Chapter 23 - Blair

After my heat, he spent a lot of time on aftercare.

He wouldn’t stick his cock inside me for a few days, stating that I needed to recuperate and rest. I grumbled at him but knew it was for the best since every time he or I tried to touch myself down there, it was sore.

He made sure to give me multiple full-body massages and rest.

He knew that the heat had taken a lot out of me, since my entire body chemistry had changed.

He seemed to catch on to the fact that I was bad at taking care of myself and had a habit of burning out by doing too much at once.

It was a bit surreal how his demon powers could change me to this degree.

He reminded me that it only works if you’re fated mates with the demon, that you couldn’t change anyone’s body chemistry this way.

My hunger had increased tenfold; I felt like I was a pro football athlete with the way I was eating since it ended.

Asmodeus cooked for me, making delicious meals that had me groaning as I ate them.

He was a fantastic cook. He told me that I didn’t eat much during my heat, and to eat a lot after the heat was expected, which made me feel better about stuffing my face all the time.

I was gaining back the calories I had lost from the insane sex.

It only took a few days until I felt more or less back to normal. I went back to work once I was no longer sore or exhausted. It felt good working again, and being able to be around Thea more. She cracked me up and was always checking in with me about life and how I was doing.

Ever since I moved in with Asmodeus, I was finally able to relax, feeling safe.

Even though it wasn’t smart to let my guard down, it was hard not to.

It felt like the threat to my life was no longer there.

No one had seen or heard anything about the stalker that was hurting me since I moved in with Asmodeus.

Hopefully that was a sign that I was safe, and whatever it was lost interest in me.

There were no longer any more scratches or bruises on me; the memory of the incident had disappeared from my skin.

Thea asked me every morning when I came into the bakery if anything else had been happening and when I told her no, she was relieved to hear that.

I missed living with them and eating her food constantly, but I couldn’t imagine not living with Asmodeus at this point; anything else wouldn’t feel right.

Before I knew it, November had flown by in a flash, and it was already the end of the month.

Thanksgiving

Thea had invited me over for Thanksgiving dinner with her and Gus.

I asked if Asmodeus could come with me, and of course she said yes.

I wanted to let her know that we were together, although I wasn’t sure how to approach the mate thing with others.

I guess I would omit that tiny detail and pretend we were in a typical human relationship.

Asmodeus wanted to bring a couple of food dishes over to Thea’s house, especially as a thank you for giving me the time off.

We made some green bean casserole and deviled eggs.

Something simple, but a couple of my favorites.

Az was the one who drove us to her house as I sat in the passenger seat, my mind buzzing with tons of thoughts and questions.

“Does Thea know about mates?” I blurt out, breaking the silence.

“She does,” nodding his head with his response. “She’s mates with Gus,” he slowly adds on.

It takes me a few minutes to catch up and wrap my head around what he said. “Wait, what? They aren’t human?” I ask.

“Nope, but that’s not my place to say anything more,” he shrugs his shoulders. I mean, I guess I wouldn’t just spout off that information either to just anyone, that seemed to be an intimate detail.

“Would it be weird to bring it up? Am I allowed to ask about those types of things? Am I allowed to talk about you and me?”

He huffs. “Of course you are. I’m not going to control what you say or don’t say. I just ask for some discretion around strangers. You can talk to Thea all you want, I bet she would love it actually.”

“Why’s that?” He piqued my curiosity now.

“Well, she and Gus don’t have children of their own, they spent all their time and money on the bakery. Plus, there aren’t a lot of people to talk about or who know about the paranormal. It’s nice when you can be open and honest without hiding,” he shrugs.

“I can understand that. I feel that way with my ADHD sometimes. I feel like I always have to filter myself and hide my true self because I’m always too much for people.

That’s unfortunate that they didn’t have kids, I feel like she would be a good mom.

I get why she wouldn’t though if she didn’t have time, kids take a lot of effort.

” I ruminate over the information that he’s provided to me.

I hope that didn’t become my situation because I positively want to have kids and a family with Asmodeus.

I didn’t know that they didn’t have any kids.

With how lovely she always was to me, I thought she was a grandma.

It all makes sense now why no one else was ever around them.

I guess that’s on me for not asking questions like that and getting to know her more on a personal and intimate level.

I never thought to ask since she was my employer.

Although at this rate, it would be nice to get closer to her.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had someone to confide in and have that motherly presence.

Before I know it, we are at their house, and Asmodeus has parked the truck in front. I see Thea at the door, waving at us, a big smile on her face. I grab the dishes from the back seat and hop out of the truck, heading towards her. When I get on the porch, she wraps me in a hug.

“Oh, it’s good to see you, sweetie! The house hasn’t been the same since you left.” She gives me one of her gentle smiles. She grabs one of the dishes from my hands and ushers me inside the house.

“Has he been taking care of you okay? Do I need to beat him up for you?” The serious tone has me laughing from the mental image of this 62 year old lady who isn’t more than five feet, beating Asmodeus up for not treating me right.

“Hey! I heard that!” He yells from behind us.

