The Cosmic Oxen

KIEF

Whiskey dripped down the back of my throat as I watched the dance on the main stage. She was pretty, sure, but she was undeniably boring.

Ugh…I guess I need to liven things up a bit.

I noticed a few of my men rushing up and down the stairs, whispering as if something had happened. “You.”I snapped my fingers at one of them. His fell fell as I motioned him near. “What’s with all the commotion?”

The man gulped, hesitating before he finally approached me, visibly shaken. “It's The Burnout, sir.”

“The Burnout? What happened? Did one of the VIPs get too drunk?” I scoffed, half laughing as I took another sip of my drink.

“N-no sir…it burned down.”

I choked on the whiskey, coughing as I glared up at him. “It burned down? How? When?” I blinked in disbelief as a second man walked up. “Sir…we have a bigger issue.”

“What is it?!” I snapped.

The man sighed. “Toro is dead.”

Toro…is dead? But—

I froze, knowing exactly what was going on.

“Where is she?” I asked quietly. The two men didn’t respond. “Where is she?” I shouted, tossing the glass onto the floor as it shattered. “Where is Indi Osvaldo?!”

Shots fired as the whole club erupted into chaos. My men fell one by one, dropping at my feet as two masked individuals approached. One male and one female.

No…it can’t be.

The woman lifted her halloween mask, smiling back at me, those infamous emerald eyes burning into my soul. “I’m right here, cousin.”

No.

She tilted her head, leaning into the man, who I could only assume was Haze. “And we’re going to have so much fun. I hope you’re hungry. ‘Cause Haze has a whole feast planned.”
