Epilogue
Greyson
I never did let my bear go after her ex.
He tried the same stunts on his next girlfriend, a mountain lion shifter, and nobody had seen him since, according to shifter social media.
He might be out there, hiding. I wouldn’t have blamed him.
But in any case, justice had come down on him and where he ended up was not my problem.
Mya laughed. “About time someone showed him who’s boss,” she said. Feisty or ferocious? She did become online friends with the mountain lion female, so maybe she knew more than I did. I was afraid to ask.
My mate showed the first signs of heat just a few months after this, fortunately long enough after that Davy and Sonia were able to have Benji over for the weekend while we went through it.
Their own little girl was a sweet, placid baby who Benji doted on, and we allowed him to pick out a present for her and a bunch of snacks for himself on the way over.
Sonia gave Mya a big hug and wished her well. Davy offered me a sympathetic smile.
We didn’t have any idea how it would go. Human omegas were not the same as wolves, so we were prepared for anything. Luckily.
She left feisty behind by the time we arrived home, and ten minutes later, we began our marathon session. I’d never experienced anything like Mya in heat. She launched herself at me, wrapping her legs around my waist and kissing me all over my face.
We made love in nearly every room in the house.
Leaving behind broken furniture, torn-up pillows, and, in one case, a couch so broken it would have to be thrown out.
And neither one of us had any clear memories of how it happened.
When we finally lay side by side, panting, soaked in sweat, and the whole house smelled like sex, I’d have sworn it was just a few hours.
It was three days later.
We were bruised and battered and happy. And pregnant.
Benji would have a sibling, and he was over the moon, already drawing the baby some pictures so they’d recognize us when they were born. I wasn’t sure about the logic, but I loved the sentiment.
When life had me at my lowest, I couldn’t see that there would be good days to come. Jeanine did, when she made me promise to find my mate. But my mate found me, and I was one of the few males lucky enough to have two worthy females who loved me more than I deserved.
“Grey, would you come see what Benji drew? It’s a picture of the baby.”
They wouldn’t be here for months, but that didn’t make them any less real or important to their big brother. Or their mother and father.
