Chapter Six #3
“Hobbs is searching for the two of you. I’ve made a few calls and have some friends who are on the inside of his organization.
You didn’t hear this from me, but Hobbs is being investigated for human trafficking, which doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch given what he wants to do with his daughter.
I’m worried about Jules, man. If we don’t get her out soon, he could have her shipped off, and we’ll never see her again. ”
“Fuck,” Jagger cursed. He felt helpless, and the only connection to his sister was lying naked in his cabin. “What the hell do we do now?” Jagger asked.
Dean sighed, “I’m in constant contact with my guys on the inside, but they can’t blow their cover.
Hobbs is working on something big, and if we blow their identities now, we might never get another opportunity to bring him down.
I think his business dealings and latest transports hinge on marrying Justice off to Wolf, but we need more information.
Jag, if I had known that you and Jules were tied up with someone like Hobbs, I would have done more to help you both.
” Jagger knew Dean would do anything to help him and keep Jules safe; he just wished he didn’t have to ask his friend to pull strings for him.
One thing was clear from this new information—he couldn’t handle Hobbs on his own. He needed Dean’s help.
“So, we just wait?” Jagger paced his porch, trying to keep his temper at bay.
“Have you had a chance to talk to Justice about marrying you? I can help make that happen today, and it might be our best bet to keep her safe. If she’s already married, Wolf can’t have her.
She becomes a non-issue and one less person to worry about.
” Dean looked him up and down, took in his lack of clothing, and smirked.
“Asshole,” Jagger growled. “No, we haven’t done a whole lot of talking since you left. Hobbs called and told me to sit tight. He asked where we were, but I didn’t give him a straight answer.”
“Well, that must have pissed him off because he’s widened his search for the two of you.
He’s even put a bounty on Justice’s head just in case you decide not to deliver her safely to him.
He called it his insurance policy, and my friend tells me it’s a good sum of money.
Hobbs wanted to make sure his associates took this seriously.
It’s only a matter of time before someone finds you two.
Marry her and get her as far from here as you can.
” Jagger knew Dean was right. If he married, Justice Wolf couldn’t.
It really couldn’t be that simple, though.
It could backfire on them. If Justice were no longer available, Hobbs might just kill them all.
“Pack your gear and meet me at the courthouse downtown in an hour,” Dean ordered.
“Fine. Make it happen, and I’ll get Justice to agree.” Jagger knew he was taking a chance, but he didn’t care. He wanted to keep Justice safe, and if convincing her to marry him was the only way to do it, then that’s what he would do.
Anthony Hobbs sat at his big desk, watching as the whole world around him seemed to scramble to follow his commands.
Having so much power was everything he had ever dreamed of, and if he had his way, he would have everything he wanted at his fingertips.
His mother never really understood him, often asking why he couldn’t be happy with the hand that life dealt him.
Norma Jeane never understood how he could walk away from ranching and go into politics.
But he wasn’t his father, and he was damn sure not going to waste his life taking care of cattle and crops only to die and be buried in the same dirt he worked on every day.
He watched his father throw his life away, and he wasn’t about to make that same mistake.
His wife never seemed to understand his drive, either; that’s why he did what he needed to do to get rid of her.
She fought him at every turn, and when it came to agreeing on how to handle raising their only daughter, Justice—they didn’t.
He was tired of being second-guessed in his own home, so he did what he had to do and made her death look like a suicide.
Justice had a lot of her mother’s stubborn streak in her, but he didn’t let that deter his plans.
Once he had her thrown into the crazy bin, she settled right down.
Well, until his mother stuck her nose into his business and took Justice away from him, ruining his plans to give her to Jordan Wolf.
He needed Wolf, or his business was going to go under.
Hell, his whole life would fall to shit if it wasn’t for Wolf’s money, and lucky for him, he had something that Wolf wanted—Justice.
Wolf told Tony that if she was pure, he’d make all his dreams come true, and he hoped like fuck that his little princess hadn’t spread her legs open for any other slime ball.
He needed to milk her for all the pain and misery she caused him these past two years.
He knew Wolf wasn’t going to be Prince Charming when it came to the way he handled Justice, and that was just fine with him.
He knew that if anyone could put Justice in her place, it would be Wolf.
“Mr. Hobbs, Sir. We might have a lead on your daughter’s whereabouts.” Well, that was the best news he heard all day.
“Where are they?” he barked. He didn’t trust Jagger James as far as he could throw him—that was the main reason he kept his whiney, annoying sister around.
Jules James was sexy as fuck, but she never shut up, and her constant whining was enough to make him want to just hand her over to Wolf.
Jordan wanted Jules for himself until he could get his hands on Justice, and Tony couldn’t blame him.
If he gagged Jules, he would be able to tolerate her better, but that wasn’t part of the game.
He knew he needed to keep his cock in his pants and his head in the match to finish what he started with Wolf and deliver his daughter, as promised.
Tony knew that Jagger was military trained and a pilot too, which made him indispensable to him and his business needs.
He wanted him in his organization, and he’d do just about anything to keep him around, even hold Jules as a hostage.
He just hoped that Jagger didn’t change the rules on him and decide that he wanted to keep his pretty little princess all for himself because that was a deal he couldn’t make.
Wolf’s money was too important for his business and his political goals.
If Jagger James got in the way, he’d just have to take care of him and his sister, like he did all his other problems. He’d just make them both disappear.
