Icatch her before she hits.
Her weight drops fast into my arms—too light, too unsteady.
“Ava—”
Her head falls back slightly, breath shallow.
“I’m okay…”
She’s not.
Not even close.
Her fingers clutch at my shirt, gripping hard like she’s holding herself here by force.
“Don’t stop,” she whispers. “We’re too close…”
My chest tightens.
“I’m not losing you for this.”
“I’m not dying,” she breathes.
Then quieter—
“Not if we finish it.”
Her hand lifts.
Reaches for the console.
Shaking.
Weak.
But still moving.
I look at the system.
Then back at her.
The choice hits hard.
Fast.
I shift my grip, pulling her upright, anchoring her against me.
“Tell me what to do.”
Her eyes find mine.
Focused.
Fighting.
Alive.
“Stay with me,” she whispers.
I tighten my hold.
“Always.”
