Chapter Twenty-two Summer #3
He’s still pretending to be grumpy, but the slight incline of his lips gives him away.
“Your abs are better.” I slide my hands under his T-shirt and revel in the ridges of muscles.
“You don’t have to gas me up. I saw your eyes light up when he came on-screen.” He glances down at my mood ring. “And you’re purple.”
“That’s because the movie is about soccer.” And because I’m with him.
“You and your love of soccer.” His hands find my waist.
I’m straddling him now, knees on either side of his hips.
He pulls me closer, and I fall into his chest. His mouth meets mine. Warmth pools low in my stomach and pleasure hums across my skin.
The anticipation and small touches all night have led to this, and there’s no warm-up before we’re making out like there’s a timer and we’re racing to the finish line. His tongue sweeps into my mouth, and one of his hands comes to my neck.
My core tightens as he shifts underneath me. The movement drags my center over his hard length, and I suck in a breath.
“Do you want to go upstairs?” he asks, the invitation clear.
Down here we can pretend to watch a movie and make out until we’re both flustered and breathless.
Upstairs there’s only one outcome. And it isn’t sleep.
At least not yet. I’m too keyed up. I don’t want to pretend anymore with Rowan. I want it all.
“I don’t have any condoms down here,” he adds, solidifying his intentions. “Your call. We can keep watching your old-man boyfriend if you want. I’m happy just having you here.”
“Upstairs,” I whisper against his lips.
He stands, holding me to him. I wrap my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck, and he carries me out of the theater room, not bothering to turn off the movie. The house is dark, but he makes his way effortlessly back into the main part of the house and then up the stairs to his bedroom.
He drops me on top of his bed, then hovers over me. In the quiet of his room, all I can hear is our breathing and my own heartbeat. I’m not nervous. Not like I was my first time.
“I can’t believe you’re here,” he says, studying my face like he wants to remember it. “Silas Lindsey’s sister is in my bed.”
I groan. “Please don’t mention my brother right now.”
He lets out a rough chuckle. “Sorry.”
I sit up. He moves back to let me. I pull my shirt over my head and toss it to one side of the bed. His stare drops straight to my boobs.
“Still thinking about Silas?”
“Who?” he asks without lifting his gaze.
I let out a small laugh, but it dies off when his hands come up and cover me. His thumbs glide across my sensitive nipples over the material of my bra. My stomach tightens and a shiver rolls down my spine.
My hands shake a little as I reach behind me to unhook the clasp. The material falls slowly and then my back is against the comforter again and he’s kissing me. Our tongues and teeth clash as we press into each other, trying to get impossibly closer.
His shirt comes off next. I toss it toward mine, then drag my hands over his stomach and chest and back down. He groans when my fingers brush against the front of his jeans, so I do it again, this time intentionally.
“Can I?” I ask as I hook one finger in the waistband above the button.
“Yeah.” He makes another deep low sound as I undo his jeans and then slip my hand inside and touch him. “Oh, fuck.”
His eyes flutter closed, and he tips his head back. His throat works with a swallow as I pump my hand slowly. His jeans are in the way, so I retreat but only so I can push both his jeans and boxers down. He rolls off me to help. We get his clothes off, then the rest of mine.
When we’re both naked, we roll onto our sides, facing each other. He grins as he looks at me unabashedly.
“You’re stunning.”
“So are you.”
That smile tilts, and he leans in to press a soft kiss to my lips. “Obviously.”
I’m laughing again when he pushes me back, and then he’s on top of me. He kisses me while he gets a condom from the nightstand. Then he covers himself and checks in with me again.
“Still okay?”
“Better than okay.”
“Yeah. Same.”
His touches are sweet and tender. His fingers dip between my legs, stroking me gently before he lines himself up at my entrance.
When he pushes inside, my breath hitches.
“You feel so good.” His voice is tight and strained.
My heart is a wild beast trying to escape my chest. He moves slowly, each thrust making my body climb higher to the top of some invisible mountain.
“Rowan,” I gasp as a million sensations explode all at once. I grip onto his shoulder tightly as stars light up behind my eyelids.
“Summer.” His reply is followed by a deep guttural sound. His body slumps on mine and then rolls. I place my head against his chest, letting the heavy pound lull me into a sleepy, contentment.
He kisses me again, then gets up to get rid of the condom. He pulls a T-shirt and sweats from his dresser, pulling on the latter and then tossing me the shirt.
It smells like him. Or maybe that’s me.
“I’m never giving this back,” I tell him as I pull it on.
“As long as you wear it in my bed, it’s all yours, Lindsey.”
