Chapter 48

Chapter Forty-Eight

Walking over to my bag, I pull the vial out and pop the cap. If Latham kills me, any chance of having kids goes down the drain. With that thought, I place it back.

Would they even want kids? Is it actually a possibility?

Something smells delicious, and my mouth waters. Though I had a late lunch, I am still hungry.

Shaking my head at my growing appetite, I walk out to find them setting the table—Caesar salad. Perfect, because if I kept eating at this rate, especially with the way Blaine eats so many carbs, I would need new pants.

"Who were you on the phone to?" Blaine asks.

"Addie," I answer, watching Latham pour wine into glasses.

Xavier watches him, and I glance behind him to see another empty bottle on the bench.

"We leave tomorrow morning, and we are heading to Soya City. If you don't let me taint you again, you need to be under the council's protection," Latham says, and I nod, spearing a piece of chicken and lettuce.

We eat silently, and Latham is a brooding figure at the table. The tension between them is scorching hot while we eat. Although Latham never touches his food. He polishes off the rest of the bottle of wine before pushing his plate in front of me.

"Eat it," he says, and Blaine rolls his eyes, clearing the table when I shake my head.

"Blaine!"

"She is full. You said it yourself. She had a late lunch with Addie," Blaine growls, and I can't understand his weird mood. He has never been like this before.

Xavier sighs before helping Blaine, and then he wanders into the bathroom. I hear him start the shower, and Blaine walks in there with him a few moments later, shutting the door.

I scull the rest of my wine before reaching for the bottle and plucking it from Latham's hands.

He eyes me but lets me take it. I hold it up before noticing there is only a glass and a half left, so I instead opt to drink from the bottle.

Latham watches as I bring the bottle to my lips, leans back in his chair, and folds his arms across his chest.

Swallowing the sweet liquid down, I watch him back. "How bad will it hurt?"

"Depends how willing you are."

"And if I am not willing?"

"Death would be kinder," he answers, and dread pools in my stomach.

Death would be kinder? That doesn't sound so good. No, that sounds fucking horrible.

"And willing?" I ask hopefully.

"Endurable."

"Wow, you really know how to sell an impossible option. Could you have used worse words to describe it? Death would be kinder. Oh, and death you will wish for, lucky me?" I say sarcastically.

Latham says nothing.

"Can't you do that demon thingy you do where you take the pain away?"

"Not without running the risk of killing you, but we can mask it."

"How? You just told me I am basically going to want to die."

"There is pleasure in pain, Arabella."

"Yeah, when you're the one inflicting it," I tell him, drinking from the bottle again.

Latham reaches behind him to the bench leaning the chair back on two legs before falling forward after snatching another bottle of wine off the bench. He hands it to me.

"How many of these you got?"

"Enough to get you wasted, though I would be shocked if you found the bottom of that bottle," he says.

"And there is no other way?"

He chews his lip. "Make you immortal."

"Like Addie?"

Latham nods.

"Can you have kids as a vampire?" I ask him.

His brows crease, and he leans forward in his chair. "To be with us, Arabella, means you won't ever have kids, none of your own, anyway. You wanted kids?"

"Well, honestly, I never gave it much thought until now, when it suddenly didn't become an option. But aren't demons born?"

Latham nods. “It's complicated and not a possibility for you."

I sigh, drinking from the bottle again when the bathroom door opens. Xavier steps out and looks over at us, and Blaine runs into the back of him. They both stop and look at us.

"What is wrong now?" Xavier asks.

"Nothing," I answer before Latham could. He turns his eyes back to me and watches me.

"No longer an issue?" Latham asks.

"No, because it's also no longer an option," I tell him sadly.

I can't miss something I never had, right? Gosh, I hope I am right.

Blaine walks over to the table, snatches the bottle from my hand, and looks at it. His towel hangs low on his hips.

"Hoping to get her drunk enough to agree?" Blaine asks, shaking his head when I grip the front of his towel.

Blaine looks down at me, and I untuck the towel, revealing his massive cock.

"Arabella, don't tease me," he says.

I run my tongue up the length of him. He groans, gripping my hair.

“Ari?”

“Willing hurts less?” I ask, and he looks at Latham behind me before nodding.

"It will still hurt, oh god. That will hurt if you stop," Blaine groans when I grip his cock before sucking on it, licking up the side before taking him deeper. His hands fist my hair, and he thrusts into my mouth.
