Chapter 29 #2

Before any of the men could move forward, Maggie and Fallon were on either side of her, helping her get up.

“I wrecked it,” Evie wailed.

“You didn’t ruin anything. I get to meet my Goddsdaughter,” Fallon said.

Maggie rubbed her sister's back rather hard. “Wait! Why is she the Goddsmother? I’d better get the second one.”

“I don’t want another one!” Evie wailed as she bore down. “Isn’t this supposed to be easy for shifters?”

“Well, you’re birthing a gigantic dragon… or a bear… or a dragon bear?” Fallon babbled, clearly stressed.

“Not helping,” Evie gasped.

“You’re doing great,” I told Evie, because Ward seemed all but paralysed and Noth was watching Maggie’s ass as they walked back and forth.

“Share her pain, Ward!” I yelled at him as Evie bellowed into the temple.

“Do what?” he said, shaking himself out of his stupor.

“Across the bond. Share her pain.”

Ward turned inward and began to shake. All his wedding finery clanked with trembling metal.

I rushed over to hold him up until he slumped into the chair Evie had left vacant.

“How can they do this?” Ward’s strangled voice barely made it out of his throat.

“Get him some water or something,” I told Noth.

“Bossy now that you’re mated, wolf.” But Noth trudged off to the back room to find the well.

Evie heaved, legs shaking as Fallon, Maggie and a bit of Old Magic held her up.

“One, two, three and then push. Then it will all be over.”

“I think this is just the start,” Maggie mumbled over her sister’s head.

But Fallon had that look in her eye. The one that said nothing was going to get in her way. Her magic filled the room. I tasted milk and honey on the back of my tongue.

Noth handed me the well dipper and Ward gratefully gulped down the cold water.

“Hold her, Elf,” Fallon barked and she dropped to the floor between Evie’s legs.

Noth complied, but probably just to clasp Maggie’s hand behind Evie’s back.

“One! Two! Three!” Fallon shouted.

Evie bore down and Fallon worked her magic through our bond as a tiny life slipped into her waiting arms.

“It’s over?” Evie slurred her words.

The wail that followed roused everyone.

“Did you do that?” Maggie asked.

Fallon shrugged. “I just cook food, Mags.”

Each of our magics clashed to produce a bower, a bed, a blanket from a sigil, and dragonborne fire from the stone floor.

I rolled a collapsed Ward into the bed as Maggie helped Evie finish the birth and clean up.

Carrying Evie to the bed, Noth arranged her against a dazed Ward and Fallon stood with the baby in her arms just a second too long.

“Welcome to the Harrowlands, little one.” She placed the baby on Evie’s chest and stepped back.

A rush of pride filled me. Our lives would be so full with all of this surrounding us. Fallon and Maggie cooed over the new addition.

Noth nudged my shoulder. “You should take her.”

“She’s enjoying her time with them.”

His smile softened his severe features. “It’s your wedding day. It’s okay to be a little mean, Declan.”

Honey did look tired and her hunger reached through the bond, rumbling my stomach. I touched my cape pin.

“Let’s let them get some rest, Honey.” I nodded to Evie and Ward and gestured around us. “You can stay here as long as you need. We’ll have food sent up and the Old Magic will keep you safe.”

Fallon walked over, as dreamy as I’d ever seen her. “I did it.”

I kissed her forehead. “You did.” All of it, like the Queen she was. “Can we finish our wedding now?”

“Holy shit, Dec. I completely forgot. The pack! Do we have to finish it in front of them?”

“Do you want to?” I asked.

Fallon’s conflict spiked across the bond but I would let her make the decision.

“No,” she said, twisting her fingers in my cape.

“Then they will be happy to see us when we’re done.”

Fallon turned to Noth. “Can you still take us to the cabin?”

I blew out a relieved breath. The bite was about to send my mate into a frenzy. I wanted her all to myself when it hit.

Noth nodded and a black void opened before him. For once, Noth didn’t try to make the journey any harder than it had to be. It might have counted as downright gentle for the Nightmare Walker. Maggie had really softened his edges.

“Don’t forget to fuck her mouth too,” Noth chucked at me as some sort of demented wedding gift. He spat us out at the entrance to the snug home.

