Chapter 26

FUR-EVER HOMES FORUM

Forum Thread: Why does my goat have a stash?

I need help because I think my goat is stealing from me. I keep finding random items—socks, gardening gloves, one flip-flop—piled neatly in the same corner of the barn. At first I blamed raccoons. Then I watched the security camera.

Define “neatly.”

@goatlover24:

Like… grouped. Socks together. Gloves together. Shoes in a row.

@barnlife87:

Congratulations, your goat has a system.

@goatlover24:

This is not comforting.

@LivviwithTwoVs:

Is it possible the goat thinks these items belong to the herd?

@goatlover24:

Why would the herd need three unmatched socks and a baseball cap?

@swimmerwithafish:

Fashion is cyclical.

@goatlover24:

The cap is mine. I watched her take it off the fence post and carry it away like a prize.

@LivviwithTwoVs:

Goats are notorious collectors. They like textures and familiar smells. It’s basically interior decorating.

@goatlover24:

She added a water bottle last night. It’s empty. I don’t know where she found it.

@swimmerwithafish:

At this point you’re just a supplier.

@barnlife87:

Important question: does she react if you move the pile?

@goatlover24:

Yes. She watched me. Then moved everything back. Slowly.

@puglover91:

That’s not a stash. That’s her room.

@goatlover24:

I think I’ve been robbed by an animal with hooves.

@goldenboymom:

Leave the pile alone. You don’t want to escalate.

@goatlover24:

I am afraid you’re right.
