Chapter Eleven #2
“I heard that,” Dean barked and hugged Justice, kissing her cheek.
He pulled Jagger in for a quick hug and led the way into the office building, where he had them all meet.
“Thanks for getting here so quickly, guys. Were you followed, man?” Jagger knew enough about watching his ass to make sure that no one had followed them.
“No, I think we’re good,” he said. They followed Dean into the elevator, and Jagger watched as his friend pressed the button for the top floor.
“Want to tell me where you are taking us, exactly?” Jagger cocked an eyebrow at Dean and pulled Justice against his body.
Since seeing Wolf at the ski lodge, he felt a protective instinct that was almost foreign to him.
He wanted Justice next to him, close enough to touch, and he trusted absolutely no one else with her—not even Dean at this point.
“I called in a few favors, and we can use the offices on the top floor.” Dean shrugged.
“I have intel that Jules is close by, being held in a safe house that Wolf uses when he comes up here, but doesn’t want his family to know he’s in town.
He hasn’t even been to his family’s estate yet, so I’m assuming this is a business trip for him.
If my hunch is right, we will find Jules and some other missing girls I’ve been trying to track.
I think they are getting ready to move a shipment, and we have no time to waste.
” Jagger didn’t miss the way his wife cringed at Dean’s word choice.
Hearing those poor women referred to as a “shipment” made him feel a little green around the gills.
They got off the elevator and stepped into a big office surrounded by glass on every side.
Being so high up, it had breathtaking views of the area, and Jagger was sure that he had never seen anything so magnificent.
Whoever Dean’s contact was, he must be some big connection to have provided them with this meeting place.
Jagger whistled out his breath at the fully stocked wet bar and sat down on the big, blue suede sectional that took up most of the space.
“This is quite a connection that you’ve got, Dean,” Jagger said. His friend smiled at him and nodded.
“Yep, I think I’ll be in debt to my associate for more than I originally agreed, but Jules is worth it.
I’m determined to get her back, Jag, and when I do, I won’t let you or anyone else stand in my way.
I’m in love with her, man. I have been for as long as I can remember.
Losing her just drove that point home.” He watched Jagger as if waiting for him to say something.
Jag knew he could play this one of two ways.
The first would be to forbid his friend from pursuing his sister, but that might push them both away.
The second would be to just embrace Dean’s admission and let the chips fall where they may.
It was Jules’ life, and he wasn’t about to stand in the way of her happiness; she already had enough sadness to last a lifetime.
“Fine,” Jagger barked. He watched as Dean dramatically exhaled and almost wanted to laugh. “I won’t stand in your way. As long as you are what Jules wants, I give you my blessing.” Dean stood and crossed the floor, standing in front of Jagger with his hand out.
“Thanks, man,” he said. Jagger stood and took Dean’s hand, pulling him in for a hug.
“If you two are finished with all this mushy crap, can we please get to the part where you come up with a plan to save Jules and those women?” Justice helped herself to a beer, and Jagger couldn’t help his laugh.
“Sure, help yourself, Justice,” Dean laughed.
“Sorry, man, my wife is a handful.” Jagger made his way to her, pulled the beer from her hands, took a swig, and set it on the bar. He wrapped her in his arms and kissed her, causing Dean to groan.
“Man, you two need a room,” he said, making a sour face.
Justice laughed at him. “Well, we had one, but then the bad guys showed up, and here we are,” she sassed.
Dean pushed a button, and a screen lowered from the ceiling in the far corner.
He dimmed the lights, and Jagger watched as some aerial pictures popped up on the screen.
“We believe that women are being held in this building.” Dean used a laser pointer and circled what looked like an outbuilding behind the main house.
“As you can see from the picture, the whole place is heavily guarded, and it’s going to be a fucking shitshow trying to get everyone out safely.
From the last reports sent over this morning, there are twelve women in there. ”
“And Jules?” Jagger growled. “Where are they keeping my sister?”
“Here,” Dean said. He used his pointer to show that she was being held in the main house.
Jagger felt his stomach drop at the thought of Jules being held separately from the other women.
He hated that she was being kept under the same fucking roof as Wolf and worried that they were already too late.
He worried about what they would find when they finally got into that house to rescue Jules.
And he hoped like hell that Wolf was there so he could tear him apart.
“What’s the plan?” Justice whispered.
“I have a team assembling as we speak. They are about a mile away from Wolf’s location, and we are about ten miles out.
We are going to meet up with my team and go in there hot.
” Jagger could feel his panic knowing what that meant.
He saw so many missions turn bad because there were just too many variables.
He knew this could be one of those instances.
He was hearing everything Dean wasn’t saying, and that scared the fuck out of him.
“When do we leave?” Jagger asked.
“We aren’t going.” Dean turned on the lights and ended the show. Jagger could feel his anger bubbling past the point where he wanted to punch something or someone. He didn’t want Justice to see that side of him, but she was about to get a crash course as to who she married.
“There is no fucking way that I’m not going in with you, Dean.” His best friend crossed the room and stood dangerously close to him.
“Listen, man, if you are there, then you can’t be with Justice.
I’m afraid that if you leave her, we will be playing right into Wolf’s hands.
She is his ultimate prize, and he knows you guys are here now.
I can’t take the chance that we will be handing Justice over if you are with me and not her.
” Jagger sighed, knowing Dean had a valid point.
The thought of Wolf getting his hands on Justice just about drove him mad.
“Fine,” he barked. “You go in there and get my sister from that crazy asshole, and I’ll keep my girl safe.” He wrapped his arms around Justice, and she cuddled into his side.
“I’m sorry, Jag,” she whispered.
“No, don’t ever be sorry for me choosing you. I’ll always choose you, baby.” Jagger kissed her forehead, and Dean grabbed his gear.
“I’m heading out. You two go back to the house and enjoy the rest of your honeymoon. I’m betting you’ll be back home before you know it. I’ll go get Jules and make sure she’s safe. Once we have Wolf and Hobbs in custody, you should be all clear to head back home.”
“Thanks, man.” Jagger shook his friend’s hand.
Going home sounded pretty fucking good to him, but the question was—where exactly was home?
He and Justice just admitted how they felt about each other.
They needed to catch their breath before deciding something like where they were going to settle down.
He didn’t give a shit where he lived as long as it was with Justice.
He’d live on the fucking moon if that made her happy.
