EPILOGUE
Two years later
– KENZ –
The music from the main room of the clubhouse is loud. We’re having a party tonight. Well, it’s more of a celebration of life and memorial for those we’ve lost. This brotherhood has been a dangerous one for decades.
First as outlaws, more recently working for the government which has its own risks. The wall in the main room holds photographs of Atteo, along with a prospect, and a few others who died over the years. A deep sigh rips from me due to the sadness hitting hard.
I’m not really hungry when I place the last hotdog on my plate and take a seat next to Livi who’s sitting at the dinner table in the kitchen. She shoves her hotdog into her mouth and chews while she stares at my plate.
Sliding it a bit out of her reach I ask, “Everything okay?”
My mind drifted off while I was getting a hotdog from the counter, but I swear the whole action only took a freaking minute or three. All while I know for a fact Livi had two hotdogs sitting in front of her. She inhaled those fuckers.
“Are you going to eat that?” she asks and points at my plate.
“Back off,” I snap and move the plate a little more out of her way.
She flips me off and still keeps her eyes on my food like a hungry animal ready to pounce. I shake my head at her munchies level until it suddenly clicks inside my head. I grab the hotdog, and I swear her eyes move along with my hand.
A chuckle rips from me and I ask, “Does Thorsten know?”
Livi frowns while I hear the man in question rumble, “Does Thorsten know what?”
“Your woman has the munchies in overdrive again,” I tell him and take a bite of my hotdog.
“Bitch,” Livi mutters and glares at me, still oblivious if you ask me.
Thorsten, on the other hand, clearly isn’t when he grunts, “Fuck, yeah.”
Falcon, who is standing beside his brother, shoots me a grin and I give my man a wink in return.
“What’s going on?” Livi’s gaze bounces between us and the hotdog in my hand.
Handing her the food, she greedily takes it and doesn’t even mind I already took a bite. She groans and polishes off the whole thing within three bites.
“So good,” she mumbles and sighs in contentment.
We’re all staring at her and after a few breaths she finally notices and asks, “What? I was hungry and she took the last one.”
Thorsten chuckles. “You had one with me and two others on your plate when I left you in the kitchen. And I guess I shouldn’t mention the fries you made me pick up two hours ago, eh?”
Finally, her eyes go wide when she realizes it too. “Shit.” Shooting Thorsten an angry glare she snaps, “This is all your fault.”
The guilty man grins. “Trying to give Novak a little brother or sister was a mutual decision.”
“Gah.” Livi shoves her chair away from the table and heads straight to her husband’s awaiting arms. “We’d better go for a run to get a test and make sure.”
Falcon snaps his fingers and I bob my head to tell them, “Falcon and I are going for a ride. We can either swing by the drugstore or you could join us.”
“Macsen babysitting duty?” Thorsten asks.
I grin. “Yeah.”
A little over three months ago I gave birth to a lovely baby girl. Raven stole not only our hearts, but those of all around us. Especially Macsen, since he was in the room with us when she was born.
Not by choice, believe me. Let’s just say things didn’t go as planned, and she came sooner than we all anticipated. Thank fuck she was perfectly healthy and everything was fine in the end.
“Well, let’s hit the road,” Thorsten grunts.
“Can we stop by the little burger place? You know the one,” Livi asks and I can tell Thorsten is having a hard time trying not to laugh.
“Sure thing, darlin’,” he croons and gives her a kiss.
We leave the kitchen and I quickly head downstairs to grab my leather jacket and helmet. I wave to the brothers who are sitting in the main room and step out into the slight breeze of the early summer night.
Falcon is straddling his bike, his gaze locked on mine as I walk toward him. The roller-coaster feeling is in full effect as I swing my leg and get on behind him. I wrap my arms around his waist and snuggle tight, my front to his back. The rumble of the bike starts and the man places his large hand on my thigh and gives me a squeeze.
It’s a small move and yet it feels as if the man touches my soul. I breathe him in as he pulls out of the parking lot. I glance to the side, looking for Thorsten and Livi, but there isn’t a bike riding beside us. A chuckle rips from me when I realize they are following in the SUV.
Poor Livi. Thorsten was the same way when she was pregnant with their boy, Novak. Now she’s pregnant again and in for a few months of being absolutely doted on. Thorsten is very protective of his old lady, but when she’s pregnant? He’s absolutely capable of nailing pillows against the wall and bubble wrapping the furniture so she won’t bump anything and hurt herself.
I smile at the hopeful thought of my best friend, my cousin, being pregnant again. Our brotherhood, the Wisely Dicey family growing, expanding. Falcon and I love our little girl and for now it’s what we’re focused on. Where Livi easily fell pregnant, it took a year for me and Falcon.
It’s safe to say nothing in life is without challenge, and the unexpected is an unfortunate interference to deal with. Though, when you’re a team facing everything together it does make it slightly easier. Add more than one brotherhood and you have a massively united front.
Falcon slowly comes to a stop in front of the drugstore. Thorsten parks behind us and Livi gets out to dash into the store.
Thorsten steps closer to us. “Go on, guys. Enjoy the night. We’re heading back to the clubhouse.”
Falcon nods and I add, “Okay, see you later. Oh, and I will be expecting to hear the result to make it official.”
Thorsten grins. “I bet you’ll be the first one she calls.”
“Right after Holland,” I tell him.
The fucker barks out a laugh and throws his hands up. “No comment.”
Yeah, that’s what I thought. I shake my head while the man rushes after his old lady. It took a long damn time for Livi to open up to Holland. Even when the evidence showed he was in fact her biological father.
Holland never gave up. He respected her wishes, kept his distance, and waited until she was ready to build whatever relationship she could give him. I bet the man would even comply with minimum contact. At least now he’s a real grandpa and never says no to babysitting. He’s going to be thrilled when he finds out he’ll be getting another grandchild.
Falcon’s hand is on my thigh again, bringing me back into awareness of the here and now. I tighten my arms and Falcon hits the throttle. The bike eats away the road underneath us. Alive is what I feel when I close my eyes and hold on while Falcon races us through the backstreets of the city.
I love this. Being on the back of his bike, his partner by choice, my lover in life, and the sin of sex in the most delicious way. Yes. One message threw my life in a tailspin, rocked my world with danger, and put me on a path to a future I didn’t see coming.
The trees flashing by, along with the distant city lights, make me aware of my surroundings. Desire hits when I feel the bike lessen speed. The clearing up ahead is a spot where Falcon likes to make a stop when we go for a ride. It’s always quiet here and overlooks the city.
He pats my thigh and I jump off the bike as I unstrap my helmet and leave it near the bike. Turning to the lovely view, I feel Falcon step closer as he wraps his arms around me from behind. I lean back against my strong man.
I love our small family, the three of us together, and the extended family…the brotherhood, and everyone else in our lives. Yet, this? Rare moments where it’s just us two of us together. Nothing pulling our attention, no obligations, only me and Falcon.
I turn in his arms and let my fingers glide up until I grab his neck to pull him down. My eyes close when our lips meet. Even after years we don’t need to speak to communicate the most important thing in life. Our bodies easily understand the silent language of love. It’s a deep connection, one I never understood until I saw Falcon.
That might be the most important lesson of life I’ve learned…you’ll never completely understand something until you experience it firsthand. Before Falcon, I only believed the perfect man was fiction…book boyfriends, hopping from one to the next while I devoured the smutty stories swooping me from reality.
No more. Well, I still read whenever I can, but my smutty obsession is my living and breathing partner in life. The one who has his hands on my ass and the huge hard on grinding against my belly. Living in the here and now sure is delicious and very enjoyable when you get to spend it with the love of your life.
