Chapter 42
FORTY-TWO
Astrid was trying to kill me when I was trying so fucking hard to be good. She was still fucking cagey when it came to us. I didn’t think having sex while she was drunk would be a good idea.
“Ty,” she whimpered my name in her breathy tone, and all my blood rushed to my dick. The fucker probably hated me at this moment too.
“Beautiful,” I began to say, but she was having none of it.
Astrid turned around and shut me up with a kiss.
Her hands tangled in my hair as her mouth nipped and licked the corner of my lips, teasing me.
Knowing she was wearing my shirt with no bra and skimpy-ass underwear was my undoing.
My hands wrapped around her waist, gripping the shirt at the sides, causing it to bunch up around her waist.
Her legs were soft like silk. Suddenly, I didn’t know where to touch her. I dragged one of her legs around my waist. Astrid was sprawled half on top of me. I could feel her core pressed against my aching dick.
I wanted her.
No, I needed her.
She was everything I had ever wanted and more.
“You are so fucking gorgeous,” I confessed breathlessly as I pulled away from her.
Her eyes were glossy, partly due to the alcohol and from that kiss.
Her lips were swollen, and her chest rose and fell haphazardly.
Astrid maneuvered herself above me. Before I could say anything else, she began to kiss my neck.
Her nails raked over my chest. She nipped and kissed her way down my chest and abs.
My dick was throbbing.
“Beautiful,” I croaked as I looked down at her.
Fuck.
She smirked at me as she pulled down my drawstring pants along with my boxers. My dick sprang free, and the naughty little vixen licked her lips while maintaining eye contact with me.
I was mesmerized watching the way her head bent, the way her hair caressed my abs and thighs. Shit, I had fantasized about this a thousand times, but nothing could have prepared me for the way it felt being engulfed in her mouth.
Wet.
Warm.
And she was taking all of me.
I could feel her cheeks hollow out as she sucked me in deeper, then she pulled back and playfully licked the tip.
She did it all over again, and my control snapped at the mere thought of her doing this with anyone else.
She felt amazing, but even in this state, I knew having her fumbling and shy would have done it for me, but because we were idiots I missed out on that experience.
Astrid was driving me crazy.
My hips thrust to meet her pouty little mouth, and just as I was about to apologize, she moaned around my cock, the vibrations causing a tingling to go down my spine.
Fuck.
I picked her hair up so I could fully see her and pushed back against her mouth, fucking her face.
She took everything I gave her and more.
“Astrid…fuck…I’m…”
I was trying to be a gentleman for the second time that night, but Astrid had other ideas. If the girl didn’t have half of my soul already, I was sure she would have sucked it out from me just now.
“Fucking goddess,” I murmured before I came in her mouth.
Astrid licked every last drop.
She began to kiss her way up my body, and at the same time, I hauled her up toward me. My mouth found hers, and it was fucking heaven. Every moment with her was something I wouldn’t take for granted anymore.
“Let me take care of you.”
My words were murmured against the crook of her neck as I flipped us over. Much like she had done, I began to do the same. Slowly nipping down her collarbone. My hands slowly dragged down her waist, and when I felt her skin, I gripped her thighs.
“Ty.” My name left her lips in a heady whisper.
I kissed her again as my hand skimmed over her skimpy underwear, groaning when I felt how wet she was just from sucking me off.
“I need you,” she moaned when I moved the cloth away so I could play with her clit.
Her back arched as I inserted two fingers inside of her. The only sounds were her panting, my soft breaths, and the obscene sounds my fingers were making as I fucked her wet pussy. Her walls started to grip my fingers as she fell apart, and I wished I could have felt it on my cock.
“You’re so fucking beautiful,” I told her as I leaned down to kiss her.
She gave me a sated smile, and fuck me, my new goal in life was to make sure I received one each and every night for the rest of my life.
Soon enough, Astrid curled up to me and fell asleep.
Buzz .
Buzz .
Buzz.
The soft, vibrating noise woke me up. The first thing I noticed once I was coherent enough was that my right arm was numb.
I tried to move it, and that’s when it all came rushing back, and despite the discomfort, I couldn’t help but smile at the fact that Astrid was in my arms. Slowly, I maneuvered my arm from under her and then reached for my phone.
I thought it was odd that Adam was calling me this early.
“Hey, what’s up?” I answered, still groggy.
“Do you know where Astrid is?” he asked.
If she wasn’t laying half naked next to me, I would have freaked out by the tone in his voice.
“What happened?” I asked instead.
“Rachel got arrested last night.”
