Fragment 1
“This is your target.” A dossier is slid across the table to me. “Her name is Charlotte Jennings. Common alias, Sparks. The picture on the left was taken eight years ago during the Synergy Labs incident. We captured the image on the right from security footage half an hour ago.”
A person’s appearance drastically changes over eight years, but the resemblance is still clear.
Her cheekbones are still round, but more defined.
The gray in her eyes is more saturated, yet there is a depth to them.
I can tell the past eight years have not been kind to her.
Perhaps most striking though, is her vibrant red hair.
She’s cut it shorter as she’s grown. It’s now shoulder length, but her curls are still just as bold as the first photo.
“During the failed mission, the explosion appears to have given her powers to manipulate electricity. The full capacity of her abilities is unknown. We don’t have her full history since a rogue agent, Jackson Davis, concealed their movements.
He has since been dispatched by Miss Jennings.
She is considered armed and dangerous at all times.
Please consult the dossier for further details. ”
“Yes, ma’am.” I flip through the pages. It’s a pretty slim file, but I’ve worked with less. The director turns to another agent.
“This is your target, Astrid Larson. Common alias, Water Weaver. Former romantic interest of Miss Jennings. There are rumors that she also has powers, except hers are focused around manipulating water.”
“I look forward to gaining more intel.” Agent Chadwick responds. What a suck-up.
“Deliver these messages. Then observe and wait for further instructions.”
“We won’t disappoint you, Director.” Chadwick responds. I nod in agreement.
This will be fun.
