Epilogue ch 4 - Blair
It was the end of September, and we planned a trip to the farm for the pumpkin patch and corn maze. For the fall season, we were planning on doing all kinds of activities for the kids during the weekends leading up to Waverly’s tenth birthday party.
On Saturday, we had gotten ready to go to one of the farms about thirty minutes away from our house. The kids barely fit in the car, all eight seats being filled. Before we had left, the kids were fighting over where to sit.
“Enough!” Asmodeus shouted. The kids went quiet in the garage.
“Gremory needs to sit in the middle row with her car seat. We will need Waverly and Orias to sit on either side of her. Felicity, would you please sit between the boys?” He gives them no option as he lays out where they are going to sit.
Felicity nodded without any question, her eyes rolling slightly while the boys groaned and tried to protest.
We had been having issues lately with the boys since they had started puberty.
They were more ornery and a bigger handful the past six months after they turned thirteen.
We had them in sports and extra activities to try and help them work through their changing bodies and hormones.
Their voices had started to change and crack, and they were growing small patches of hair now, which was odd since Asmodeus had none.
I’m sure there were some differences they had to work through since they were half demon. Az told me that they could potentially get the fertility demon powers, but we wouldn’t know until they were eighteen and puberty was done.
We all sat in the car quietly as we drove to the farm. When we got there, the doors sprang open and the twins bolted out of the car, jumping up and down. Waverly helped Gremory out of her car seat and held her hand.
“Thank you sweetie,” I tell her as I kiss the top of her head while Asmodeus picks up Gremory and places her on top of his shoulders. She places her small arms around his neck and leans her head on top of his.
“Are you ready to go munchkin?” He asks her as he has a solid grasp on her ankles, holding her in place.
“Yes Daddy,” she answers in her small, sweet voice, as her lavender hair bounces around and shines in the light. She has the exact features as me. We are waiting to see when her powers manifest, but they haven’t yet.
The boys have already started running off up ahead, while Orias tries to keep up with them.
* * *
It was October, and the kids’ favorite time of year, especially Draven and Belthor.
They were obsessed with Halloween and the autumn equinox.
They knew that this was an important time of year for demon kind and all supernatural.
Gremory, the baby of the family, was the only one who wasn’t a fan of Halloween and was scared of it.
The boys wanted to go to a haunted house this year, and we had agreed that, since they were now thirteen, they were old enough for something like that.
They were really into horror and the paranormal lately.
Draven’s powers were becoming strong and surpassing mine.
We learned recently that he had inherited my mother’s gift of seeing the future in his dreams. It wasn’t many, usually maybe once a month, but we didn’t know what the limit of his powers was going to be.
It took a lot of speaking to him and coming to an agreement and understanding that just because he had these powers, it did not necessarily mean that he could use them or talk to someone.
If he saw someone’s aura or future, he had to keep it to himself.
We had to explain that his powers came with responsibility, and some people would use them against him.
We did everything we could to keep him safe.
Belthor was no longer jealous of Draven and the power he had because he realized how much his twin had to hide.
Belthor protected Draven fiercely if anyone tried to bully him or hurt him.
Because of Draven’s powers, he was more sensitive and caring, which led to kids and even adults being mean to him.
Asmodeus put the parents in their place real quick.
The parents and people in general would gawk at us when we were all out together.
So many people whispered about us: they need to use protection, or how much you want to bet they pop out another one, or how many do you think were an accident, or my favorite, they are irresponsible to have that many children.
As if these people knew our lives and how happy we were as a family and as a couple.
Sometimes I wish I could yell at all of them and let them know all of our children were very much intended and were not accidents in any way, shape, or form.
The audacity of people to make comments about our lives was irritating and made me murderous.
Why was it their business how many children we had or if we had another one?
Our children were very happy, healthy, well-fed, taken care of, and most of all, loved more than anything.
Each of our children was very wanted and filled something we were missing, completing us as a family.
Each child brought something special to our lives, and I wouldn’t change that for the world.
Felicity was fifteen now. Although she was off doing her own thing and being a teenager, she still loved to be around the family and help out with the younger children.
