where neither of us knew what to say to each other.
“Shut up,” Rina muttered, still breathing roughly.
But I noticed she hadn’t moved off my lap, either.
Did she actually want to be here, in my arms? I doubted it, but I was going to pretend like she did for the next thirty minutes. Or however long it took her to extract herself from my lap.
At some point, we’d have to get back on the road.
My home was the last place I wanted to take her, the last place she would be safe, but it seemed like I didn’t have any other options. The longer we stayed bonded, the more I’d have to drink from her—the more situations like this that we might find ourselves in.
Gods, no matter how good it felt, I wasn’t sure I could handle drinking her blood if it kept turning into this. It was getting harder to ignore how much I wanted her. How gorgeous I found her—even when she drove me crazy.
“I’m sorry,” I said, brushing a piece of hair off her forehead. “I didn’t want to put you in that position again.”
Rina exhaled, her breath unsteady. “Is it normally like that? Drinking from someone?”
“You mean is it normally so arousing?” My mouth twitched, trying to hold back a smirk.
The witch on my lap nodded. “No,” I answered.
“It can be sexual, but often, it’s just a means to an end.
This, between us…” I’d never experienced it before, the maddening need to bury myself within her, to have a part of me in her as her blood filled me.
“You weren’t like this before,” she murmured, tracing a finger over my collarbone. “Delirious. Sick.” Out of my mind, I mentally added.
I sighed. “That’s because I’d been feeding regularly before. I needed blood to help me heal, but… I wasn’t at risk of bloodlust then,” I murmured. “I pushed myself for too long, too hard, without drinking.”
She frowned. “Why didn’t you tell me? If I had known…”
“You would have offered your blood?” When she didn’t respond, I looked away. “I wasn’t going to tell you because I didn’t want you to worry about me. I didn’t want you to feel obligated to me, a mate you didn’t ask for and don’t want.”
Because even though she’d let me drink from her today, even though we’d both dry humped until we’d had a release, I knew that hadn’t changed.
“But still.” Her voice was soft. “I wouldn’t—I don’t want you to suffer, either, Ezra. I don’t want that for any living thing.”
Right, I wasn’t special to her, and I needed to remind myself of that if I was going to survive being around her until we managed to break the bond.
“I’ve been in worse spots before,” I shrugged, like it was nothing serious.
Because downplaying it felt better than admitting the severity of the situation—of how badly I needed her—when she didn’t need me at all.
She gave a soft snort, like she doubted me. Then her eyes narrowed. “If you let yourself get to that point again, I might actually let you die this time.”
“Duly noted,” I joked, but part of me wondered if she was serious about that threat. “I’ll do my best not to get hurt again.”
Lifting her up, I deposited her back on her seat before she could make me promise to drink from her regularly just to keep my energy levels up. Unfortunately, I knew exactly what would happen if I continued to drink from her. And it was everything she didn’t want.
“Do you want me to drive?” Rina asked as I massaged my forehead.
“No.” My car was my baby. I’d had the red 1967 Ford Mustang convertible since it was first released, and over the years, had done my own upgrades to it, keeping it running smoothly. For a vintage car, it had a lot of modern upgrades. “I’m fine now.”
“Okay, if you insist… but maybe we should stop somewhere for the night? I know we need to get back, but we might be better if we sleep through the day instead of the night this time.”
My throat felt tight as I nodded, agreeing with her—even though the idea of getting back into a bed beside her seemed like the biggest mistake ever.
Even more than it had drinking her blood… or letting her ride on my lap until she came.
And how badly I wanted to do it again.
