Chapter 405 Owen Already Knew

"How could that happen?" Zara was shocked as well. "Could it be that chicken wing?"

It was the only explanation she could think of.

"Maybe," Lucian said.

That made the situation far more complicated. "I need to find a way to contact Cyranth. He should know what it is."

Zara had no idea what the wing inside Lucian's body was, so Cyranth was the only person they could ask.

As the ruler of a forbidden zone, he was bound to know exactly what was going on.

Yet the last time they met, he had not told Zara or Lucian anything about it.

"It's late," Lucian said. "Aren't you tired? Get some rest and look into it tomorrow morning."

Zara decided he had a point, but she had no intention of staying at the hospital.

"I'm going home first. I'll call you as soon as I learn anything. Don't worry, Lucian. You're not dead yet, so try to stay positive!"

Lucian fell silent.

Somehow, that did not make him feel any better.

Zara returned home and found Aurelion and Pyrelion fast asleep.

She stuffed both dragons into her backpack.

Aurelion woke up in a daze. "What are you doing, Zara? Where are we going? Are you running away from home?"

"No."

She was going to see Owen.

Owen probably knew something about Lucian.

Zara could not explain why. It was simply a feeling.

She still had not asked Owen exactly what he had brought with him when he came to Earth all those years ago.

Valerius kept insisting that Zara possessed some sacred treasure, but she had never known anything about it.

If there really were a treasure inside her, how could she not sense it?

She called Owen first.

His instincts were as sharp as ever. He woke the moment his phone rang. When Zara told him she wanted to meet, he did not object.

Since dawn was already approaching, they agreed to meet at a breakfast place.

Magior was a sprawling city. By the time Zara returned home, packed up the two dragons, and made her way to meet Owen, it was nearly six in the morning.

Winter was approaching, and Magior lay beneath a blanket of pale mist. The morning air carried a distinct chill.

Zara put on a light jacket.

Before long, she arrived at the breakfast place where Owen was waiting.

The breakfast place was spacious, and they chose a table in the farthest corner. Customers gradually began filing in, and the growing hum of conversation helped conceal their discussion.

"Why were you in such a hurry to see me?"

Owen sat down, picked up his plate of food, and began eating at an unhurried pace.

So many things about him seemed at odds with his appearance. His mannerisms belonged to a polished, refined gentleman, yet he looked rugged and rough around the edges.

Even the way he ate food somehow carried an air of effortless sophistication.

After taking a bite, he continued before Zara could speak.

"I actually like the atmosphere here. After living on Earth for decades, I still think this world is better. It's quiet and peaceful. Nothing constantly comes along to disrupt your life. You can live among ordinary people and be one of them."

Zara had come to ask about Lucian, but Owen's words made her pause. "So you want an ordinary life?"

Owen took a bite of his food. "More or less. I've lived this way for decades now. I'm pretty content."

Zara thought for a moment, then said, "Once everything between Earth and the Divine World is settled, you can live however you want. I can make sure of that."

Owen fell silent.

After finishing the food, he said directly, "I know why you came. Something happened to your fiancée, didn't it?"

Zara froze. "You knew?"

It seemed her instincts had been right after all.

Owen let out a sigh. "The timing is about right."

Zara frowned in confusion. "What exactly do all of you know? Is it still something you can't tell me?"

"I can tell you. The problem is, I don't know much myself." Owen looked at her. "My brother has always believed I took the Upper Realm's sacred inheritance treasure with me, hasn't he?"

Zara nodded. "Yeah, that's what he keeps saying. He acts completely unhinged about it, but how am I supposed to know what this treasure is? You never left me anything."

She had been falsely accused this entire time!

"I did leave it with you," Owen said.

Zara stared at him. "Don't make things up out of nowhere!"

If she really possessed some priceless treasure, would she still be living like this?

Owen raised his head and looked at her seriously.

"I never told you before because I wasn't sure what you truly thought, or what kind of existence you were to us. Now I understand you better, and there are certain things I can finally tell you."

"The sacred inheritance treasure isn't some object, and it isn't the kind of treasure you're imagining." He continued, "It's you."

Zara fell silent.

She had to admit, her entire understanding of reality had just taken a direct hit.

She was the sacred inheritance treasure?

She was a treasure belonging to the Imperial Clan?

What the hell?

Wasn't she a person?