Maggie dragged him away, tossing a “Good luck, girl!” before they disappeared into the shadows of the pines surrounding our den.

Okay, maybe Maggie just kept all those sharp edges pointed away from us.

Finally alone, I thumped my wolf tail in anticipation only tinged slightly with fear. I wanted all my promises of our life together to be true.

“You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to,” I said.

She looked around the cabin as if confirming her list was still checked off. “The change or the bond?”

“Any of it, Honey. I will gladly lie at your feet for eternity, no matter what.”

Fallon laughed. “Well, if you really want to know.”

My heart swooped into my boots. I meant what I said, but I also really, really wanted to be inside her.

She cocked a delicious hip. “I would like to get out of this dress, please.”

My hands scrambled at her clothes before I even knew I had moved.

“I want you to bite me and change me.”

Better than any ritual vow, I grew hard at her blunt order.

“And then I would like your penis in my vagina.”

I howled as the collar fell away, desperation filling me.

“Impossible woman!”

My jaws clamped on her shoulder right where it joined her neck. The taste of her skin jolted into me. Like my maw was the size of the Ajak, I took her whole body in my mouth and all of her soul. I prayed to the Old Magic to bring her the gift of the wolf. It never hurt to ask instead of command.

At the same time, the bond fused us in a shower of moonlight. I rejoiced in her taste and in the heat rising between us because I finally felt Fallon's heart, all of it, and it beat with mine. We entwined so completely that I started to tip into her soul, the Fate of us together inevitable.

Only my mate’s frantic hands brought me back to the cabin. My shoulder jerked as she rent my cloak. I slit her ceremonial dress right down the middle.

“Evie didn’t do this justice. Why are you still clothed!” She all but screeched the last part, ripping at my tunic underneath. Taking the pin off the cloak, I tossed it away and shifted, shifting back so I was naked for her in an instant.

I scooped her up into my arms, pressing her against the wall as she kissed me frantically, hands clawing at my back.

“What do I do? What do I DO, Dec?” Her teeth lengthened in her mouth and receded again.

“Right–” I let go of one of her clamping thighs to gesture to my shoulder and before I even finished, my forearm met her mouth.

Teeth pierced skin but instead of pain, the joy of us only redoubled.

Fallon gently placed her teeth on my arm, her wolf already forming, taking over her instincts even while she resisted.

If she would let her wolf go, I would die happy bleeding out to the sound of her growls.

“Mine,” she rumbled and my soul wavered. The full bond latching made my head swim in every aspect of my mate. Nothing hid from me now, including the awe and reverence I felt for her.

“Honey,” I panted into the room.

“What did I just do?” Panic filled her eyes. Her breath sawed in and out.

Her wolf would definitely test her carefully constructed control. I pet down her arms, my forearm clearly fine even if my chest was still heaving with the effort not to tumble inside her. Fallon eyed it like it would spontaneously break in half.

“You gave me the highest compliment a wolf can offer. You can use your teeth on me anytime.” I stroked a finger down her incisor as it grew again.

It would take convincing. I couldn’t have her mind churning again.

We were trying out a new system to gauge her pain.

I booped her nose with mine and she bopped me back in ascent.

It was silly, but less awkward when we were both beyond words.

She dove for my mouth again, filling my hands with her generous ass.

Every movement twitched my dick harder for her but I almost came with her next request.

“I want The Lucky Lady, page two hundred and four. No… The King’s Naughty Maid, page one hundred and ten.”

How many had she gotten through? I slid my cock over her entrance, teasing her, watching her tense and forget what she was saying.

“How about The Wolf’s Prize?” I kissed up her neck as her hips worked to line us up.

Her sticky juices made me slide all over those thighs I loved so much.

“I didn’t see that one. What does it say?”

“We’re about to write it, Honey.”

I plunged into her, aiming straight for her soul.

Her pleasure overwhelmed the bond, as she came apart for me at the first stroke.

Her spasming around me was better than any prayer or vow I could have said before an altar.

As the lust lulled, I gentled her heart into my keeping, just as she gripped mine.

Our chaste kisses only brought on the next wave of euphoria. It seemed like anything we did combusted. I howled to the moon and she joined me with her new wolf song. I couldn’t be more ready to write our story, together.