“Shit,” I cursed, and it caused Astrid to stir from her sleep. “I’ll meet you at her house in thirty.”
“What happened?” Astrid asked in a husky voice.
I leaned down to kiss the top of her head.
“We have to go, beautiful. I’m not sure what happened, but Adam just called… He said Rach got arrested.”
Astrid gave a slow blink as she processed what I had just told her. Then she jumped out of bed and started to look for her clothes.
She looked at the dress she wore last night and scrunched her nose. I was already pulling out an extra pair of joggers and handing them to her. They would fit her big, but something about her wearing my clothes was incredibly appealing to me.
“What happened? How did you find out? Shit, do you think she needed me and I wasn’t there? Why was she arrested?”
I took a step toward her and held on to her shoulders to stop her from moving.
“Deep breaths, Astrid,” I told her. “We’ll figure this out. I told Adam we’ll meet up at your house.”
She nodded at my answer and then resumed dressing.
Astrid
I felt like I was going to be sick. What should have been a magical morning ended up being complete hell. Ty and I were sitting in a booth at Zeke’s. I rushed home with Tyler in tow, but in reality, there wasn’t much I could do.
My parents hadn’t been home, which I wasn’t sure if I was disappointed about or relieved, since it meant I didn’t have to explain my actions to them. Hell, after the last time they probably figured I was at Ty’s house.
The neighbors across the street didn’t have much input either, and I cursed my doorbell camera because the angle wasn’t favorable toward Rachel’s house. Since it was Sunday it also meant our hands were tied.
Tyler rubbed my back in soothing circles. “It’s going to be okay.”
Before I could answer him, two figures moved toward us. The first was Adam, and he took the seat across from us before he spoke.
“Hey, Astrid, brother.” This was said by EZ who sat next to Adam.
“Why are you guys here?” I asked.
Not that I minded, but it was odd. The three of us didn’t hang out, and it had been a while since I’d been kidnapped to attend their family dinners.
“Why, are we interrupting your date?” EZ waggled his eyebrows at me, and I immediately shut up.
Adam did not. He let out a dramatic gasp.
“Ezekiel, was that a joke?” He leaned into his brother’s chest. “Is your little grinch heart beginning to grow?”
When I started to giggle, EZ cut me off with a glare.
“Have you guys heard anything?” I asked them.
Adam sighed.
“No, no one knows much. The fact that it is Sunday doesn’t help either.”
“I mean, isn’t she back with her ex? I’m sure he has it handled. The dude was a mayor, I’m sure he has political connections.”
At his words, I felt myself lose some of the tension I had been carrying. Ty was right; Prescott had sat right beside us at the wedding yesterday. That was his best friend who happened to be a detective, so he had connections.
“Ohmigod,” I screeched, making all three brothers jump up. “My friend Oriana must know what’s going on. She works with me on the paper.” I left out the part that it was her wedding yesterday, but desperate times called for desperate measures.
All of them looked at me and nodded.
“I bet that gossip queen must know all about this.” Adam snapped his fingers as the idea came to him.
“What gossip queen?”
“The one in your paper. Who is it? Or is it all-around anonymous?”
My stomach sank at the realization that they were talking about me without even knowing they were doing it.
Truth be told, since my articles “Around Town with Hart” had been taking off, I had not been paying the same amount of attention to my “gossip” column.
Ronnie didn’t seem to call me out on it as long as I kept doing my work.
I didn’t like to dwell on it because then I would have to come face to face with some uncomfortable truths.
Again, this was not the time nor the place to think about that. But Adam’s idea did have merit. I had not checked the email inbox in a few days. Perhaps someone had some information that could help our girl Rachel out.
“You are a genius, Adam,” I told him as I got up, more than ready to get home and check my laptop.
Ty and EZ groaned—at least, I was sure it was them since I didn’t bother to turn.
“Beautiful, wait up,” Ty yelled after me.
Without thinking, I took his hand and led us to his truck. When we got there, he didn’t unlock it immediately. I craned my neck to look up at him, and sure enough, his eyes were on me, and there was a smirk on his face.
“Ty, we don’t have time for dramatics. Take me to my house. I need my laptop.”
His eyes went soft and then trailed down from my face to our hands, where I was still holding him. I felt my cheeks heat and was about to let go, but he didn’t let me. Instead, he took two steps forward to close the distance between us and then kissed me softly on the lips.
“It’s going to be okay. We are going to figure this out.”
Maybe it was how sure he was looking at me or the conviction in his tone, but I believed him despite all his broken promises.
