Chapter 24

BOOKER

Sinking into the warmth of Miles’s body felt like coming home.

I loved touching him, being in contact with him, from the brush of fingers to the full body press of skin to skin, and this was no exception.

I loved the way he felt against me, around me, relaxed and laughing into the pillow, spreading his legs and arching his back.

For a man who hadn’t been sure a week ago that he liked sex at all...

“You’re perfect,” I murmured against his neck, dropping a kiss between his shoulder blades. Because he was perfect, every inch of him, and I still barely believed I had him. “How’re you feeling?”

“Full.” Miles laughed wryly. “I don’t think you have a beginner-friendly cock.”

“You wanna stop?” I asked, hesitating. He wasn’t wrong, and I would’ve sooner jumped out the window than hurt him.

“Absolutely not,” Miles said, burying his face in the pillow and shifting his weight under me. “You won’t hurt me. I know I’ll be okay.”

“You will,” I promised, pressing a kiss behind his ear, nuzzling his neck, breathing in the scent of cologne and shampoo and soap until my head spun, dizzy with closeness. “I’ve got you.”

“Book?” Miles asked, voice muffled.

“Yeah, sweetheart?”

I hadn’t called him that before, but Miles’s laughter reassured me before I had time to worry about it.

“I do still want you to fuck me,” he murmured, almost petulant.

I wasn’t about to say no to that.

I curled a hand around his hip to hold him still and rocked into him, going slow, letting him feel every inch of movement without taking any risks.

I hadn’t expected him to melt into the mattress and make a low, needy sound that definitely meant more, but Miles was full of surprises.

“Like that?” I asked.

Miles made another noise in the back of his throat, straining against my hold on him. He definitely liked that.

I chuckled, giving him what he wanted, still slow and careful, pressing kisses to every inch of skin I could reach.

I loved that Miles basked in affection like he did, always seeking more of it, because I wanted to give it. I wanted endless kisses and to sleep curled around him and to tell him how incredible he was, how happy being with him made me, how lucky I felt that he wanted me as much as I wanted him.

“Feels good,” Miles murmured, breathless, still pushing back against me as far as my hold let him. “Feels so good, Book.”

He was right about that. Time had stopped for me.

The whole world had stopped for me except for Miles, the warmth of his body and the sound of his sighs and the satisfaction of knowing I was responsible for them.

I would’ve given my whole life to making him sigh and moan and squirm like he was and called it well-spent.

Miles threaded his fingers through the ones I had curled around his hip, prying them off so he could move with me. I loved seeing him confident. I loved that he always was around me, that I made him feel so safe that he could do anything.

Including grinding back against me like it was his last night on Earth.

“Easy.” I chuckled. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Miles grunted, dropping his face into the pillow even as his hips rose again, insistent. He’d clearly decided what he liked, and what he liked was me.

It felt so good to give him what he wanted.

I helped him move with me, guiding his hips, easing him into a rhythm that worked for both of us, slow and deep.

Eventually, he shifted under me, getting up to his knees and arching his back to get exactly what he wanted. I pressed my forehead to the back of his neck, closing my eyes and breathing in the scent of him, feeling the warmth of his body moving under mine, demanding.

I’d give him everything he wanted and more if it was the last thing I did.

Every sound he made etched itself into my brain until they pushed everything else out as we moved together, the bedframe creaking under us.

“More,” he pleaded, and so I gave him more.

Harder, deeper, until he gasped at the end of every thrust. Kisses scattered over his shoulders like stars in the night sky, one for every perfect freckle, even the adorable one on his earlobe.

Hands roaming, teasing all over until fingers curled around where he really wanted them, until he gasped and tensed and came in them, crying out into the pillow under him.

I followed him over the edge, vision turning to stars as I finished buried deep inside him, biting my lip as I rode it out.

Damn.

Damn.

Miles followed me as soon as I collapsed onto the mattress beside him, snuggling up against me like he couldn’t stand even a second of separation, our sweat-slick skin sticking to each other.

For long moments, the only sound in the room was both of us panting for breath, my heartbeat slowing to normal in my ears, and the faint rustle of the sheets as Miles curled up against me, fitting one of his knees between mine and resting his forehead against my shoulder.

“Okay?” I asked when I’d remembered how to form words.

“I think,” Miles began, tongue thick, “you may have just ruined my life.”

My eyes widened as he tilted his head to meet them.

“Ruined your life?” I asked, afraid he did regret it now.

“Well.” Miles paused to wet his lips, still red and kiss-swollen, blinking glazed eyes with blown pupils at me. “Now that I know what that’s like, how am I supposed to want to do anything else?”

Relief flooded me from the ends of my hair to the tips of my toes. I chuckled, bending down to catch his mouth for a kiss, drinking in the happy little hum vibrating against my lips.

“You’ll find out in the morning,” I said, pulling him closer. “It’s the kind of thing you space out a little. Like workouts.”

“You say this like I’m meant to know how working out works,” Miles said. “And you’ve seen me naked, so you know I don’t.”

“You’re perfect,” I said, running a hand along his side, letting my fingertips trail over his skin. Just to touch him. I could’ve been happy touching him like this for the rest of my life. “Don’t change on my account.”

Miles hummed, snuggling closer to me. He’d want to get up and clean up in a minute, but for now he was happy. I’d made him happy.

“Forty looks good on you,” he murmured, eyes closed but a smile playing around his face.

I laughed, and let him drift while I ran my hands over him, marveling at the way he felt, at the fact that I got to hold him.

Not so long ago this felt impossible. Now...

I cleaned us both up and settled him against me again, waiting until I was sure he was asleep before letting myself close my eyes, pressing a kiss to his hair.

“I love you,” I whispered. “I’ll tell you for real later.”
