Chapter Sixteen. #2

“Could be. Let’s see,” I said, hearing cops in the distance.

Wolf showed us the victim ran past the RV gates and headed towards the spot where he died.

Behind him, a bigger man chased and knocked him down.

The violence shown was sickening. The taller guy just kept whaling and stamping until the smaller one finally stopped moving.

In one breathtakingly shocking move, the big guy stamped on his head and then took off.

“Jesus,” Falcon looked sick.

“Cates is gonna need that. That’s Rawson for sure. This is either Dawson or Lawson. Jesus, the lunatic killed his own brother,” I said, shaking my head.

Cates pulled up with Farell behind her.

“Another body?” Farell demanded, eyeing everyone suspiciously.

“Yeah, and this time we’ve got the culprit too,” I replied.

Cates looked at Wolf, confused.

“Not him. Wolf has the footage. Everything was caught on camera; just don’t know who this is, Lawson or Dawson. But we know who did the killing. Wolf, send me the evidence.”

My phone beeped, and I passed it forward to Cates. She and Farell watched grim-faced.

“Christ, that’s Rawson Beauregard,” Farell exclaimed.

“I can’t tell if it’s Lawson or Dawson,” Cates admitted. She crouched down and studied the bruises, a swollen mess of a face.

“We’re gonna need Myka,” Farell muttered.

“Not happening,” Falcon stated implacably.

“She’s his—”

“Victim. Myka’s not identifying this body,” Falcon snarled and folded his arms across his chest.

“Cates, get Wanda-Faye. That cunt needs to understand what monsters she raised. This is on her, not Myka. I’m with Falcon, you’re not taking Myka, or telling her shit, not until you have an ID.”

Cates held my gaze and then nodded. “You need to give statements and leave. I’ll call you when I’ve got an identification.”

“Find Rawson. He’s an animal. Bad enough he killed his cousin, but now his brother. And like that? Man’s insane. Straight up, if Rawson comes on my land, I’m shooting his ass on sight, and so will my brothers.”

“Go home, just stop at the gates first and give my deputies a statement,” Cates replied without acknowledging what I’d said. I meant it, and Cates knew that.

Myka

Harleys roared into the parking lot, with Rage MC and their women on the back of the bikes.

“I thought they had children?” I asked Artemis.

“This isn’t all the National Chapter. That’s too much effort with the Hellions.

Half have stayed behind and will be watching over their kids.

That’s Drake and his old lady, Phoenix. She prefers Phoe.

We’ve got Fish and Marsha, Rock and Carly, and Jett and Sin.

Those there are Mac and Casey, Ezra and Dana, Lindsey and Lowrider, and Blaze and Ali-kat.

And that honey is my father-in-law, Apache and Silvie, his old lady.

” Artemis pointed the couples out as they dismounted.

I blanched at Falcon’s grandfather. “I’ll never keep everyone straight.”

“They’ve got cuts on, don’t worry.”

More Harleys arrived, and Artemis grinned. “That’s a beautiful sight. That’s the Unwanted Bastards MC. They were decimated in the war with the Venomous Fangs. That’s Inglorious and Nanci, Vortex and Amy, Chill, Razor, Doc, Moon, King, and Lasher and Daisy-Duke.”

“Okay. And they’re friendly?”

“Yes. Overly so; the single members want to settle down. Tell them you’re Falcon’s.”

“Won’t Falcon be mad?”

“Fuck no, I know my son; he’ll be overjoyed.”

“Nova! Give me some sugar!” an Unwanted Bastard yelled with a wicked grin. An audible growl came from behind me, and I tried to turn. Nova laughed and ran over, and the Unwanted Bastard grabbed and swung her around in the air before planting a smacker on her.

“I’m gonna do what the cancer didn’t and kill you, Razor!” Ace barked, making me jump as Razor chuckled.

“You and whose army, Ace?”

“I’ll scalp you!” Ace seethed, but it lacked heat.

“Sure. Go ahead. The chemo did that once already.” Razor smirked.

