Epilogue
Five months later
Wrapping her pea coat tighter around her, Violet stepped out of the bakery, delighted to see her friend Bradford and his wife headed her way on the sidewalk. “Hey! Fancy seeing you here.”
Bradford and Hope grinned, stopping in front of her.
“We’re headed to the Saenger,” he said.
“Me too. Well, in a minute. I’m still waiting for Tripp.” She motioned with her hand back to the shop where her man was paying for her treats.
“Oh. My. God.” Bradford grabbed her left hand, his gaze bouncing from her very new, very sparkly ring to her face. “You just texted me last night and couldn’t say anything?”
“It’s beautiful, Violet.” Hope grinned at her, her own gaze straying back to the gem.
Because it was huge. Tripp had gone a little overboard, but…it was hard to get mad at the man who wanted to give her everything.
He’d recently gotten out of the military and was still figuring things out—and she knew that he’d been talking with Bradford about potentially working for his security company.
At least he wanted to stay in New Orleans. The truth was, she’d move anywhere for him, but her business was here and so were both their families.
The bell from the door jingled behind her as Tripp stepped out onto the sidewalk to join them. “Hey, guys.” He shook Bradford’s hand once before he handed Violet her gloves. “You left these in the shop, babe.”
As she slid them on, they all talked for a few more minutes before heading down to the theater for the upcoming Nutcracker play. She nibbled on the truffles Tripp had bought her, savoring the warmth of him as he wrapped his arm around her.
“So have you started planning your wedding yet?” Hope asked as they neared the theater.
“We’re going to outsource all that,” Tripp said, grinning down at Violet. “Because we’re going to do nothing but relax and just get married without worrying about all the minutiae.”
She was still on the fence about giving someone else control. It went against her nature.
“I’ll believe it when I see it,” Bradford murmured before they all got in line.
“He better believe it.” Tripp leaned down and nipped her ear once, sending a rush of heat spiraling down her spine.
“You’re much bossier than I originally thought you’d be.” But she sorta loved it.
“Just taking care of you when you need it.” He kissed the top of her head before they stepped inside the heated lobby.
Wrapping her arm around him, they made their way to their seats while she held onto the man who’d completely and utterly stolen her heart.
Never had she expected to fall for her best friend’s brother—like not in a hundred years—but now she couldn’t imagine her life without him.
And, thankfully, she didn’t have to.
Thank you so much for reading Falling for Violet.
