Chapter 2

FALON

Grabbing the females by the waist, we all stumble along the hallway due to the excessive drinking and celebrating we have been doing all evening.

The feel of their soft flesh in my big palms is glorious after all the years I have had no way to relieve myself other than my own hand.

The fact that basically everyone on our ship ended up mated, leaving only me alone, felt like a direct smack from the Gods.

But now with both hands full of willing flesh, maybe it was a blessing in disguise, as I have been thoroughly enjoying the many receptive females of my home world.

Caught up in our debauchery with my tongue down Myev’s throat and my cock balls deep in Lurtza, I had let my guard down, believing we were alone. But I heard a faint gasp, and a scent unlike anything I have ever smelled before penetrates the sexual haze I am in.

A deep growl escapes my lips as that odor brings me to instant climax.

I grip Lurtza’s hips so tightly I know my fingerprints will be left behind as I grind into her, but my body is spent as it no longer desires her or any other.

It instead craves the owner of that scent.

Pulling out of Lurtza, I am already turning toward the doorway, indifferent to my nakedness or the leaking seed running down my leg, I stomp out into the hall, yelling, “Where is she?!”

I get a few raised brows and appraising glances as I stroll down the hall, only to lose the scent rapidly.

Angered, I punch the stone wall as I stand there confused, wondering if the smell and this sudden pull were just my imagination.

Turning back, I find Myev standing in their shared doorway, swinging my forgotten pants around in her hand with a huge smile on her face.

“Lose something, or were you planning on spearing any female that gets too close?”

“Did you see or hear anyone while we were …”

“You mean other than Edie, who I do believe we traumatized for life? No.”

“Who is this, Edie?”

“One of the human survivors that we found in the cryo pods. I thought you’d already met all of them?”

“So did I.”

“You wanna come on back in and finish what you started?”

Before I can come up with an excuse, Mam walks around the corner with a disapproving look on her face. “Falon, put some pants on before one of the younglings sees you.”

Myev throws my pants at me, laughing, before turning back into her room. Struggling to get them on, I finally tuck myself painfully back into my pants only to find mam still standing there.

“My sweet young one, are you planning on breaking every heart here? What is your endgame, Falon: love or enemies? Because if you keep jumping from bed to bed, that is exactly what you are going to get. The female mind can become devious once one’s heart gets involved, and sooner or later, you will find one who wants more than a quick romp, whether you do or not. ”

Even though I am a foot taller than mam, I feel like a youngling being scolded. Her disapproval of my actions bothers me more than I want to admit.

“I cannot answer that truthfully mam. All I know is the last few risings since being reunited with you and Atasha, after believing you were long since dead, has shaken my faith and questioned the way we have been surviving all this time. It is making me secretly crave something more meaningful than a quick release and another thieving plunder. Suddenly, I feel untethered as we have spent so many rotations just simply trying to survive. My brothers, for the most part, have a new foundation and an anchor in their mates now, but I am still seeking something I feel is just out of reach.”

“Maybe you need to build something of your own, Falon. Stop searching for the things the others have; your path may not lead in the same direction as your brothers.”

“These hands and my mind were created to infiltrate machines and ships. Mam, it’s all I know.”

Before I can say another word, my comm unit goes off.

“What, Bikar?”

“Falon, meet me at the shuttle.”

‘What the frack has he done now?’, I think to myself before I turn back to Mam, who is smiling up at me.

“You look so much like your sire when agitated. He would have been so proud of all of you. Go on, I will meet up with you later at the last meal.”

Kissing the top of her head, I walk out the main entrance toward the outer field where the shuttle is sitting.

I am only a few feet away when the ramp begins to lower.

Ducking inside, I find Bikar sitting at the console, his large frame practically taking up the entire space, but he doesn’t turn around, he just stares at a red flashing light on the main console.

Reaching over, I grab his shoulder, stepping out of the way just in time so that his wing does not clip me.

Instantly, he is on his feet, battle ready until he realizes it’s me.

“Sorry, Falon.”

He plops back down in the chair, his large head resting in his hands.

“A bit jumpy there, are you not little brother? You want to tell me what is going on?”

He points toward the screen, and I read the words twice. ‘I will see you soon, Bikar!’

“What does that mean? If you expect me to know, you are mistaken, Bikar. Maybe you should start from the beginning.”

“I was in the process of downloading the information that Murgul stole from the Korgon ship about the human females when this popped up. I knew that if we had better knowledge of their home planet, basic needs, and customs, it would benefit all of us. Although that was not my only reason. I was trying to learn anything I could about their courting rituals and pleasures so I could provide Bambi with some comforts from her home world. But when I inserted the disk, it backfired on me and somehow set off this alarm.”

“What do you mean by alarm? Who is that message from?”

“SCOUT!”

As in … Commander DaR’s SCOUT??”

“The one and only.”

“But they cannot trace it here. Frack, for that matter, your signal should not have gotten out of the Void!”

“That is what I assumed as well but it did, and that was his answer.”

“What do you think it means?”

“I have no idea. Should we tell Slavic and the others?”

“That is all up to you. I am not going to listen to him growling at us for half a rotation if this proves to be nothing, and honestly, if they have not found us yet, the odds are they never will. But I would not put that disk back in and tempt them further.”

“It contains crucial information, Falon. We know so little about their race. What if one of them becomes ill? Our med units are practically useless without the information on this disk.”

“For a male who has not claimed a mate of his own, why all the sudden concern?”

“Oh, I have a mate brother.” He moves the vest he is wearing out of the way so that I can see the collar he has been hiding behind it.

“I am doing everything in my power not to finalize the bond. Bambi’s smell haunts my every breath, but if I am unable to provide a stable home and a future for her, I will willingly give my soul to the Gods of Ruk before tying her to this …

our inadequate existence! Murgul risked his life to get this information for all of us to give them a better life. ”

“That fracker enjoyed every moment of it. I still cannot believe you two took on an entire Korgon ship without backup. You are lucky the Gods of Ruk were not done writing your story, or we would not be having this conversation.”

“You have to help me find a way to access this, Falon.” He holds the disk up in his hand.

“I will put you on my ever-expanding list of things to do, Bikar. I have an entire mountain fortress to stabilize so your little side project is not critical to me at the moment.” I turn around and stomp out of the shuttle before he can say another word.
