Chapter 8 #3

“Why? Because you say so? That’s not how it works for me.

I get what I want because I want it. There is no way that your way is going to ever affect me.

I know my worth and know that I will get all of the nice things that I deserve.

You think your little play on words is going to confuse me?

Well, it’s not. As I said, I get what I deserve because I’m a good person and know how my feelings affect the world.

” He laughed. It hurt her head when he did that, and she reached out to grab at him again to no avail.

In that moment, she could have gladly killed him and never thought another thing about it.

“I wish you were dead. You’re nothing to me and my daughter.

You’ll see, she’ll come around when I talk to her.

You tell her to come and see me so that I can talk to her. ”

“No.” She hated that word more than any other word in the world.

And the way that he said it was so final that she wanted to lash out at him in the worst sort of way.

“She told you that she wasn’t going to speak to you again, and I’d believe her if I were you.

She doesn’t think about you and what you’re into either.

I believe she’s happier because of it. I know that she loves me, too.

” Meggie told him that she didn’t know what love was.

“She certainly does now. We love one another very much and are someday going to have children that we’ll raise together and love. ”

Slamming her hands down on the table, she screamed at him.

All he did was laugh at her, and she felt her head hurting; she was so angry.

When he stood up, it was all she could do not to throw up on him; her head hurt her so badly.

Trying to stand with him, just so she could get close enough to strangle him, he stepped back out of her reach and laughed again.

“You bastard. I hate you. And my daughter will come to me because I command it.” He asked her when she got her promotion to command anyone.

Confused, she just let him go on about how she couldn’t command anyone.

“You’ll bring her to me, then you’ll go someplace and die.

I’ve had enough of you and your laughter.

Do you hear me? I want you to go away and never come back. ”

“Gladly.” He made his way to the door and stopped just before exiting.

She was ready for anything that he was going to say to her.

Meggie was going to kill him when she got the chance, and he’d better be bringing her Doone soon, too.

Her head hurt so badly that she couldn’t think straight.

Lying her head on the table after he left her in the room, she closed her eyes.

“Are you all right, Ms. McFarlen? It’s time to go back to your cell.

” She said that she needed a minute or she was going to be sick.

“You take your time, but know this: he’s not coming back, and neither is your daughter.

She sent word that she was finished with you while Doc Dixon was in here with you. ”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.

She’ll come here because I want her to. She’s my daughter, and she knows what’s good for her.

If she doesn’t come, I’ll just have to kill her too, along with that husband of hers.

” She no more believed they were married than she was going to spend any time in prison.

“You tell her that I deserve to see her after being treated so badly by her so-called husband. That’s another thing.

I want to see my husband too. The least he could have done was come here in my hours of need and get me out of here. ”

“It’s time to go back to your cell.” She stood up but was so sick to her belly that she had to sit down again.

Once he pulled her upright, she went along with him but leaning hard on his arms. She was going to be sick if she didn’t lie down soon, and she told him so.

“I’ll have you back to your cell soon. That way you can be sick in your toilet. ”

She was going to puke on the floor when she got back to her cell, she told herself. But they’d probably make her clean it up. They’d been making her clean her cell for the past week now, and she hated it. And them.

As soon as she was in her cell, she laid down on her cot.

It wasn’t worthy enough to be called a bed as it was small and thin.

The mattress on it was about the size of the bed, but didn’t quite cover it.

With her head down on the pillow, she started feeling dizzy and knew that she was going to be sick.

Getting up in a hurry, she nearly didn’t make it before everything on her belly came up, causing quite a mess in the commode.

All she could think of was that she didn’t deserve this kind of treatment.

Once she emptied her belly, she crawled her way back to the bed.

Once there, she laid her head down on the pillow and closed her eyes.

Things were still swimming, but not nearly as badly as they had when she was in the room with the fucking bastard.

That was going to be what she called him from now on, as she hated him with so much passion that she was literally sick from it.

“Fucking bastard doesn’t deserve to be in my presence.

And he’d better make sure that he brings my daughter to me, or I’ll make his death a long and painful one.

” She knew that talking to herself wasn’t the smart way to go.

They’d told her repeatedly that there was a camera on her at all times that also had voice to it.

She didn’t deserve that kind of treatment and told them so.

Every day, she’d have more things to tell them that she didn’t want, and they’d just ignore her.

Well, they’d get what they deserved, too, and it wouldn’t be a good thing.

She must have dozed off because when her tray of food was sent flying into her room, it woke her up.

Not that there was anything good to eat on the tray, but she did look at it.

When she got out of here and she would, she was going to have a nice thick juicy steak with a baked potato and all the trimmings. This shit was for the birds.

Eating the sandwich that she didn’t want made her belly hurt again, but not as badly as it had before.

Lying back down again, she was ready to call it a day when they came around to get her tray.

Asking about her daughter got her nothing in the way of what she wanted, but she’d keep asking them until such time as her daughter came to see her.

Doone had better straighten up, or there was going to be hell to pay when she got out of this jail cell.

And she would too, just as soon as Doone did right by her and gave her what she deserved.

That night, she had the most horrible dream.

She’d been sent to prison, and all the people there were ignoring her needs.

She also had to share her cell with the most dirty people, and she didn’t like that either.

No one was giving her what she wanted, and there was no one there to help her get what she wanted either.

Her daughter had abandoned her in her hours of need, and she didn’t deserve this treatment.

Even in her dreams, she was turning against her, and Meggie was going to have to kill her too.

It was what she deserved after her treatment of herself.
