Chapter 3 – Silas

SILAS

“S o, let me get this right,” my best friend Milo Darling says, barely suppressed humor lightening his voice. “Your sister got you to date a woman when your mother couldn’t?’

“No. That’s not it at all.”

When he bursts out laughing, I realize he’s just screwing with me. I don’t always get humor.

“Who is the woman?’

“She’s a receptionist here for my sister’s division. Apparently, they’ve become friends.”

“Oh…Georgie?”

I frown. “What the fuck?”

He shrugs. “I pay attention to your sister when she talks, and we are friends on social media.”

“I told you that’s a bad thing to do.”

“Listen to your sister or be on social media?”

“Both.”

He laughs, shaking his head while he pulls out his phone. “Either way, there’s a ton of pictures of the two of them on there.”

He taps on his phone, then turns it to face me. My sister’s Instagram is filled with pictures of her. But most of it has to do with work. She works in the marketing division and she does a good job of selling our brand. And then there are pictures of her and Georgie. Damn, that woman is sweet. That smile, the way her eyes sparkle as if she has some private joke she’s keeping to herself.

“What was that?”

I look up from his phone. “What?”

“You hummed.”

Heat feels my face as I avoid making eye contact. “I did not.”

I probably did. It’s the same reaction I’ve had to her since I met her. It’s one of the reasons I didn’t want her to play my girlfriend. It is going to be hard to keep my head screwed on straight. The things I want to do to her body should be illegal. My fingers tingled with the need to touch. Georgie is a distraction that I don’t need. I haven’t been able to keep my mind on anything else since meeting her.

The smile Milo gives me tells me that he doesn’t believe me any more than I believe myself. He holds his hand out for his phone. Panic hits me first, which is insane, and I hesitate before I hand it back to him.

“This should make the weekend even more interesting.”

“Rachel is going to be there. I was desperate.”

He makes a face. Of course he does. He’s been half in love with my sister for years; although, he has yet to act on it. So he knows that Rachel was horrible to my sister.

“That’s one barracuda that I want to avoid,” I say, and he nods in response.

Rachel is relentless in her pursuit of a wealthy husband. She has money of her own, but from what I gather, she wants status. I don’t have a problem with anyone who wants to get married, but there is something sinister about that woman. I don’t think she would hurt anyone physically, but she’s definitely someone who would hurt another person to make herself feel better. That makes her a monster in my book.

“You think you can fool your mother?”

I nod. “According to Hazel, Momzilla will be so happy that I brought a woman home, she won’t care.”

“You know your sister is a genius in marketing, but she concocts schemes in her personal life. They always blow up in her face.”

I shrug. “I said I was desperate. And Georgie apparently needs the money.”

“True.”

Milo says it in a tone that tells me he knows more about Georgie than I do, and that irritates the hell out of me. I mean, what the fuck? He’s supposed to be in love with my sister. He can just stay the hell away from my Georgie.

My Georgie?

Okay, I might be losing it. I met the woman for less than thirty minutes and now I am claiming ownership. What the hell is that?

But even as I think that I know. Hell, I knew the moment I walked into my sister’s office and saw her that she was going to be trouble. More than once I jacked off to the image of her, sitting there with her long blond hair, crystal green eyes, and that mouth…fuck, that mouth.

What was I thinking about? Oh, yeah, eating Georgie’s sweet little pussy. I can just imagine her little mewls as I push her over the edge.

And just like that, my dick is hard as a fucking spike. I can’t get the woman out of my mind, and that’s why I initially said no to my sister. I don’t know if I am going to be able to keep my hands off the woman.

“What’s going on up there?” Milo asks, pointing to my head.

“Nothing,” I mutter, as I tamp down on the surge of jealousy now bouncing around my system.

Rationally, I know that Milo has been infatuated with Hazel for years and isn’t interested in Georgie. But when it comes to my fake girlfriend, I don’t think rationally. The questions that keep running through my brain just won’t stop. Does she sleep in on the weekends? Does she like sunny weather or rain? How would she sound when she moans my name as she comes on my dick?

The snapping of fingers brings me out of my thoughts.

“Seriously, dude, what is going on with you?”

Worry fills his expression. I understand why. The only time I get like this is when I am thinking about work. It’s why I’m happily a workaholic. But ever since I met her, all I can think of is Georgie. I should be worried about that, but I can’t. Not when all I want to do is strip her naked and spend three weeks in bed with her.

“You’re useless,” Milo says with a thread of disgust.

I pull back from all the fantasies and look at him. “I’m not useless. I’m not good at lying, so I’m trying to come up with a way to keep Momzilla from finding out.”

He cocks his head. “I have to agree with that. For someone who is so good at business, you are crap at poker.”

“Being good at poker has nothing to do with business. And I’m good at blackjack, so there is that.”

He grunts as he stands. “I have to head out. I’ve got to wrangle Theo and make sure he has everything set up for the meals this weekend.”

“Have fun with that.”

Just like our business, Milo’s family runs this particular resort, which is their most popular and most profitable. The entire family, including cousins, aunts, and uncles, all work in the business up and down the east coast. Theo happens to be the head chef at their jewel resort out in the Shenandoah area. He’s an amazing chef, but he’s temperamental.

“How much do you know about this woman?”

I shrug. I want to know more, but my low-key stalking on social media produced very little on her. She barely posts.

“You might want to have a dinner or something. You know, so Momzilla doesn’t pick up on the fact that you don’t know your serious girlfriend.”

“A dinner?”

“Yeah, you will need to have a cover story about how you met and all that. Don’t you watch any romantic comedies?”

“No.” I don’t really watch any movies. Although, the idea of sitting in the dark cuddled up with Georgie, sharing a bowl of popcorn is very appealing.

“Well, they always have a meet cute.”

“What the hell is a meet cute?” This is getting a little out of control. All I want to do is celebrate my parents’ anniversary in peace. Now I have a gorgeous fairy who will accompany me and test my control at every turn. Worse, I now have to pretend to be in love.

“How you two met. It’s what they call it.”

“How do you know about all of this stuff?”

“I talk to women.”

“I talk to women too.”

“You talk to women who work for you. About work.” I open my mouth to point out there is one woman I talk to about things other than work, but he stops me.

“Your sister doesn’t count.”

I frown. “Fine. So you think I should meet up with her?”

“Couldn’t hurt.”

After he leaves, I find myself looking out the window of my office, my gaze unfocused. I haven’t been on a date in forever, and all the dates I had before now were business related in a way. Romancing women has never been a priority but since seeing Georgie for the first time, I now think there is some merit to the idea.

Just thinking about her has my cock hardening. She has the cutest little overbite and those lush lips…I dreamt of her last night, and I woke up with my hand wrapped around my dick jacking off. And I did it again in the shower.

I scrub a hand over my face and force my gaze away from the window and back on work. She is definitely one distraction I don’t really need. She’s a means to an end.
