Scott: Today we go shopping for a good cause. I’ve adopted two siblings from the angel tree at the elementary school. I’ll see you soon.

Working for your son in law has its perks. And getting to go shopping in the middle of a weekday with barely any notice is one of them.

While we were decorating gingerbread houses last night, or just simply making a sugary mess, Scott asked if I would be able to get off work to go shopping for the local elementary school’s angel tree. So I text Preston and he answered right away that I could have the time off. I'm sure that Scarlett had a lot to do with the quick response.

I am changed and ready to go by the time Scott rings the doorbell just after lunchtime.

“Hello Beautiful. Are you ready to go? We’re going to your favorite restaurant for dinner after we shop till we drop for these kids.” Scott has the most devilishly handsome smile under that beard.

“My favorite restaurant? Just how would you know that?” I ask, joking with him. I can’t recall ever talking about that.

“You mentioned it once when we were cooking our surf and turf dinner over the summer. Remember when we were planning the luau for the seniors? You said they had the best steak you’d ever tasted in your whole life. So I took a gamble that it was your favorite,” he says as he starts the car.

Wow . That was so long ago, and I don’t even remember mentioning it. This man not only paid attention, but remembered it six months later.

“Scott. That is so thoughtful.” I place my hand in his, giving a light squeeze noticing the twinkle that is in his eye.

“It’s nothing. Trust me.” He leans down and kisses my cheek. “Now are you ready to go?”

I nod my head enthusiastically. I love getting to shop for the angel tree, I’ve done it every year since Lacey started kindergarten. Knowing that we can help spread Christmas joy to children who are needing a little extra joy, fills my heart.

We filled the back of Scott’s truck with items for the kids. We even had to put stuff in the bed of his truck. We definitely worked up an appetite and I’m excited to see if Scott really did remember my favorite restaurant.

I would be grateful for anywhere he took me.

I am pleasantly surprised when Scott pulls into the parking lot of my favorite steak house. “Wow. You really did pay attention,” I smile over at him.

“Of course I remembered. You said it was your favorite steak, and your family always comes here to celebrate special occasions,” he smiles back.

“What is the special occasion today?” I ask with a hint of curiosity.

“Being with you.”

I blush at the sincerity in his voice.

It has been a long time since I have felt wanted like this. And while I still feel guilty at times, I have to admit it is nice to have the company and affection again.

Dinner was just as delicious as I remember. And I can't wait for the chocolate cheesecake to come for dessert.

"Here you go, anything else I can get for you?" our waitress asks.

"I think we're all set, thank you," Scott tells her.

I dig into the cheesecake and the first bite has a moan leaving my mouth involuntarily. The velvety smooth cheesecake is highlighted by the candy cane dust sprinkled on top. It's a Christmas explosion on my tongue.

"Anything that has you making noises like that must be good." Scott winks in my direction.

I didn't realize I was making noises while I eat my cheesecake, "It's so good."

Scott picks up his fork and takes a bite of my cheesecake. As soon as it hits his tongue he moans too.

"Oh that is good," he says with a mouthful of cheesecake.

And now I see why he was so attuned to my moaning, I'm imagining what other things make him moan like that. I haven't wondered these thoughts about a man in years.

But now, I don't know if I can stop.
