Outlaw Announces Hiatus
One of country music’s hottest bands is stepping back from the spotlight.
Through their manager, Charlotte Townsend, Outlaw announced an indefinite hiatus, putting a pause on fans’ hopes for new music. The announcement came following a flurry of online speculation sparked by a Country Music Magazine article hinting at an upcoming tour for the band.
“I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Outlaw is not currently recording new music or planning their next tour,” Townsend said. “In fact, they’re actually taking some well-earned time off. They have no plans to return to the studio in the immediate future.”
When asked whether the band was calling it quits, Townsend was quick to shut down that rumor as well. “Absolutely not. They’re just stepping away from the music business to enjoy the holidays with friends and family, but they’ll be back at it soon.”
Disappointed fans wasted no time taking to social media to express their feelings .
“Sad! It’s been almost two years since we got a new album from Outlaw,” one fan wrote on X.
Another posted to a fan forum, “Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is new music from Outlaw!”
Outlaw, composed of lead singer Ruston Hayes, guitarist Rowdy Carruthers, bassist Josh Harper, and drummer James Harper, first burst onto the scene nine years ago with their self-titled debut.
Since then, they’ve released three more albums, each one topping the country charts and solidifying their status as giants of the genre.
While there’s no timeline for Outlaw’s return, fans can take heart because Outlaw still owes one more album under their current contract with M&M Records.
So, that means we haven’t heard the last of them yet.