“Yes, he has been taking care of me. Please do not beat him up. I like him too much to see him hurt. Plus he’s quite the gentleman,” my cheeks go pink from remembering how much he takes care of me.

“Oh I’m glad! You both deserve to be happy.” Thankfully she’s walking toward the kitchen and can’t see how red my face is right now. I hear the door close behind me, knowing Az is right there.

We walk into the kitchen and dining room, and food is already on the table.

The food looks delicious! She had too many dishes for the four of us.

I set the food down on the table where I could find an open space.

She had turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls, and then some pies near the oven.

We sat down to eat at the table, all of us grabbing a giant serving of food.

I had a feeling we would be taking home leftovers, and I was excited about that.

I loved Thea’s cooking; she had the magic touch to her food.

We spent about 45 minutes to an hour sitting at the table, talking and eating.

We cleaned up the plates and then went into the living room to sit down and relax together for a little while before we headed home.

Asmodeus had sat down on the couch, and Thea and Gus sat in the chairs across from it.

I tried sitting next to his side, but instead, he grabbed me and plopped me right onto his lap.

He had his right arm around my lower back, and his left arm was on my lap while his hand was on my belly.

I was a bit embarrassed that he was doing this in front of people, but it didn’t seem to be an issue since no one seemed to care.

I relaxed my shoulders a bit and rested into his hold. When I looked at Thea, she was glancing our way, her eyebrows almost touching her hairline as she looked between our faces and his hand on my belly.

She smiled right before she talked, “How have you guys been?”

Asmodeus grunts. “We have been doing well. Just happy to have claimed Blair as my mate.” He was serious when he said I could be open with her.

“ I’m also working on a few project cars right now that should be done in a couple of months.

They are from the 70’s so it’s taken me a little longer to get some parts. ”

She squeals, “I’m very happy for you two! I just knew something good would happen between you, I could tell from the moment you met.” HOW? This woman constantly shocked me. How powerful was she?!

“I always liked car styles in the 70s,” Gus chimes in, with a deep, gravelly voice.

My eyes go wide in shock. This is the first time I have heard him talk since I met the grumpy man.

He always talked in grunts or head movements.

Gus and Asmodeus talk back and forth for the next fifteen minutes about cars and what he is doing on his projects.

I tune out a bit as I disassociate, warm and relaxed on his lap.

I look over to see Thea staring at us, a small smile on her face, and something that looks like longing glinting in her eyes.

I wonder what that’s about. Thea gets up, and a few minutes later, she’s back with some pie for each of us.

I was stuffed, but that wasn’t going to stop me from eating a slice.

She had a slice of Dutch apple pie, still warm on each plate.

When I took a bite, the top was crunchy with a buttery finish as the spices and tart apple burst in my mouth a second later.

The crust was flaky with a slight crunch, and the taste was simple.

It created a nice finish to the bite. I make a loud groan, basically moaning about how delicious this pie was. I inhale my piece within five bites.

When I look up, Asmodeus is staring at me, heat in his eyes. The look has me wiggling on his lap, my own body tingling. He stops my movements as I feel his hardness beneath me. My cheeks flame from the contact as his jaw ticks from the control he is trying to keep in check right now.

He clears his voice. “It was lovely having dinner with both of you, and thank you for having us over. But I think it’s time we start heading home if that’s alright with you,” he states, his voice deeper and raspier than usual.

I held in a moan, realizing that was his turned-on voice.

I plaster a smile on my face and thank Thea for the food and hospitality.

I hope she can’t read through the situation; if she does, I’m thankful she is ignoring it.

She rushes into the kitchen real quick, and comes back with a bag full of food for us. I thank her and give her a quick hug before we head to the truck. When I look back, she has a smirk on her face as she waves goodbye. I internally groan, realizing she definitely knows why we are leaving.

He opens my door for me and bends down to give me a quick kiss on the lips. “I’ll be right back, I forgot something. Stay here where it’s warm.” He closes the door and jogs back up the stairs.

Asmodeus

I jogged back up the walkway and stairs, knocking on the door. Thea opens the door with her eyebrow raised, a questioning look on her face. My hands are in my pockets right now, bursting with nerves.

“Can I tell you something? I need to tell someone,” I blurt out. She nods her head, a small smile on her face.

“Blair is pregnant! I’m going to be a father,” her smile widens at my words.

“Oh that’s exciting! I knew it! I saw your hand on her belly, protecting it.” She gives me a quick hug, patting my back.

I get choked up at how happy she is for me. “Thank you,” I whisper to her. “She doesn’t know yet. I’m trying the human approach here and letting her find out for herself with her body’s changes.” I roll my eyes at the words I’m spewing out.

She nods her head in understanding. “I can understand that. Oh I’m ecstatic for you Asmodeus, I can’t wait.

I’m here for you and her, in whatever capacity you need or want me to be!

I’ve always wanted children of my own and loved children, but it wasn’t in the cards for us.

I will always be here to babysit for you.

” She hugs me again and pulls back with a giant smile on her face.

“Now get out of here and go home with your woman!” I laugh, feeling much lighter now.

“See ya soon!” I say to her as I walk back to my truck, Blair waiting for me. Let’s go home.
