Chapter 2

Chapter Two

Latham

“Be nice,” I tell them, pointing as they stare after her.

They start shoving each other, trying to get to her office first, and I shake my head when Cyrus steps into their path. He raises an eyebrow at their bickering and fighting.

“Meet your new employees,” Addie tells him, shoving the box back in my hands.

“Huh?” Cyrus asks, confused.

Addie shrugs, walking off and leaving me to explain. I try to explain, yet Blaine and Xavier keep adding their two cents’ worth.

They are meant to be leaving, so why are they arguing with me?

Xavier gets in my face, demanding that I back off because he wants her. Cyrus growls, getting in between us and shoving Xavier away when Eli walks out of his office, looking like a raging storm.

“What the fuck is going on?” he asks, when Xavier shoves me back, and I punch him.

Cyrus quickly gets between us, and I feel like incinerating his ass for even trying that shit with me.

Since when does he like humans, anyway?

“I saw her first. You can’t just stake a claim to her. What are you going to do with her anyway, kill her like the last one?” Blaine snaps at me.

“I am not going to kill her. You will kill her,” I tell him before shoving him.

“That’s it. What the fuck is going on? Or I will have you escorted out,” Eli says, ripping me away as I swing at Blaine.

Blaine is a brave man going up against the Prince of Darkness. He is lucky I have self-control going back a hundred years ago. I would have killed him and bled his soul from him just for talking back to me.

Cyrus sighs, sitting on the end of Addie's usual desk. He straightens out his coat before folding his arms over his chest, looking rather bored with this fiasco.

“Is anyone going to tell me what’s going on?” Eli asks.

“Latham has staked a claim for her, and it's bullshit,” Xavier says.

“Either share her or hand her over to Latham. Since when do you care for humans, anyway?” Eli spits at me.

“I saw her first. You only want her because I showed interest in her.”

I pinch the bridge of my nose. This is ridiculous. They are both leaving today anyway. What do they want with her?

“Oh, they still haven't told you the best news,” Cyrus says, and I look at him.

“Huh? There is more to this shit?” Eli asks him, becoming annoyed.

I can practically see the steam coming out of his ears. I am almost tempted to feed off his energy. It is that strong, but I hold back.

“Yep, apparently they all now work here,” Cyrus answers him.

“What?” Eli asks, folding his arms across his chest, not looking the least bit impressed with the news.

“Shotgun the tech floor,” Blaine says.

“Fuck off, you cheating bastard. I am working on the tech floor,” Xavier says, shoving him.

Eli grabs the back of his shirt, yanking him back. “Will you bloody children stop? None of you are working here. You will kill all my employees.”

They will, but I won't. I have mastered my control. I only want Bella.

“You owe me a favor, and I am claiming it. I could have outed your father for his crimes, and I didn't. I never ask for anything, Eli,” I tell him, folding my arms.

Eli sighs. He knows I am right. His father killed his mother because he was tired of her ways. At the time, I ignored it and looked the other way, and now Eli owes me.

“Why do you want to work here again?” he asks me.

“Bella,” Cyrus answers for me.

“Bella, as in our tech manager Bella, the human girl?” Eli asks.

We all nod.

“No, absolutely not. She is a good girl, and you don’t need to be meddling in her life. What could you possibly want with her?”

“Her soul,” I admit sarcastically, though I also mean my words, and I want all of her.

I just don’t know why. Something intrigues me about her aura.

“Not in that sense. I want her. I just don't know why, but I do. You owe me, Eli. Just put me on her floor, or better yet, make me her partner.”

“I already have a manager. She is the manager of that floor,” Eli says.

Even better. I can share an office with her.

“Now you have two,” I tell him, refusing to back down.

“If you are putting him on, then you put us on, too. Come on, Eli. Don’t be a dick. Make it fair.”

“Don’t be a what. Would you like to repeat that, Xavier?” Eli asks, glaring at him.

Blaine smirks. He knows there is nothing a Lycan can do to him, but Eli would still kick his ass for the disrespect.

“No, I won’t have you fighting and causing scenes.”

“Six months. We can give her six months to pick one of us. Please, Eli,” Blaine asks.

“You want to make it a competition?” I scoff before shaking my head. They wouldn’t stand a chance.

“What are you scared of, Latham? That you will lose?” Xavier asks, with a smirk on his face.

“Please, I have a thousand years on you, boy,” I growl at him.

I could do this with my eyes closed while standing on my head. I am that confident. These young demons need to learn their place. We may be friends, but they are getting in the way of something I want.

“Fine. To make it fair, no demon magic, no dream-walking, no lust tricks. Then once she chooses, the others back off. Deal?” Blaine says, and I fight the urge to roll my eyes.

“No, she is mine,” I tell them, letting my aura slip. They are no match for the Prince of Darkness.

“Yes, you can’t place bets on a human,” Eli tells them.

“Well, have you got a better idea then?” Xavier whines.

“Yeah, I do. Leave her alone and go back to Soya City, where you all belong,” Cyrus tells them.

“Not happening. I want her,” I tell Cyrus, folding my arms across my chest. I am not leaving without her.

“Six months, or we all go back, Latham?” Xavier says.

“Two months. I don’t need six to get her in my bed. Shit, I could have her there by the end of the day,” I tell him before holding out my hand to Xavier.

“Without your magic, doubtful,” Blaine says, and I growl at him.

“No magic, and don't eat my employees,” Eli tells us before walking over to Cyrus.

“Eli, Addie will lose it if she finds out they are taking bets on her friend,” Cyrus says to Eli.

“She won't know. It stays between us. Either of you tells Addie and causes shit for Cyrus and Eli. I will bleed you out,” I tell Blaine and Xavier.

“Fine, but no demon tricks, Latham,” Blaine and Xavier say, folding their arms.

“That applies to you two as well,” I tell them, knowing they are both more likely to cheat, though I admit it will be hard doing shit the human way.

They both nod.

“So, where do you want us?” Blaine asks Eli.

“Ask your new manager,” Eli tells them, pointing to me.

I smirk. This is going to be fun.

“Let the games begin,” I chuckle.

“Pretty sure we need new janitors on that floor,” I tell them both as we walk down the corridor to find Bella.