She had a knack with kids and really enjoyed teaching them.
She and Gremory had a special bond together that was lovely to see.
Gremory no longer wanted Az or me to tuck her in bed or read; she wanted her sister Felicity.
Felicity and Asomodeus also kept up with their tradition and bonded over fixing the cars.
Almost every weekend, she was out there helping him.
He gave her more responsibility and showed her more advanced techniques she helped him with.
Orias also loved to help with the cars and be out there with them, even if that was just passing them tools or holding the flashlight.
I’m sure eventually he would move up and be able to help more as he got older.
Felicity helped us set up for Waverly’s birthday party the weekend before Halloween.
We were going to have some parents and kids over from school, making sure our house was cleaned and that everything was prepared.
There were about three kids in Waverly’s class that she was really good friends with. We invited only them and their parents.
As the kids have been going to school, I pinpoint the families that are in some way supernatural.
I have been getting really good at using my powers.
It’s been a breeze finding families to befriend and for our children to become friends with.
It gives everyone an opportunity to be themselves, but have fun around others.
We had handed out invitations about two weeks before the party, and all of them had RSVP’d.
We were going to grill food, have finger food that looked like Halloween decorations, and everyone was able to wear a costume.
Our kids opted to go without their glamour and then wear a costume over it.
Waverly wanted to dress up as a demon princess for her birthday and for trick-or-treating on Halloween night.
Orias wanted to go as a demon pirate. Belthor and Draven dressed up as samurai based on their favorite anime characters.
Felicity was going as a demon barbie, and Gremory was another demon princess.
The party was a blast, and the parents who had other kids brought their other children along for everyone to hang out.
We had rented a Halloween-themed jumping castle.
I had never been in one before, too poor to afford anything like this as a kid, and when everyone had gone home, I jumped inside with Gremory and had some fun without all the other kids jumping around.
The night of Halloween, I had stayed home with Gremory while Az took our five children to go trick-or-treating around town.
They were gone for a good couple of hours while we stayed home and baked together.
I had a special bond with Gremory, and I wasn’t sure if it was because of our magic or something else.
Once Gremory stopped breastfeeding, we were done. I had been a milk bar for the past fifteen years, and I was not having it any longer! The only time I had gotten reprieve from breastfeeding was when I was going through heat and when I was pregnant. My poor nipples needed a break.
Even though Gremory ate food like every other four-year-old, she had been the runt of the family.
She was born the earliest, at thirty weeks, and was the smallest when she was born, weighing five and a half pounds.
She was our sweet, quiet, gentle soul. She was attached to my hip like glue, and my boob was her comfort.
I was surprised I was still producing milk after so long, but she drank every day from me.
Nursing her to sleep, and any time she wanted or needed.
Although we had a rule that it was something we only did in private and not in public or in front of others.
She understood we had to keep up appearances, especially since we were a family with magic-wielding-half-demon children.
I thank my lucky stars every day that I left everything behind to follow my heart, and that led me to the town of Hartford.
I never expected to have a giant violet demon practically fall into my lap, but I wouldn’t change my life for anything else.
This demon owned my heart, soul, and body.
I couldn’t ask for more than my mate by my side and our six children to love and cherish.
I would hope that Asmodeus was in the same boat I was about having more children; we had our hands full, and not sure we could survive more than six.
It was already a house full of chaos and drama, but also love, laughter, and friendship.
Plus, we were getting up there in age as well.
Asmodeus had turned 46 this year, and I had turned forty in August. Although I forgot that recently he told me that because he bonded with me, I would become near-immortal with him, same as our children, since they were half-demon.
I swear he tried his hardest to change my mind, always saying the most filthy things to me in private, where no one else could hear.
Would whisper in my ear while I was doing dishes or laundry.
Somehow after six kids and fifteen years, he still found me just as sexy and beautiful as the day he first laid eyes on me.
Let’s be real, he would gladly get me pregnant again if I let him. But I talked him into not having another one. At least for now. Who knows what would happen after my next heat or in the future when our kids are older?