“He’s got cancer?” I whispered. Razor looked thin and pale.

“Razor’s in remission.”

“That’s good.” I watched as the brothers I knew greeted their guests. Soon there were people everywhere, and I became overwhelmed. Curious glances were cast my way, and panic started to rise.

“Mom, I’ve got Myka,” Nova said with an understanding glance. She wheeled me away quickly and out to the rear yard where the kids were. On seeing Jayes, some of my alarm eased.

“Okay, now?” Nova asked with a small smile.

“That was just too many strangers.”

“I get it. I grew up with them, but at first, it was terrifying. They all wanted to be our uncles and literally drowned us in affection. They’re good folk, but don’t piss them off.” Nova smiled.

“Falcon has spoken about them, and what happened with your parents and you. It’s too much.”

“Honestly, I understand. They’re loud and noisy, and freaking insane half the time. But they’ll love you because Falcon does.”

“Oh, no! Falcon’s not said anything…”

“Myka. Falcon is my twin. I can feel his emotions. He’s going slowly because he doesn’t want to scare you. Falcon understands what you’ve suffered and won’t do anything to jeopardise your recovery. Which is funny because Falcon can be the most impatient person alive sometimes,” Nova stated, amused.

“But his training and everything.”

“Oh, around that Falcon has limitless patience. He knows rushing his healing will end one or both of his careers. But outside of swimming and Ju-Jitsu, nope, Falcon is a nightmare. You’ve calmed him.”

“That’s a good thing, right?” I asked, unsure.

“Yes. Here comes trouble.”

The guy walking over was as sexy as hell and knew it. From his cocky smile to his messy hair and his super-fit body, he was a woman’s wet dream.

“Hey, gorgeous,” he said, dropping a kiss on Nova’s head.

“Inglorious, you look well.”

“Nanci kicked my butt into gear.” Inglorious grinned, his gaze searching the crowd and then resting on his old lady. Inglorious turned. “Used to be, I’d flirt with any beautiful woman and try to steal them away. Now Nanci would beat my ass, but I can still say, ‘hi gorgeous’.”

I laughed at the guileless look in his eyes.

“Don’t listen to him. Inglorious can’t help himself. I’m Nanci,” she said, approaching. They exchanged a look of love, and it warmed my heart.

“Myka,” I said, offering my good hand.

“She’s Falcon’s,” Nova stated.

Inglorious and Nanci turned to stare with huge smiles. “Is that so?”

“Yes,” Nova answered for me. Inglorious checked me over, his smile fading.

“The kid better have beaten the shit out of your attacker,” he growled.

“Her asshole ex is on the run. We’ll find him,” Nova promised.

“Pres, stop hogging the beautiful ladies.” Another brother, Chill, appeared.

“She’s Falcon’s,” Inglorious said and smirked.

“Are you fuckin’ kidding? First Rage’s National Chapter takes all the available women, and now Ortonville is doing the same? I’m gonna beat someone’s ass,” Chill declared with an exaggerated pout.

“Wanna bring it on, old man?” Falcon demanded, appearing. He cocked his head and then bent down and laid one on me.

Inglorious, Nanci, and Nova whooped.

“That’s making a statement!” Inglorious chuckled.

When Falcon ended the kiss, he was smirking at my blush. “Missed you.”

“Fuckin’ Rage!” Several guys yelled, and Falcon tipped a beer bottle he was carrying in their direction.

“Sweetheart, I’ve got twenty-four hours to convince you I’m the better option. Do you know we’re based in Meritt, in an old Wild West town?”

“Really?” I asked excitedly, and Falcon rolled his eyes.

“Chill might live in an old mining town, but I can kill him ten different ways with my bare hands,” Falcon shot back.

“And I can pull a gun and shoot you,” Chill declared as the rest of us laughed.

“Touche!” Falcon chuckled, resting a possessive hand on my shoulder. His claim was clear, and knowing eyes watched us. Falcon had made a statement, and I liked it.
