SIXTEEN YEARS AGO
It’s been a while since my last entry. I’d almost forgotten how busy raising a child will keep you, let alone two. More than a year has passed since they came to live with me, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Lenore started sixth grade this week, which means she’s going to the same school as her brother until he moves on to high school next year. I think it’ll be good for her. Lenore has not found any meaningful friendships at school, so she follows her brother around like his shadow.
Just this afternoon, there was an incident between them.
Damien and Callan were walking up the road to the Little League field to practice, and Lenore thought to follow.
I think perhaps Damien was embarrassed by his little sister tagging along, and kept telling her to leave him alone and go back to the house, but she didn’t listen, so he threw a baseball—
